Deprecation of NONE DNS backend
Hi, I'm curious about this remark on the wiki[1] : "do NOT use NONE as the DNS backend, it is not supported and will be removed in a future Samba version." Why is this being removed? I would prefer to manually add the records that would be generated by BIND9_FLATFILE to my domain's zone file. We have automation that controls records in the domain's zone file that I

V4 - New Install - Missing Zone File
Hello List, I am trying to compile and install Samba 4 using the wiki guide on Centos 6.2. I am currently using the current source from git. It seems that the zone file used for Bind is not configured and not installed in the private directory. Is there any way to get this file generated so I can finish my install? Thank you for your time and have a great day!! Kind regards, Jeremy

group policy update fails
Hai, Since your getting. finddcs: No matching server found > ERROR: Invalid IP address '3(NXDOMAIN)'! There is something wrong in the base of you setup. Check all DC's for ipnumbers (A) and PTR records. Dont forget to create the reverse zone yourself. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_Troubleshooting

ADC 4.7.0 KCC replication failing with PDC 4.6.8
Hi Rowland Thanks for the link https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_Port_Usage It should fix the Firewall authentication problem. I like to find out if I can rename the Domain name of the DC when I move it to the new DC like currently it is IUMNET.EDU.NA <http://iumnet.edu.na/> but my GApps domain name is IUM.EDU.NA <http://ium.edu.na/> and I like to use the same on my new

Picking a non-.local domain
First off, thanks to Rowland Penny for his patience in working through my thread "Joining a new Samba AD DC". I first attempted to upgrade my old Samba 4.8.2 AD/DC to a more recent version, but that effort failed due to too many differences with the Samba version and the latest Slackware OS version. Next I tried to join a 2nd Samba DC to the existing domain with the intent of promoting

Hai, ? i was reading: ? http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_DNS? which stats : Don't use BIND9_FLATFILE! It's not documented and supported!? ? This is wrong imo.? ? bind9_flatefile works fine, it just does not support multi master dns, and bind9_DLZ does. so you must setup a master/slave setup for bind9 with flatfile ? If you need to run a network with

Logins differ for ip/DNS on ad dc
Thanks a lot for your help so far. The main reason I do not use vms is that the server is pretty limited in RAM so this would only be my last resort. To prevent confusion: srv.wie (192.168.1.50) is the same machine as smb.wie (192.168.1.55), I seperated them just now to debug the problem. > These look like they are being run on the DC, what about from the > windows clients ? > I did

Can work if you use provisioning with BIND9_FLATFILE anyway i tested that long time ago.. but then you wil be missing the "Multimaster" dns ability.
