ZIL controls in Solaris 10 U4?
Is it true that Solaris 10 u4 does not have any of the nice ZIL controls that exist in the various recent Open Solaris flavors? I would like to move my ZIL to solid state storage, but I fear I can''t do it until I have another update. Heck, I would be happy to just be able to turn the ZIL off to see how my NFS on ZFS performance is effected before spending the $''s. Anyone

Inconcistancies with scrub and zdb
Hi List, First of all: S10u4 120011-14 So I have the weird situation. Earlier this week, I finally mirrored up two iSCSI based pools. I had been wanting to do this for some time, because the availability of the data in these pools is important. One pool mirrored just fine, but the other pool is another story. First lesson (I think) is you should scrub your pools, at least those backed by

OpenSolaris ZFS NAS Setup
If it''s of interest, I''ve written up some articles on my experiences of building a ZFS NAS box which you can read here: http://breden.org.uk/2008/03/02/a-home-fileserver-using-zfs/ I used CIFS to share the filesystems, but it will be a simple matter to use NFS instead: issue the command ''zfs set sharenfs=on pool/filesystem'' instead of ''zfs set

add device to mirror rpool in sol11exp
In my new oracle server, sol11exp, it''s using multipath device names... Presently I have two disks attached: (I removed the other 10 disks for now, because these device names are so confusing. This way I can focus on *just* the OS disks.) 0. c0t5000C5003424396Bd0 <SEAGATE-ST32000SSSUN2.0-0514 cyl 3260 alt 2 hd 255 sec 252> /scsi_vhci/disk at g5000c5003424396b

Move data from the zpool (root) to a zfs file system
Hi List, As a ZFS newbie, I foolishly copied my data set to the root zpool file system (a large iSCSI SAN array). Thus: # zpool create -f iscsi c4t19d0 c4t20d0 c4t21d0 c4t22d0 c4t23d0 c4t24d0 # zpool list NAME SIZE USED AVAIL CAP HEALTH ALTROOT iscsi 9.53T 64.5K 5.34T 0% ONLINE - # zfs set mountpoint=/mydisks/iscsi iscsi Then copied

mpt_sas multipath problem?
Greetings, We''re trying out a new JBOD here. Multipath (mpxio) is not working, and we could use some feedback and/or troubleshooting advice. The OS is oi151a7, running on an existing server with a 54TB pool of internal drives. I believe the server hardware is not relevant to the JBOD issue, although the internal drives do appear to the OS with multipath device names (despite the fact

Direct I/O ability with zfs?
We are using MySQL, and love the idea of using zfs for this. We are used to using Direct I/O to bypass file system caching (let the DB do this). Does this exist for zfs? This message posted from opensolaris.org

>1TB ZFS thin provisioned partition prevents Opensolaris from booting.
Not sure where to put this but I am cc''ing the ZFS - discussion board. I was successfull in creating iscsi shares using ZFS set shareiscsi=on with 2 thin provisioned partitions of 1TB each (zfs create -s -V 1tb idrive/d1). Access to the shares with an iscsi initiator was successful, all was smooth, until the reboot. Upon reboot, the console reports the following errors. WARNING:

Performance Tuning - ZFS, Oracle and T2000
Hi All, We are currently in the process of testing Solaris 10 with ZFS and Oracle and are running it on a T2000. When checking performance statistics on the T2000, we notice that only one thread of the CPU appears to be doing any of the processing. Leaving all other threads seemingly idle. Are there any tuning parameters that need to be set or changed when running Oracle on T2000 using

Would this work well as a separate ZIL device for ZFS? Is there any way I could use this in a T2000 server? The brackets appear to be

AMD/Supermicro machine - AS-2022G-URF
Sorry for the long post but I know trying to decide on hardware often want to see details about what people are using. I have the following AS-2022G-URF machine running OpenGaryIndiana[1] that I am starting to use. I successfully transferred a deduped zpool with 1.x TB of files and 60 or so zfs filesystems using mbuffer from an old 134 system with 6 drives - it ran at about 50MB/s or
