NFS issue with ZFS
I have Solaris 10 U7 that is exporting ZFS filesytem.
The client is Solaris 9 U7.
I can mount the filesytem just fine but I am unable to write to it.
showmount -e shows my mount is set for everyone.
the dfstab file has option rw set.
So what gives?

Cannot share RW, "Permission Denied" with sharenfs in ZFS
Hi everyone,
I have just installed Solaris and have added a 3x500GB raidz drive array. I am able to use this pool (''tank'') successfully locally, but when I try to share it remotely, I can only read, I cannot execute or write. I didn''t do anything other than the default ''zfs set sharenfs=on tank''... how can I get it so that any allowed user can access

Export ZFS over NFS ?
I''ve got my first server deployment with ZFS.
Consolidating a pair of other file servers that used to have
a dozen or so NFS exports in /etc/dfs/dfstab similar to;
/export/solaris/images
/export/tools
/export/ws
..... and so on....
For the new server, I have one large zfs pool;
-bash-3.00# df -hl
bigpool 16T 1.5T 15T 10% /export
that I am starting to

ZFS Boot Won''t work with a straight or mirror zfsroot
Using build 70, I followed the zfsboot instructions at http://
www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/boot/zfsboot-manual/ to the
letter.
I tried first with a mirror zfsroot, when I try to boot to zfsboot
the screen is flooded with "init(1M) exited on fatal signal 9"
Than I tried with a simple zfs pool (not mirrored) and it just
reboots right away.
If I try to setup grub

RFE: ISCSI alias when shareiscsi=on
Starting from this thread:
http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=118786𝀂
I would love to have the possibility to set an ISCSI alias when doing an
shareiscsi=on on ZFS. This will greatly facilate to identify where an
IQN is hosted.
the ISCSI alias is defined in rfc 3721
e.g. http://www.apps.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3721.html#sec-2
and the CLI could be something like:

ZFS/iSCSI target integration
Rick McNeal and I have been working on building support for sharing ZVOLs
as iSCSI targets directly into ZFS. Below is the proposal I''ll be
submitting to PSARC. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Monitoring filessytem access
When somebody is hammering on the system, I want to be able to detect who''s
doing it, and hopefully even what they''re doing.
I can''t seem to find any way to do that. Any suggestions?
Everything I can find ... iostat, nfsstat, etc ... AFAIK, just show me
performance statistics and so forth. I''m looking for something more
granular. Either *who* the

sharenfs=off, but still being shared?
I noticed an oddity on my 2008.05 box today.
Created a new zfs file system that I was planning to nfs share out to an old FreeBSD box, after I put sharenfs=on for it, I noticed there was a bunch of others shared too:
-bash-3.2# dfshares -F nfs

zfs set sharenfs=on
I started sharing out zfs filesystems via NFS last week using
sharenfs=on. That seems to work fine until I reboot. Turned
out the NFS server wasn''t enabled - I had to enable
nfs/server, nfs/lockmgr and nfs/status manually. This is a stock
SXCR b49 (ZFS root) install - don''t think I''d changed anything much.
Shouldn''t a ZFS share be permanently enabling NFS?

zpool split problem?
Zpool split is a wonderful feature and it seems to work well,
and the choice of which disk got which name was perfect!
But there seems to be an odd anomaly (at least with b132) .
Started with c0t1d0s0 running b132 (root pool is called rpool)
Attached c0t0d0s0 and waited for it to resilver
Rebooted from c0t0d0s0
zpool split rpool spool
Rebooted from c0t0d0s0, both rpool and spool were mounted

ZFS NFS cannot write
This is the first time I tried nfs with zfs. I shared the zfs filesystem with nfs, but i can''t write to the files though i mount it as read-write. This is for Solaris 10 update 4. I wonder if there is a bug?

Huge difference in reporting disk usage via du and zfs list. Fragmentation?
Do we have enormous fragmentation here on our X4500 with Solaris 10, ZFS Version 10?
What except zfs send/receive can be done to free the fragmented space?
One ZFS was used for some month to store some large disk images (each 50GByte large) which are copied there with rsync. This ZFS then reports 6.39TByte usage with zfs list and only 2TByte usage with du.
The other ZFS was used for similar

Mixing RAID levels in a pool
Hi,
I had a plan to set up a zfs pool with different raid levels but I ran
into an issue based on some testing I''ve done in a VM. I have 3x 750
GB hard drives and 2x 320 GB hard drives available, and I want to set
up a RAIDZ for the 750 GB and mirror for the 320 GB and add it all to
the same pool.
I tested detaching a drive and it seems to seriously mess up the
entire pool and I

Cannot remove a file on a GOOD ZFS filesystem
Hello all,
First off, i''m talking about a SXDE build 89. Sorry if that was discussed here before, but i did not find anything related on the archives, and i think is a "weird" issue...
If i try to remove a specific file, i got:
# rm file1
rm: file1: No such file or directory
# rm -rf dir2
rm: Unable to remove directory dir2: Directory not empty
Take a look:

Can ZFS simply concatenate LUNs (eg no RAID0)?
Hi,
I do have a disk array that is providing striped LUNs to my Solaris box. Hence I''d like to simply concat those LUNs without adding another layer of striping.
Is this possibile with ZFS?
As far as I understood, if I use
zpool create myPool lun-1 lun-2 ... lun-n
I will get a RAID0 striping where each data block is split across all "n" LUNs.
If that''s
