Local R Training
Hello List,
I am new to R and statistics in general.
My two colleges and I would like to get some training in the proper
usage of R.
A quick internet search provided no results for the region of Basel in
Switzerland.
Does some one on this list knows of any trainers or schools in the
region in question or where to look next?

How do I add a rug to a 3d 'persp' plot?
Hi all,
I have a (hopefully quick) question. I've got a fascinating set of fitted
surfaces in three dimensions corresponding to local linear multiple
regressions. I'd like to add rugs to the X and Y axes (corresponding to my
independent variables) in order to get a sense for how many data points I'm
working with to graph various portions of the surfaces. The trouble is, I

Remove missing observations
Hi everyone
I have the following problem: My dataframe has 3 variables: ID, Year and
and an outcome variable. The dataframe contains repeated measurements
because the subjects filled out a questionnaire every year. The time span
covers 2 years.
Now I want to check if there is a significant change in the outcome over
the 2 years with a paired wilcox.test. The problem: Not every subject

Root forest/regional forest set up...
Hi list,
All the docs I've seen use a combined root forest/regional setup,
whereas I'd like to have separate regional trees under an essentially
empty root forest. How does this work? If it matters, I'll be
migrating a Samba3 NT-style PDC to provision the regional forest.
Links to relevant docs or any info appreciated.
Thanks!

axis and tick widths decoupled (especially in rugs!)
Hi!
(a complete newby, but will not give up easily!)
I was wondering if there is any way to decouple the axis and tick mark
widths? As I understand they are both controlled by the lwd setting, and
cannot be controlled independently? For example I might want to create major
and minor ticks, which I now know how to do by superimposing two axes with
different at settings, but what if I also wanted

[OT] spa3000 (Regional & Line1) NL settings required
Dear all,
Can someone from Netherlands who has SPA3000 send me the Regional & Line1
settings.
I'm not sure what is wrong but I can call from asterisk to phone attached to
spa300 FXO, but not the other way. I tested three phones: siemens gigaset,
tiptel 160 and hpoj k80(fax). Only tiptel 160 can call to the asterisk,
other two just dial but nothing happens. I guess this has something with

Setting Regional Settings without setting the locale
I have a client that wants to run our program under Wine as if the client had
changed the Regional Settings to Spanish.
As I understand it that is most easily accomplished by e.g.
LANG=es_ES wine myprog
Unfortunately there is a slight problem in that the program goes through
unixODBC down into IBM DB2 and that then picks up the LANG setting itself and
does some translating that actually it

Antw: Re: Confidence interval for the difference between proportions - method used in prop.test()
Dear Josh,
Thanks for your help!
Does your answer mean, that you agree the two methods should do the same, and what I was guessing, despite the small differences?
What I prefer about ci.pd is, that the help clearly says which method is implemented, which is not the case for prop.test. But I do not know who has programmed the function.
Best wishes

Editor for Mac OSX
Dear R-list
I am (forced) to change from Linux to Mac and am now looking for a new editor for R. I would like one that features a split window (console + editor) as well as syntax highlighting. Can anyone help? Especially the split-window feature does not seem to be easily available in the editors desribed on the R-help site, except Emacs, which I am reluctant to start using. I am on a MacBook Air

I run your code. It have a graph with time(date) on x-axis. Thank you very much!
Well, Would you like to do me a favor again?
Most of times, the x-axis time data is lasted about 3 months. They are too much. I must select some of them marking in x-axis,and they are must reasonable and human-readable. Now I have tried the "pretty " function, But as soon as I run it, the

Specifying special poisson maximum likelihood
Hi everyone
I am stuck on specifying my own maximum likelihood function for a
special poisson model.
My poisson model is as follow: O ~ Pois(b*N + b*RR*E)
With
O = observed cases
b = constant (known)
N = number of unexposed persons (known)
E = number exposed persons (known)
RR = relative risk (value is assumed under a scenario, e.g. RR=2.0)
I used rpois to simulate the values of O for several
