Configuring Multiple Gateways
I'm in need of installing two NICs in a machine that are connected to 2 different public networks and I need both IP addresses accessible from the outside. The IPs are part of two completely different subnets. For example: eth0 IP - 10.10.10.2/30 GW - 10.10.10.1 eth1 IP - 20.20.20.6/30 GW - 20.20.20.5 How can I configure 2 gateways on this server? Thanks! -- Matthew

PGP On Centos
Hey I need to run some pgp commands, -what's the name of the package supported by Centos that will allow me to work with pgp? I need to run pgp --fingerprint key.name or it's equivalent. Pro question. Google searches didn't show much, tried to search for pgp, gnupg, openpgp, pgp on centos, openpgp on centos, centos/pgp. No worthy results came back. Any advice? -karlski

Centos 4.3: VPN recommend/ howto anyone?
Hi, I'm just curious about setting up a new VPN here in the office part of our enterprise, as well as a second in our 75+ node data center co-location facility. Needing to stomp out the ****dows L2TP node here, just too many side-issues with config. I'd like it to run the same OS as all of our servers, e.g. Centos 4.3. Any recommedations on which software/server/client

cat cron jobs into crontab
Hi, What's the best/safest way to "cat" the following job into crontab? */3 * * * * /usr/lib64/nagios/plugins/check_megaraid_passive.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 I am used to doing this manually via crontab -e, but now I simply have too many centos servers to build in a given week (get to toss another 120K at some more 2U chenbro/tyan/amd64's -w000ooo). -karlski

Remtoe Install/Anaconda
I have started playing around with remote installs using vnc and kickstart files. However I cannot seem to find a good listing of anaconda parameters. And where I am running into problems is with the display. Say that I am using a kickstart file and I don't want it to establish a vnc connection or to show progress on the console what can I provide to anaconda to do this? When I add text to

phpMyAdmin high Memory usage
I installed phpMyAdmin on CentOS 4.4. When accessing phpMyAdmin the memory usage jumps. Memory usage for http jumps to 700MB spawning 4-5 httpd processes (about 3GB of ram). Mysql also jumps to using close to 600MB in some cases This is a Daul Dual core Xeon 3GHz machine with 4 GB of 667Mhz ram. Should I be seeing this spike in Memory usage? The spikes only last about 5 seconds but my

OT: Measure 2U Server Amp Usage
Hi, Running a bunch of CentOS servers on 2U supermicro equipment, usually with 8 drives on Adaptec SmartRAID V or LSI Megaraid. In designing a rack in a data center, the question arises as to how to measure the amperage the server uses, prior to investing in power drops that actually do that for you, even remotely, for about $260.00-300USD per unit. This number is the important one these days

Vsftpd/Centos Issue: Client Time Display Wrong
Hi, We have patched Centos 4.4 to work properly with the recent DST changes, but our customers are reporting wrong FTP client timestamps based on which areas they live in. What are the two main mechanisms in Centos that control time? I know about /etc/localtime and TZDATA, is there something we may have missed? Or is this perhaps a VSFTPd thing and I could go bug that list? To be clear,

kickstart - how do I specify I20_block driver
Hi, I have alot of kickstart and scripting going on as I provision lots of machines, and every now and then I run into a pesky machine or three that's still got that Adeptec zero-channel RAID card sitting on the board. Normally I like to rip it our and throw something more robust in, but if it's a cache machine or whatever, I leave it in. It makes my kickstart file useless until I

OT: Gigabit Rated Eth Cables - Cat 6 v. Gigatrue
Hi, In populating our racks with several gigbit switches over the next few days, i'm wondering this: Is it over-engineering to seek out 550mhz rated cables over the typical Cat 6 250mhz rated cables? I've been advised (if you can a salesperson's words advice, heh.) that 250mhz is enough to handle traffic up to 10GB's. Should I just be happy with Cat6 for my GB switches or is

Sound problems with CentOS
Has anyone experienced this before? This happened to me even under CentOS 4.x. But basically what happens is that when I play MP3s, whatever the right speaker crackles at higher volume. And it's always that speaker and only that speaker. If I turn the balance to the other speaker I have no problems. So it feels like it might be a mixer issue. I use Alsa, of course, as that's what the
