[libnbd PATCH v2 00/13] Adding nbd_set_opt_mode to improve nbdinfo
Well, I'm not quite done (I still want to get nbdinfo to work on a single nbd connection for all cases when reading the heads of the file is not required), but I'm happy with patches 1-11, and 12-13 show where I'm headed for getting NBD_OPT_INFO to work. Posting now to see if some of the earlier patches are ready to commit while I continue working on the latter half. Eric Blake (13):

[libnbd PATCH v3 0/2] Implementing NBD_OPT_LIST
This is a subset of my v2 posting, but limited to just the NBD_OPT_LIST handling. The biggest change since v2 is the addition of added unit testing in all four language bindings (C, python, ocaml, golang). The tests require nbdkit built from git on PATH, and may not be entirely idiomatic, but I at least validated that they catch issues (for example, adding an exit statement near the end of the

[PATCH libnbd 0/4] lib: Atomically update h->state.
I need to think about this patch series a bit more, but it does at least pass the tests. Rich.

[libnbd PATCH] API: Add nbd_set_opt_mode to expose NEGOTIATING state
This is the bare minimum needed to allow the user to take control over the rest of option negotiating. This patch adds several new API: nbd_set_opt_mode() - called during Created to enable the new mode nbd_get_opt_mode() - query whether opt mode is enabled nbd_opt_go() - used in Negotiating state to attempt to use export nbd_opt_abort() - used in Negotiating state to skip Connected state

[libnbd PATCH 0/2] NBD_OPT_INFO support
This replaces 13/13 of my v2 series; and now that it has pretty good testsuite coverage and demonstrable performance improvement to nbdinfo, I'm going ahead and pushing this now. We may still want to add further nbd_opt_* commands for other fine-grained tuning of negotiation, but for now, I think things have stabilized on this end, and I can return to polishing .list_exports on the nbdkit

[PATCH libnbd] lib/errors.c: Fix assert fail in exit path in multi-threaded code
When a highly multi-threaded program such as nbdcopy encounters an error, there is a race condition in the library which can cause an assertion failure and thus a core dump: (1) An error occurs on one of the threads. nbdcopy calls exit(3). (2) In lib/errors.c, the destructor calls pthread_key_delete. (3) Another thread which is still running also encounters an error, and inside libnbd the

[nbdkit PATCH] connections: Be less noisy when client sends NBD_OPT_ABORT
At least 'nbd-client -l localhost' is a good demonstration of a client that legitimately sends NBD_OPT_ABORT - it exists only to enumerate the exports advertised by the server, rather than intending to connect to any of those exports. As such, we should downgrade the message for a client telling us it is going away to the same status as our debug message for NBD_CMD_DISC, given that the

[libnbd PATCH v2 06/13] api: Add nbd_opt_abort and nbd_aio_opt_abort
It is finally time to introduce our first negotiating option command. With this change, we can now enter NEWSTYLE.START more than once; as such, it needs to know whether it is the first entry (proceed with gflags/cflags, TLS, and structured reply) or a later entry (all nbd_opt_* will cause an IssueCommand event to kick the state machine out of NEGOTIATING, at which point we want to jump to the

Re: [PATCH libnbd 2/3] states: Add handle h->wflags field.
There's an obvious bug in this patch in that it doesn't reset the h->wflags field in all cases. Updated patch below. I rechecked the performance measurements and they are the same after the updated patch. Rich. >From 15a687b50acecebcfd3dc6222d93e6df984b83c6 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: "Richard W.M.
