"no pool_props" for OpenSolaris 2009.06 with old SPARC hardware
Hi, yesterday evening I tried to upgrade my Ultra 60 to 2009.06 from SXCE snv_98. I can''t use AI Installer because OpenPROM is version 3.27. So I built IPS from source, then created a zpool on a spare drive and installed OS 2006.06 on it To make the disk bootable I used: installboot -F zfs /usr/platform/`uname -i`/lib/fs/zfs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s0 using the executable from my new

resilver of older root pool disk
This is a hypothetical question that could actually happen: Suppose a root pool is a mirror of c0t0d0s0 and c0t1d0s0 and for some reason c0t0d0s0 goes off line, but comes back on line after a shutdown. The primary boot disk would then be c0t0d0s0 which would have much older data than c0t1d0s0. Under normal circumstances ZFS would know that c0t0d0s0 needs to be resilvered. But in this case

Installing over network
Hi All, I see that sparc.centos.org does not contain any ISO's so that I can install from CD. How does one install over the internet? I have never done it before. I assume use the boot.iso and make sure that I have DHCP turned on so that I get an IP automatically from my router? Any advice? -Jason

Sparc zfs root/boot status ?
Back in October/November 2007 when I asked about Sparc zfs boot and root capabilities, I got a reply indicating late December 2007 for a possible release. I was wondering what is the status right now, will this feature make it into build 79? This message posted from opensolaris.org

zfs boot on Sparc?
I am afraid a search does not get much on this subject, hence this post. Is there a plan for a Nevada build to include zfs root/boot on Sparc architecture? When? This message posted from opensolaris.org

zfs root, jumpstart and flash archives
I understand that currently, at least under Solaris 10u6, it is not possible to jumpstart a new system with a zfs root using a flash archive as a source. Can anyone comment as to whether this restriction will pass in the near term, or if this is a while out (6+ months) before this will be possible? Thanks, Jerry

Archiving and Restoring Snapshots
I just received a special offer from Sun (marketing...) promising that I will learn "How to use ZFS snapshots for backup and restore purposes." The relevant doc is at... https://www.sun.com/offers/docs/zfs_snapshots.pdf It says: === Begin quote === Archiving and Restoring Snapshots Another use of snapshots is to create archives for long-term storage elsewhere. Netinstall wants to use wlan0
Hi, Folks -- I'm setting up an Acer Aspire 5250 as a Christmas gift, CentOS 6 netinstall insists on trying to configure wlan0 but I'm using a wired DSL connection, consequently netinstall fails and only offers the option to Retry. How can I get it to bypass the wlan0 idea and go straight to eth0...? Thanks, -- -- Jeff -- <http://www.wellnow.com> "There's nothing

zfs receive should allow to keep received system unmounted
zfs receive should allow option to disable immediately mount of received filesystem. In case of original filesystem have changed mountpoints, it''s hard to make clone fs with send-receive, because received filesystem immediately try to mount to old mountpoint, that locked by sourcr fs. In case of different host mountpoint can be locked by unrelated filesystem. Can anybody recommend a

"installation source" specification for netinstall
Trying to specify the "installation source" in the configuration of netinstall for centos 7 (7.1). Three places on the web said mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/ But that configuration page probes, then it says, "Error setting up base repository". What's the magic needed? Also, if anyone knows specs for epel and others, they might help too. Thanks.

Weird netinstall issue
Hi. The other day I burnt a copy of a CentOS 6.4 64 bit netinstall disc, verified the disc which passed & about a third of the way through the install it informed me that there was no CD in the drive & refused to carry on. So I burnt another & the same thing happened. So using the same disk burner & the same batch of disks, I burnt a copy of a Debian 7.1 netinstall & it
