install on a Dell4400 perc2 /DC
I got fedora core 4 to install and show me the configured Raid drives.
no mean trick let me tell you. However, the platform is unstable and
hangs. I tried Centos 4.1 but the raid drives are not identified like
most other distros. can i do anything from the fedora install that might
allow me to install the centos distro. I would rather not have to go out
and buy a new raid card.

megaraid problem
Hi,
I'm trying to install Centos 4.3 x86 on a PE 1400SC but the install doesn't
find any HD's.
So then I get the option to load a module, so I choose for the megaraid_mbox
module for the LSI LOGIC 4CH PERC but my RAID5 still doesn't get recognised.
Had the same problem 2 years ago with FC3 wich was due to the megaraid
module wich got obsolete in the 2.6 kernel but somebody filed

CentOS4 and older megaraid
Release notes say no support for the RAID card in a box I just picked
up...is there no hope for this box running 2.6 kernel?
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-4-Manual/release-
notes/as-x86/
The kernel shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 includes the new
megaraid_mbox driver from LSI Logic, which replaces the megaraid driver.
The megaraid_mbox driver has an improved design,

Drives Not Recognized on Dell Poweredge 1550 CentOs4 install
I have a new (used)Dell Poweredge 1550 server with 2 scsi drives (dual 1ghz
w/ 2048MB) that I'm attempting to install CentOs 4 onto and am having
problems getting the darn thing to recognize the hard drives. (it's worth
noting that it's running RAID 0 and the RAID bios recognizes both drives as
being in "optimal" state). I start the installation process and all is

Help with megaraid_mbox driver
Hi All,
I've built a custom CD based on CentOS 4.2. An OOB CentOS 4.2 disk will
detect the megaraid (Perc4) card in a Dell 1850/2850, and load properly.
My version does not. I have checked, and the original shipping kernel
for CentOS contains the same megaraid_mbox driver as the updated kernel
that is on my CD. Basically, my CD removed some RPMS, and added others

Installing on Hardware RAID - Adaptec 7890/7860
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to install the CentOS 4.4 Server CD on old hardware. The
hardware is a Dell PowerEdge 2300 with Adaptec 7890 and 7860
controllers. It's the first time I've done a Linux install with
hardware RAID.
However, I'm having trouble getting CentOS (as well as Fedora Core 6)
to detect the SCSI hard drives. When it comes to the part where you
choose where to

RE: SCSI Raid controller
Hi All,
I have some old HP Netserver LPr?s that have old HP RAID controllers
(NetRAID 3si?s). The RAID controllers don?t work too well with CentOS. I?ve
not been able to get the installer to see the controllers. I?ve read a lot
of notes that don?t seem to point to me having any success.
So 2 questions.
Has anyone successfully used NetRAID 3si controllers with CentOS?
Can anyone recommend an

CentOSPlus kernel - Request for input
OK,
I am building the new CentOSPlus kernel for i386/x86_64.
It is based on the 2.6.9-42.EL kernel that will be part of CentOS-4.4.
Currently it has all the features of the older plus kernels and all the
items turned on by the upstream provider in their main kernel ... except
that XFS is being removed from this kernel (and added by a standalone
module that has newer sgi code for xfs).

problems with samba and Perc/2 RAID
Hi,
We recently acquired a Dell PowerEdge 4300 with two PIII 500
Xeons and half a gig of RAM, running RedHat 6.1 out of the box. In
addition, it has a PERC2/SC Single Channel RAID card for six 18GB LVD
SCSI drives.
The problem is that, while we're not doing anything fancy with
samba, basic file share stuff, the load seems to spike whenever writes
are done. When doing a large file copy,

RedHat 7.0 on Dell Poweredge 6300
I went to RedHats' page and found hardware requirements and it said
that the Dell Poweredge 6300 is a supported hardware. Then I went to
linuxcare.com and it does not list the machine. Before I look like a
buffoon, or continue to, Redhat will run on this machine, right? I
appreciate the help.
Thanks,

Making Driver Disks
List,
I have attempted to make my own megaraid driver disk for a Dell
PowerEdge 2300. The procedure I'm using is detailed at the end of this
message. In short, I followed samples that I collected after Googling
around. The problem I face is that the CentOS 4 installer can't seem to
mount the driver disk after I have created it. It gives no information
other than, "Cannot

Xen on Dell PowerEdge 1850 with Perc 4e/Si controller
Hello,
I am having issues making my box boot with Xen. I am
working with linux-2.6.16.28-xen on a gentoo box. The
server is Dell PowerEdge 1850 with Perc 4e/Si, FW
521X. When dom0 reaches the point of scanning the SCSI
controllers, it hangs in a loop
aic7xxx_dev_reset_returns 0x2002. My regular (non-xen)
kernels come up fine with detecting my adaptec scsi
controller.
Had anyone had the same

Dell 1950 Perc 6/i with centos 4.5
We are currently running CentOS 4.5 on older Dell Systems. We are upgrading
to Dell PowerEdge 1950 with a PERC 6/i raid controller.
CentOS 4.5 installation does not see the PERC 6/i controller. Dell and LSI
Logic only support RHEL 4U6 and higher and SuSe.
I've tried building the boot images with the new driver for installation but
kickstart still doesn't see the raid controller.

megaraid/PERC
I've got two drives from a now-dead server, they were RAIDed, a mirror,
I'd assume. I need to see if there's anything on them I need to transfer
to the replacement, so I just shoved them into another Dell server, with a
PERC 5 controller - I think that's what the dead one had. I fired up
MegaRAID storage manager... but can't see any way to tell it to recreate
that RAID. Anyone

CentOS on Compaq Proliant Rackmount Servers
Greetings,
Can anyone relate experience(s) installing CentOS on Compaq rack mount
servers units please?
Easy no problem, easy some issues, or ghastly do not do it under any
circumstances... ;)
Basically, I'm looking at some used/refurb dual PIII units and will run RAID
on Compaq built in SCSI or is it easy to pop in some 3ware SATA in them?
Let me know in terms of CentOS 3 and/or 4 please.

Hello,
I am running error rate analysis. It is my results below. When I compare
aov1 and aov2, X square = 4.05, p = 0.044, which indicates that adding the
factor "Congruity" improved the fitting of model. However, the following Z
value is less than 1 and p value for Z is 1, which means that "Congruity"
is not significant at all. Therefore, these two parts are not consistent,
