zpool upgrade and zfs upgrade behavior on b145
Not sure what the best list to send this to is right now, so I have selected a few, apologies in advance. A couple questions. First I have a physical host (call him bob) that was just installed with b134 a few days ago. I upgraded to b145 using the instructions on the Illumos wiki yesterday. The pool has been upgraded (27) and the zfs file systems have been upgraded (5). chris at bob:~# zpool

zpool import is trying to tell me something...
I recently had an X86 system (running Nexenta Elatte, if that matters -- b101 kernel, I think) suffer hardware failure and refuse to boot. I''ve migrated the disks into a SPARC system (b115) in an attempt to bring the data back online while I see about repairing the former system. However, I''m having some trouble with the import process: hydra# zpool import pool: tank id:

zdb assertion failure/zpool recovery
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I have a corrupt pool, which lives on a .vdi file of a VirtualBox. IIRC the corruption (i.e. pool being not importable) was caused when I killed virtual box, because it was hung. This pool consists of a single vdev and I would really like to get some files out of that thing. So I tried running zdb, but this fails with an assertion failure:

Unable to import zpool since system hang during zfs destroy
Hi all, I have a RAID-Z zpool made up of 4 x SATA drives running on Nexenta 1.0.1 (OpenSolaris b85 kernel). It has on it some ZFS filesystems and few volumes that are shared to various windows boxes over iSCSI. On one particular iSCSI volume, I discovered that I had mistakenly deleted some files from the FAT32 partition that is on it. The files were still in a ZFS snapshot that was made earlier

Inconcistancies with scrub and zdb
Hi List, First of all: S10u4 120011-14 So I have the weird situation. Earlier this week, I finally mirrored up two iSCSI based pools. I had been wanting to do this for some time, because the availability of the data in these pools is important. One pool mirrored just fine, but the other pool is another story. First lesson (I think) is you should scrub your pools, at least those backed by

Kernel panic on import / interrupted zfs destroy
I have a box running snv_134 that had a little boo-boo. The problem first started a couple of weeks ago with some corruption on two filesystems in a 11 disk 10tb raidz2 set. I ran a couple of scrubs that revealed a handful of corrupt files on my 2 de-duplicated zfs filesystems. No biggie. I thought that my problems had something to do with de-duplication in 134, so I went about the process of

zpool version 3 & Uberblock version 9 , zpool upgrade only half succeeded?
We are currently experiencing a very huge perfomance drop on our zfs storage server. We have 2 pools, pool 1 stor is a raidz out of 7 iscsi nodes, home is a local mirror pool. Recently we had some issues with one of the storagenodes, because of that the pool was degraded. Since we did not succeed in bringing this storagenode back online (on zfs level) we upgraded our nashead from opensolaris b57

Single-disk rpool with inconsistent checksums, import fails
Hello all, I have an oi_148a PC with a single root disk, and since recently it fails to boot - hangs after the copyright message whenever I use any of my GRUB menu options. Booting with an oi_148a LiveUSB I had around since installation, I ran some zdb traversals over the rpool and zpool import attempts. The imports fail by running the kernel out of RAM (as recently discussed in the list with

Kernel panic on zfs import
Hi, I''ve got an OpenSolaris 2009.06 box that will reliably panic whenever I try to import one of my pools. What''s the best practice for recovering (before I resort to nuking the pool and restoring from backup)? There are two pools on the system: rpool and tank. The rpool seems to be fine, since I can boot from a 2009.06 CD and ''zpool import -f rpool''; I can

Need Help Invalidating Uberblock
I have a ZFS pool that has been corrupted. The pool contains a single device which was actually a file on UFS. The machine was accidentally halted and now the pool is corrupt. There are (of course) no backups and I''ve been asked to recover the pool. The system panics when trying to do anything with the pool. root@:/$ zpool status panic[cpu1]/thread=fffffe8000758c80: assertion failed:

Lost zpool after reboot
Hello, I have a dual boot with Windows 7 64 bit enterprise edition and Opensolaris build 134. This is on Sun Ultra 40 M1 workstation. Three hard drives, 2 in ZFS mirror, 1 is shared with Windows. Last 2 days I was working in Windows. I didn''t touch the hard drives in any way except I once opened Disk Management to figure out why a external USB hard drive is not being listed.

zpool import hangs system
Hello, I''ve been using Nexentastore Community Edition with no issues now for a while now, however last week I was going to rebuild a different system so I started to copy all the data off that to my to a raidz2 volume on me CE system. This was going fine until I noticed that they copy was stalled, as well as the entire system was non-responsive. I let it sit for several hours with no

ZFS recovery tools
Hi, I have just recovered from a ZFS crash. During the antagonizing time this took, I was surprised to learn how undocumented the tools and options for ZFS recovery we''re. I managed to recover thanks to some great forum posts from Victor Latushkin, however without his posts I would still be crying at night... I think the worst example is the zdb man page, which all it does is to ask you

slog / log recovery is here!
(From the README) # Jeb Campbell <jebc at c4solutions.net> NOTE: This is last resort if you need your data now. This worked for me, and I hope it works for you. If you have any reservations, please wait for Sun to release something official, and don''t blame me if your data is gone. PS -- This worked for me b/c I didn''t try and replace the log on a running system. My

How to know the recordsize of a file
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I would like to know the blocksize of a particular file. I know the blocksize for a particular file is decided at creation time, in fuction of the write size done and the recordsize property of the dataset. How can I access that information?. 10.0-BETA4 (upgraded from 9.2-RELEASE) zpool upgrade -> boot failure
Hi, Is there anything known about ZFS under 10.0-BETA4 when FreeBSD was upgraded from 9.2-RELEASE? I have two servers, with very different hardware (on is with soft raid and the other have not) and after a zpool upgrade, no way to get the server booting. Do I miss something when upgrading? I cannot get the error message for the moment. I reinstalled the raid server under Linux and the other
