space_map.c ''ss == NULL'' panic strikes back.
Hi.
Someone currently reported a ''ss == NULL'' panic in
space_map.c/space_map_add() on FreeBSD''s version of ZFS.
I found that this problem was previously reported on Solaris and is
already fixed. I verified it and FreeBSD''s version have this fix in
place...

ZFS space_map
Hello all,
I am trying to understand how the allocation of space_map happens.
What I am trying to figure out is how the recursive part is handled. From what I understand a new allocation (say appending to a file) will cause the space map to change by appending more allocs that will require extra space on disk and as such will change the space map again.
I understand that the space map is treated

space_map again nuked!!
I''m really angry against ZFS:
My server no more reboots because the ZFS spacemap is again corrupt.
I just replaced the whole spacemap by recreating a new zpool from scratch and copying back the data with "zfs send & zfs receive".
Did it copied corrupt spacemap?!
For me its now terminated. I loss to much time and money with this experimental filesystem.
My version is Zpool

I have a raid-z zfs filesystem with 3 disks. The disk was starting have read and write errors.
The disks was so bad that I started to have trans_err. The server lock up and the server was reset. Then now when trying to import the pool the system panic.

But still when trying to do zpool import

Single-disk rpool with inconsistent checksums, import fails
Hello all,
I have an oi_148a PC with a single root disk, and since
recently it fails to boot - hangs after the copyright
message whenever I use any of my GRUB menu options.
Booting with an oi_148a LiveUSB I had around since
installation, I ran some zdb traversals over the rpool
and zpool import attempts. The imports fail by running
the kernel out of RAM (as recently discussed in the

Need Help Invalidating Uberblock
I have a ZFS pool that has been corrupted. The pool contains a single device which was actually a file on UFS. The machine was accidentally halted and now the pool is corrupt. There are (of course) no backups and I''ve been asked to recover the pool. The system panics when trying to do anything with the pool.

raidz pool metadata corrupted nexanta-core->freenas 0.7->nexanta-core
I made a bad judgment and now my raidz pool is corrupted. I have a
raidz pool running on Opensolaris b85. I wanted to try out freenas 0.7
and tried to add my pool to freenas.
After adding the zfs disk,
vdev and pool. I decided to back out and went back to opensolaris. Now
my raidz pool will not mount and got the following errors. Hope someone
expert can help me recover from this error.

Processes hang in /dev/zvol/dsk/poolname
After multiple power outages caused by storms coming through, I can no
longer access /dev/zvol/dsk/poolname, which are hold l2arc and slog devices
in another pool I don''t think this is related, since I the pools are ofline
pending access to the volumes.
I tried running find /dev/zvol/dsk/poolname -type f and here is the stack,
hopefully this someone a hint at what the issue is, I have

confused about zpool import -f and export
Hi, all,
I think I''m missing a concept with import and export. I''m working on installing a Nexenta b134 system under Xen, and I have to run the installer under hvm mode, then I''m trying to get it back up under pv mode. In that process the controller names change, and that''s where I''m getting tripped up.
I do a successful install, then I boot OK,

multiple disk failure
Hi,
I am using FreeBSD 8.2 and went to add 4 new disks today to expand my
offsite storage. All was working fine for about 20min and then the new
drive cage started to fail. Silly me for assuming new hardware would be
fine :(
The new drive cage started to fail, it hung the server and the box
rebooted. After it rebooted, the entire pool is gone and in the state
below. I had only written a few

mirrored pool unimportable (FAULTED)
Hi,
more than a year ago I created a mirrored ZFS-Pool consiting of 2x1TB
HDDs using the OSX 10.5 ZFS Kernel Extension (Zpool Version 8, ZFS
Version 2). Everything went fine and I used the pool to store personal
stuff on it, like lots of photos and music. (So getting the data back is
not time critical, but still important to me.)
Later, since the development of the ZFS extension was

My 500-gig ZFS is gone: insufficient replicas, corrupted data
Hi,
I''m running FreeBSD 7.1-PRERELEASE with a 500-gig ZFS drive. Recently I''ve encountered a FreeBSD problem (PR kern/128083) and decided about updating the motherboard BIOS. It looked like the update went right but after that I was shocked to see my ZFS destroyed! Rolling the BIOS back did not help.
Now it looks like that:

Mirrrors with Uneven Drives!?
I didn''t think this was possible, but apparently it is.
How does this work? How do you mirror data on a 3 disk set?

zpool import -f rpool hangs
I had the rpool with two sata disks in the miror. Solaris 10 5.10
Generic_141415-08 i86pc i386 i86pc
Unfortunately the first disk with grub loader has failed with unrecoverable
block write/read errors.
Now I have the problem to import rpool after the first disk has failed.
So I decided to do: "zpool import -f rpool" only with second disk, but it''s
hangs and the system is

10.0-BETA4 (upgraded from 9.2-RELEASE) zpool upgrade -> boot failure
Hi,
Is there anything known about ZFS under 10.0-BETA4 when FreeBSD was
upgraded from 9.2-RELEASE?
I have two servers, with very different hardware (on is with soft raid
and the other have not) and after a zpool upgrade, no way to get the
server booting.
Do I miss something when upgrading?
I cannot get the error message for the moment. I reinstalled the raid
server under Linux and the other

Single-disk pool corrupted after controller failure
I had a single spare 500GB HDD and I decided to install a FreeBSD file
server in it for learning purposes, and I moved almost all of my data
to it. Yesterday, and naturally after no longer having backups of the
data in the server, I had a controller failure (SiS 180 (oh, the
quality)) and the HDD was considered unplugged. When I noticed a few
checksum failures on `zfs status` (including two on
