Replication Error
Hi Denis Thanks for your response without your crystal ball. I have increased the log level =9 dns:0 on both the servers. It replicates successfully by manually running the command samba-tool drs replicate SERVER2 SERVER1 dc=iumnet,dc=edu,dc=na --full-sync but it is still failing when I check from the samba-tool drs showrepl Also I run samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs --fix on both the servers

Replication, automatic checks
So, is there any way to do replication checks via cron [or similar] and alert if any replication problems exist? [I'd love to know there's a replication problem long before it becomes a career ending experience! :) ] I'm running 4.7.6 - which may limit my options - but a quick search didn't dig up anything I could find. TIA -Greg

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication
hello, There is a group in my AD that has a user that does not exist. I can see it via RSAT. By running the command: samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs --reset-well-known-acls --fix --yes The following error occurs: Checking 10016 objects WARNING: no target object found for GUID component for one-way forward link member in object CN=ALUNOS,OU=GRUPOS,OU=CAMPUS,DC=mycompany,DC=net -

error during DRS repl ADD: No rDN found in replPropertyMetaData
The system described by https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-May/199829.html (Invalid data for index DN=@INDEX:OBJECTCLASS:DNSNODE) now appears to perform DNS updates correctly, all systems are 4.2.10-Debian, and we've been able to add a user and a new DC. (Thanks for the help!) Synchronisation between v-ward (the new local DC), and empire isn't entirely working, though. >

RSAT Hang
So, I setup Samba on Ubuntu 18.04, using the packaged Samba version. [Thanks Rowland/Louis et al.] I'm doing some testing/tinkering using FreeNAS as a share, using the AD as the authentication back-end. As part of that process, you need to add a computer account and change some security settings. I setup RSAT and can see the AD tree, and add users etc. When I try to switch to advanced view

samba 4.7.0 replication errors
Hallo, we have 5 ADDCs. All of them did run with sernet-samba 4.6.7. I updated 4 of them to sernet-samba 4.7.0, one after the other, checked replication, everything seemed to be ok. One day later a colleague wanted to delete a lot of users with a powershell-script and since then the replication doesnt work anymore. (Im sure the script is not the problem, but it seemes like it triggered something)

I used Louis' script: samba-check-db-repl.sh which includes samba-tool ldapcmp and samba-tool drs showrepl it passes both tests. Roy

Samba4 on Ubuntu 18.04 Howto setup ADDC with bind9_DLZ (extra part 4.8.1 samba)
So, I'm curious about the contrast between modifying netplan vs simply disabling systemd.resolved Is there some advantage to the gyrations to make netplan work, vs simply disabling resolved and manually defining the IP and DNS server? [I'm not complaining, I'm thankful for all the options - just wanting to have the best handle possible on the reasoning behind one method vs the other.]

Dovecot vs MBox
I'm still in the "what's wrong" stage of figuring out what's going on. But I've got a mail user who isn't getting new messages. Postfix accepts it and drops it in the users mbox. [This is verified. If I tail the Mbox, I can see the new messages.] "Mail" will see the messages too. But dovecot doesn't seem to know they exist. I don't think the MBox

smb.conf for Windows clients
So, I'm trying to paw through the long set of smb.conf options - and it's rather daunting. I'm wondering what smb.conf options are most important/appropriate/common for mostly Windows XP/7/(possibly v8) clients. Hello,I'm using samba ad dc about a year. I have 2 DCs, One is DC1 with FSMO role. And another is DC2. there's a error in DC1 when i use dbcheck tool. And samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs--fix can't fix that. And I made a big mistake ! In DC2 I use "tdbbackup -s .bak /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb" create a bak file. and using that bak file replace the sam.ldb

Namespace problem? duplicated folders...
I'm sure this is related to name-spaces, but for some reason [brain damage perhaps? :) ] I can't seem to figure out how to fix it. In TBird, for example, I have a folder tree that looks like this Inbox -| Folder-A Folder-B Folder-C Folder-A Folder-B Folder-C And Folder-A, Folder-B, Folder-C are the same folders, just shown twice. [In two different hierarchies.] I'm using
