zpool destroy core dumps with unavailable iscsi device
While playing around with ZFS and iSCSI devices I''ve managed to remove an iscsi target before removing the zpool. Now any attempt to delete the pool (with or without -f) core dumps zpool. Any ideas how I get rid of this pool? This message posted from opensolaris.org

Hotplug issues on USB removable media.
Hi, As a part of the next stages of the time-slider project we are looking into doing actual backups onto removable media devices such as USB media. The goal is to be able to view snapshots stored on the media and merge these into the list of viewable snapshots in nautilus giving the user a broader selection of restore points. In an ideal world we would like to detect the insertion of the

Incorrect link to qemu-img
The page describing setting up HVM domains[1] contains an incorrect link for downloading qemu-img. It has a link to http://dlc.sun.com/osol/xen/download/current/qemu-img while it should be http://dlc.sun.com/osol/xen/downloads/current/qemu-img (note the ''s'' on downloads). Automate Destroying Snapshot''s
I have created a script that gets a snapshot and backs the snapshot to tape. I would like to keep the snapshot around for one week, than destroy it using the following command: "zfs destroy snapshotlvolume." Is there a way to automate the destroying of snapshots that are older that x amount of days? This message and its attachments may contain legally privileged or

ZFS Web administration interface
I don''t seem to have access to the web administration interface. It worked fine up to svn_B37, but B38 and B39 don''t appear to have it deployed. I can start the web console server "/usr/sbin/smcwebserver start" and log in as root but ZFS does not appear in the list of applications. Is there something additional I need to do? determining raidz pool configuration
Hi all, Sorry for the newbie question, but I''ve looked at the docs and haven''t been able to find an answer for this. I''m working with a system where the pool has already been configured and want to determine what the configuration is. I had thought that''d be with zpool status -v <poolname>, but it doesn''t seem to agree with the

Poor man''s backup by attaching/detaching mirror drives on a _striped_ pool?
Hi, one quick&dirty way of backing up a pool that is a mirror of two devices is to zpool attach a third one, wait for the resilvering to finish, then zpool detach it again. The third device then can be used as a poor man''s simple backup. Has anybody tried it yet with a striped mirror? What if the pool is composed out of two mirrors? Can I attach devices to both mirrors, let them

Find the difference between two snapshots
Hi everyone, Is there an easy way to find out which files has changed between two snapshots? Currently I''m doing a # rsync -arvn <snapshot1> <snapshot2> and it creates a list. But rsync needs to go through the whole filesystem and compare files. It would be nice if zfs would have this option builtin. Regards, Nickus

How do I get my pool back?
After having to replace an internal raid card in an X2200 (S10U3 in this case), I can see the disks just fine - and can boot, so the data isn''t completely missing. However, my zpool has gone. # zpool status -x pool: storage state: FAULTED status: One or more devices could not be opened. There are insufficient replicas for the pool to continue functioning. action: Attach the

RAIDZ v. RAIDZ1
So, I took four 1.5TB drives and made RAIDZ, RAIDZ1 and RAIDZ2 pools. The sizes for the pools were 5.3TB, 4.0TB, and 2.67TB respectively. The man page for RAIDZ states that "The raidz vdev type is an alias for raidz1." So why was there a difference between the sizes for RAIDZ and RAIDZ1? Shouldn''t the size be the same for "zpool create raidz ..." and "zpool

mounting a copy of a zfs pool /file system while orginal is still active
Hello SUN gurus I do not know if this is supported, I have a created a zpool consisting of the SAN resources and created a zfs file system. Using third part software I have taken snapshots of all luns in the zfs pool. My question is in a recovery situation is there a way for me to mount the snapshots and import the pool while the original is still active. Right now all I am able to do is export

recover user error
ZFS claims that it can recover user error such as accidentally deleting of files. How does it work? Does it only work for mirrored or RAID-Z pool? What is the command to perform the task? Also for COW, I understand that during the transaction (while data is been undated), ZFS keeps a copy of the previous data. However, once the transaction is successfully completed, isn''t it the case

Undo/reverse zpool create
Hi, If I add an entire disk to a new pool by doing "zpool create", is this reversible? I.e. if there was data on that disk (e.g. it was the sole disk in a zpool in another system) can I get this back or is zpool create destructive? Joubert This message posted from opensolaris.org
