rsync is concatenating the files together
I am seeing a really odd problem with Rsync 2.6.2 and 2.6.3. I am trying to
rsync a directory containing some 2gb files from a Solaris 9 NFS server to
a Solaris 10b69 NFS client. Rsync is running on the Solaris 10 client.
Here is the source directory as seen from the client:
Source directory:

NFS, nested ZFS filesystems and ownership
Hello,
I''m sure there is a simple solution, but I am unable to figure this one out.
Assuming I have tank/fs, tank/fs/fs1, tank/fs/fs2, and I set sharenfs=on for
tank/fs (child filesystems are inheriting it as well), and I chown
user:group /tank/fs, /tank/fs/fs1 and /tank/fs/fs2, I see:
ls -la /tank/fs
user:group .
user:group fs1
user:group fs2
user:group some_other_file
If I mount

Lots of overhead with ZFS - what am I doing wrong?
I was trying to simply test bandwidth that Solaris/ZFS (Nevada b63) can deliver from a drive, and doing this:
dd if=(raw disk) of=/dev/null gives me around 80MB/s, while dd if=(file on ZFS) of=/dev/null gives me only 35MB/s!?. I am getting basically the same result whether it is single zfs drive, mirror or a stripe (I am testing with two Seagate 7200.10 320G drives hanging off the same interface

User/Password Management: Mapping items to inidividual users
Is there a good plugin that does per page authentication management?
For example, I want to allow users to create pages and share them with
specific users, all users, or none at all on a per page basis.

Fine grained access control
Hi,
I''m building an application which is going to require quite fine grained
access control. Deciding if a user is allowed to access an action will
probably require checking quite number of different rules, so a simple
role-based system won''t be flexible enough.
The approach I think I will try first is, if it''s possible, to ignore
permission issues inside the

SMF services for Xen
1. Introduction
This case introduces the SMF services used by a Solaris-based domain 0 when
running on Xen, or a Xen-compatible hypervisor. All of these services only
run on domain 0 when booted under Xen virtualisation.

User/group/role model question
Hi.
I have an app where "users" can belong in "groups" with certain "roles"
(eg. a user can own a group).
Normally I''d make users has_and_belongs_to_many groups and put a role_id
on the join table. But - a role is really a first class citizen also, so
a model is in order.
The problem with making a "role" model which has_many "users"
