[install-discuss] lucreate into New ZFS pool
Hello, Since I''ve got my disk partitioning sorted out now, I want to move my BE from the old disk to the new disk. I created a new zpool, named RPOOL for distinction with the existing "rpool". I then did lucreate -p RPOOL -n new95 This completed without error, the log is at the bottom of this mail. I have not yet dared to run luactivate. I also have not yet dared set the

ZFS - SWAP and lucreate..
Good morning everybody I was migrating my ufs ? rootfilesystem to a zfs ? one, but was a little upset finding out that it became bigger (what was clear because of the swap and dump size). Now I am questioning myself if it is possible to set the swap and dump size by using the lucreate ? command (I wanna try it again but on less space). Unfortunately I did not find any advice in manpages.

getting opensolaris b85 domU to start
Folks: I am unable to get my opensolaris sn-b85 domU to start up in an opensolaris sn-b85 dom0. I am booted to xvm. Other systems, such as Fedora 8, WinXP Pro, W2k3 server, W2k8 server and Windows Vista startup normally. I have used the following to build the domU: # mkfile -n 25g /solhvm/solhvm.img # ls -l /solhvm total 269 -rw------T 1 root root 26843545600 Jul 7 10:37 solhvm.img

SUCCESS: OpenSSH_6.7p1-snap20150220
Compiled OK, and operating nicely on CentOS 6.6, both 32/64 bit. Really appreciate the UpdateHostkeys feature! One issue I noticed, the screen output gets garbled if the user has been "asked" to "Accept" the new hostkeys. Looks like the screen output is missing the CR's, and only LF's get presented. [root at be2 .ssh]# ssh be1 ls -l Warning: Permanently added

Recover ZFS destroyed dataset?
I was asked by a coworker about recovering destroyed datasets on ZFS - and whether it is possible at all? As a related question, if a filesystem dataset was recursively destroyed along with all its snapshots, is there some means to at least find some pointers whether it existed at all? I remember "zpool import -D" can be used to import whole destroyed pools. But crawling around the

saving vector output as numeric
Hi everybody, I'm trying to create a numerical data frame on which to perform PRCC. So far I have created a data frame that consists of function/vector output that displays in numerical form, but when I try and run PRCC (from epiR package) I get the following error message: "Error in solve.default(C) : Lapack routine dgesv: system is exactly singular" It appears this is because

patching a solaris server with zones on zfs file systems
Hi All, Please let me know the procedure how to patch a server which is having 5 zones on zfs file systems. Root file system exists on internal disk and zones are existed on SAN. latin hypercube sampling
Hi all, I am attempting to use latin hypercube sampling to sample different variable functions in a series of simultaneous differential equations. There is very little code online about lhs or clhs, so from different other help threads I have seen, it seems I need to create a probability density function for each variable function, and then use latin hypercube sampling on this pdf. So far, I

Best Practices recommendation on x4200
Greetings all- I have a new X4200 that I''m getting ready to deploy. It has four 146 GB SAS drives. I''d like to setup the box for maximum redundancy on the data stored on these drives. Unfortunately, it looks like ZFS boot/root aren''t really options at this time. The LSI Logic controller in this box only supports either a RAID0 array with all four disks, or a RAID 1

slog devices don''t resilver correctly
This past weekend, but holiday was ruined due to a log device "replacement" gone awry. I posted all about it here: http://jmlittle.blogspot.com/2008/05/problem-with-slogs-how-i-lost.html In a nutshell, an resilver of a single log device with itself, due to the fact one can''t remove a log device from a pool once defined, cause ZFS to fully resilver but then attach the log

luactivate: how to fix things from boot:net?
So after tinkering with lucreate and luactivate I now have several boot environments but the active one is unfortunately not bootable. How can I access the luactivate command from boot:net? boot net:dhcp -s mkdir /tmp/mnt zpool import -R /tmp/mnt rpool I poke around in /tmp/mnt but do not find usr/sbin under there. This is on Sparc. I suppose I could manually edit /tmp/mnt/rpool/boot/menu.lst

Bad SWAP performance from zvol
I''ve upgraded my system from ufs to zfs (root pool). By default, it creates a zvol for dump and swap. It''s a 4GB Ultra-45 and every late night/morning I run a job which takes around 2GB of memory. With a zvol swap, the system becomes unusable and the Sun Ray client often goes into "26B". So I removed the zvol swap and now I have a standard swap partition. The

zfs sparc boot "Bad magic number in disk label"
Hello, I recently installed SunOS 5.11 snv_91 onto a Ultra 60 UPA/PCI with OpenBoot 3.31 and two 300GB SCSI disks. The root file system is UFS on c0t0d0s0. Following the steps in ZFS Admin I have attempted to convert root to ZFS utilizing c0t1d0s0. However, upon "init 6" I am always presented with: Bad magic number in disk label can''t open disk label package My Steps: 1)

ZFS Boot Won''t work with a straight or mirror zfsroot
Using build 70, I followed the zfsboot instructions at http:// www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/boot/zfsboot-manual/ to the letter. I tried first with a mirror zfsroot, when I try to boot to zfsboot the screen is flooded with "init(1M) exited on fatal signal 9" Than I tried with a simple zfs pool (not mirrored) and it just reboots right away. If I try to setup grub

Unable to import zpool since system hang during zfs destroy
Hi all, I have a RAID-Z zpool made up of 4 x SATA drives running on Nexenta 1.0.1 (OpenSolaris b85 kernel). It has on it some ZFS filesystems and few volumes that are shared to various windows boxes over iSCSI. On one particular iSCSI volume, I discovered that I had mistakenly deleted some files from the FAT32 partition that is on it. The files were still in a ZFS snapshot that was made earlier

Error with epiR and sensitivity
Hi everyone, I emailed yesterday thinking I had a problem with reading matrix information as numerical output into epiR. After working on the data frame today, I realise it's a problem with the data itself rather than the syntax. /dev/random problem after moving to zfs boot:
I have one thing happening now at boot which must have happened during the migration to zfs boot. I get an error message about /dev/random: "No randomness provider enabled for /dev/random. Use cryptoadm to provide one." Does anyone know how to fix this? Another thing: Is it possible to upgrade to a higher build when using zfs boot? Is this what LiveUpgrade does? And is there a step by

ASRock B85M Pro4 micro-ATX Motherboard Supports VT-d!!!
Hi, I have just upgraded my computer to Intel Core i5-4430 Quad Core @ 3.0 GHz (supports VT-d), ASRock B85M Pro4 micro-ATX LGA1150 motherboard (supports VT-d), 8 GB Kingston DDR3-1600 memory and Cooler Master Elite 311 ATX casing (all for SGD$501). I made my computer upgrade on Independence Day 4th July 2013. I have also flashed the UEFI BIOS of ASRock B85M Pro4 motherboard to version 1.50.
