Upgrading Server Motherboard
I have a server running CentOS 4.2 that works as a web/email with very
heavy load. It runs Directadmin web gui which is like Cpanel. It
runs on a cheapy mATX motherboard(ECS 741GX-M) with socket A 2800+ CPU
and 2Gbyte DDR. The OS and data are on a 300Gbyte PATA maxtor drive
and data backups are run weekly to another PATA drive. The server is
overwelmed and data backups take over 5 hours to

Deferred emails on alias emails
Hi,
I am currently making a fresh install of email server. I am having some
issue with dovecot-antispam (cf. other emails), and noticed that I was
having issues on aliases, which apparently where not forwarded to the actual
SMTP server after passing through dspam. Still don't figure why but
temporarily disable the dspam filter, which anyway is not useful in the
current state of this

URL-encoding and decoding on Rails
I have a URL parameter that has special characters on it, so I do URL
encoding as such:
my_url(:email => CGI.escape("someemail+extension-O5WfVfzUwx8@public.gmane.org")
Now, I would expect to call a CGI.unescape(params[:email]) on the
action receiving this parameter, and this is true according to my
functional tests.
But when I tested this on the browser, it failed because,

libvirtd does not update VM .xml configurations on filesystem after virsh snapshot/blockcommit
Hi,
Recently We've upgraded some KVM hosts from Fedora 29 to Fedora 30 and
now experience broken VM configurations on filesystem after virsh blockcommit.
Commands "virsh dumpxml ..." and "virsh dumpxml --inactive ..." is showing diffrent configuration than the one on filesystem.
In case of restart libvirtd or system reboot, there are broken VM xml configurations on

4.0 stopped working after updating xubuntu 13.04
Hi
I got some strange issues on my samba4.0.1 install yesterday. It
happened a while after updating my xubuntu server 13.04 not 13.10.
Everything seems to be working fine except shares. Kerberos
authentication seem to function properly, also DNS works fine but shares
seem semi-broken.
I can't mount any shares on my Windows box, including netlogon,
profiles. I have one share that is

Timeouts connecting via POP3
I'm experiencing timeouts from time to time from both Mac Mail and Outlook
when connecting to my server. I originally suspected that it might be
process # related, so I increased the auth & login process counts but that
hasn't seemed to make a difference.
I'm running 1.0rc10 which came with my DirectAdmin control panel. I'm
wondering if this problem is known and was fixed in

Must Samba have DNS server?
Dear all,
I have an Linux Server 7.1 which doen't connect to internet and doesn't have a DNS server as well. I use 192.168.10 IP addresses.
If I still setup Samba server (ver 2.2), can Windows 2000 make a connection to the Samba server?
Many thanks

Merging mailboxes with doveadm
Hello,
I am trying to merge(=copy) all mails of all user mailboxes into one
mailbox for one-time archival purposes.
The command I am using is
?sudo doveadm -v copy -A archive at somedomain.net ALL
The error I get for every mailbox is:
doveadm(someuser1 at somedomain.net): Error: Can't open mailbox
'a at somedomain.net': Mailbox doesn't exist: archive at somedomain.net

Samba-winbind 3.5.4 primary group is always domain users!!!???
Dear All,
I stepped over a strange issue today. I have one installation of samba
winbind 3.3.2 on a Ubuntu machine. Changing the primary unix group of a
user is updated immediately. On a newer samba 3.5.4 installation the
primary group is not updated at all. It always displays "domain users".
Is there a new setting for the smb.conf? Here is my smb.conf:

mdbox index directories: bug?
Hi,
I'm using mdbox now (Dovecot 2.2.4), with indexes on a
separate disk. Works fine, but the directories for indexes are also
present in the storage folder, and are empty. Userdb (sql) returns this:
home /var/vmail/domains/somedomain/someuser
mail
mdbox:~/mdbox:INDEX=/mnt/spool/dovecot/index/somedomain/s/someuser
And
the created directory structure is:

SAMBA + LDAP + add machine script bug?
Recently I was having some trouble getting the "add machine" script to
work with samba-3.0.10. Initially, I attempted to add a Windoze XP
box (i.e. Control Panel ->System -> Computer Name tab) to my domain
with a user ID of "root". This would always fail because there was no
user named "root" in "ou=Users,dc=somedomain,dc=org". Next, I tried

You can't use DIGEST-MD5 if you have hashed passwords (using other than DIGEST-MD5 scheme).

How do tzdata changes get made?
Hi All,
I guess this is a political question rather than technical.
New Zealand is probably extending daylight saving time with
a bill currently being drafted. It will (most likely) change
the end data of dst by pushing it out ~3 weeks.
My question; AFAIK CentOS/whitebox/et. al. should not make
any changes to tzdata - it is an upstream issue, but how do
we ensure that 'upstream'
