xend:default won''t start due to /usr/bin/kstat not locating autosplit.ix
Short:     Which package do I need to install to get "auto/I18N/Langinfo/autosplit.ix"? Long: The problem I have was discussed almost a year ago (see this thread), but the resolution was not complete... I''m using Mark Johnson''s slim.py script (package list below), against repo=http://pkg.opensolaris.org/dev, followed by `pkg install xvm-gui` and `svcadm enable

snv_42 zfs/zpool dump core and kernel/fs/zfs won''t load.
I''m pretty sure this is my fault but I need some help in fixing the system. It was installed at one point with snv_29 with the pre integration SUNWzfs package. I did a live upgrade to snv_42 but forgot to remove the old SUNWzfs before I did so. When the system booted up got complaints about kstat install because I still had an old zpool kernel module lying around. So I did pkgrm

ZFS behavior under limited resources
I am trying to see how ZFS behaves under resource starvation - corner cases in embedded environments. I see some very strange behavior. Any help/explanation would really be appreciated. My current setup is : OpenSolaris 111b (iSCSI seems to be broken in 132 - unable to get multiple connections/mutlipathing) iSCSI Storage Array that is capable of 20 MB/s random writes @ 4k and 70 MB random reads

Under DTrace USDT and PID, kernel''s microstat accounting doesn''t work in this situation, doesn''t it?

[DTrace] %CPU, %Mem, %Disk and %Net by PID
G''Day Folks, Well, this one was my white whale. I now have a demonstration program that uses Perl, Kstat, /proc/*/usage, /proc/*/psinfo, and DTrace. The program itself is more of a prototype, I want to get serious about it and rewrite it in C. It currently has output like, # prustat -t5 -snet 10 PID %CPU %Mem %Disk %Net COMM 90 0.00 0.09 0.00 0.00

UV fastpath after Crossbow
Hi the Crossbow team, I am testing my UV fastpath bits and I found several issues that need your suggestion: 1. dladm show-usage won''t work if UV fastpath is enabled. Since the link usage data are collected based on the statistics of the mac_client_impl_t, and UV fastpath skips the GLDv3 processing, that won''t be available. I don''t see a solution for this except

Basis of fisher.test
I want to ascertain the basis of the table ranking, i.e. the meaning of "extreme", in Fisher's Exact Test as implemented in 'fisher.test', when applied to RxC tables which are larger than 2x2. One can summarise a strategy for the test as 1) For each table compatible with the margins of the observed table, compute the probability of this table conditional on the

RFE: parsable iostat and zpool layout
I would like zpool iostat to take a "-p" option to output parsable statistics with absolute counters/figures that for example could be fed to MRTG, RRD, et al. The "zpool iostat [-v] POOL 60 [N]" is great for humans but not very api-friendly; N=2 is a bit overkill and unreliable. Is this info available in kstat, or is this an RFE candidate? In Solaris10? Ditto for zpool

kernel memory and zfs
We have a 32 GB RAM server running about 14 zones. There are multiple databases, application servers, web servers, and ftp servers running in the various zones. I understand that using ZFS will increase kernel memory usage, however I am a bit concerned at this point. root at servername:~/zonecfg #mdb -k Loading modules: [ unix krtld genunix specfs dtrace uppc pcplusmp ufs md mpt ip indmux ptm

[LLVMdev] MachineOperand Fixed Register
Is there any way to determine if a Register-type MachineOperand represents a fixed machine register? For example, call arguments must end up in specific machine register but I don't see any way to ascertain this from the information in MachineOperand. Basically, I need to know if I am allowed to rename a MachineOperand or not after register allocation. Thanks!

ARCSTAT Kstat Definitions
Would someone "in the know" be willing to write up (preferably blog) definitive definitions/explanations of all the arcstats provided via kstat? I''m struggling with proper interpretation of certain values, namely "p", "memory_throttle_count", and the mru/mfu+ghost hit vs demand/prefetch hit counters. I think I''ve got it figured out, but
