winbind error after startup on Samba member server
Hi folks,
The last log record from journalctl -xeu winbind directly after winbind
startup is:
Jun 13 12:41:36 datasrv winbindd[582]: gpupdate_cmd_done: gpupdate
failed with exit status 1
For completeness, the log entries for winbind startup is displayed below.
Things seem to work though, but I have never seen it before (I don't
like error messages). When I noticed the message I

GPOs don't work after update from Samba4.0 alpha 17 to 4.0.1
Hi!
I have updated our server from Samba 4 alpha 17 to Samba 4.0.1.
Everything seems to work fine after some reconfiguration, but our
GPOs are not working anymore.
Samba 4 alpha 17 was using ntvfs and the root partition with the sysvol share was mounted with "user_xattr" only in /etc/fstab.
Samba 4.0.1 is now set to use s3fs and the root partition is mouted with

GPO
Hi All,
I create a Samba domain and works it's great, the issue that I have is with the GPO's.When applying GPO's then only the computer Policy is applied and not the user GPO. I keep on receiving below error.
Has anybody else perhaps been experiencing the same issues?
C:\>gpupdate /force

No Chrome RSOP
Hi again,
Looking at setting group policy for Linux desktops's chrome installs. Reading through the group policy book (https://dmulder.github.io/group-policy-book/chrome.html#server-side-extension-10) it says I should have some RSOP's for chrome when I've set a policy except Im not seeing these set. I have a policy that is supposed to be setting the home url under

samba-tool gpo listall error
Greeting,
I'm trying to figure out how to use GPOs in my samba AD. There's an awful
lot that I don't know. But along the way of learning I found this:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/GPO_Backup_and_Restore
And I decided to try the "samba-tool gpo listall" command that I found
there to confirm that samba thinks it has the GPOs that I think it does.
But I get this error:

User has no RSOP data ?
samba-4.8.12 on 2 DCs, replication works ...
An external admin joined a new PC and the GPOs aren't pulled ...
we get something like "user has no rsop data"
Additionally if I run the RSAT(?) tool on a windows member server it
also has issues connecting to the AD. I can connect by entering a IP of
a DC, though.
I suspect a missing/wrong DNS entry?

samba-tool gpo listall error
More problems...
So cat /etc/resolv.conf yields nothing.
root at ad2:~# ll /etc/resolv.conf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39 Jun 17 2018 /etc/resolv.conf ->
../run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf
Shows a broken link. Since this is Ubuntu 18.04 with systemd and the
stub-resolv.conf missing, I'm lost. I'll test my google fu to try to figure
this out, but if someone can point me in the right
