vista on mongrel
Hi,
I have installed mongrel on Vista and my app runs *really* slowly. Checking
Net stats in firebug shows each html request for the assets taking ~1s.
Running same app on XP is fine and running as webrick on vista is fine too.
There is also a strange pattern : each of the http requests to mongrel take
marginally more than 1s, e.g. 1.04, 1.05
on webrick each request takes ~ 4-40ms.
Very odd

Problem with Windows & Apache Setup
I''m using Mongrel 1.0.1 and Apache 2.0 to serve up a handulf of Rails
applications.
Apache proxies requests to the instances of Mongrel and uses
ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse to deliver static files.
The Rails application uses sessions, and this appears to be where the
issue is occurring.
If too many users login to the application, then at some point the
application stops

session caching in mongrel
Is there some kind of caching of session data in mongrel? What is the best
way to get mongrel servers within a cluster to always keep their sessions
synced?

mongrel logging on win32 platform and win32 service
Hi All
I am using version 0.3.13.3 and since there is no logging support for win32
application. I was wondering if it was possible to get any kind of logging
at all.
I have tried to these two options
1. Stream redirection using "mongrel_rails start -c C:/myspace/snapshot -p
4111 -t 70 -e production -P log/mongrel-1.pid > C:\temp\mongrel-1.log"
The console print the output stream

No log/mongrel.log file under win32.
To follow up this bug report:
When you run mongrel_rails without the daemonize option -d on
*nix, it also don''t generate log/mongrel.log file!
Because win32 cannot Process.fork like *nix, should it start
logging to logfile after showing Ctrl+C option?
Suggestions are welcome on how to reply to this "feature".

Mongrel on Vista as a service
Hi Everyone,
I was hoping some one could help me out with an issue I''m having with
mongrel on Vista.
I have a ruby on rails application that runs fine with mongrel when I
double click on it. Command window opens, server starts and works just fine.
For the same application, after I install the service using
mongrel_service, and I try to start it, it fails. Vista says that the

Mongrel wiki?
Dear Mongrels,
The same questions keep coming up over and over on the list, which is
ok, but not really optimal. If we added a wiki to the Mongrel site to
handle FAQs, what wiki should it be?
Required features would be:
* Spam protection
* Doesn''t look shitty
I would probably spring for Trac (and also migrate the bugtracker) if
noone else has opinions, but I''m sure some of

Mongrel Service won''t start on windows
64bit Intel 8 CPU server
Windows 2003 Server
Service set to run as LocalSystem, doesn''t work as user account either
The error we see is:
"Service failed to start in a timely..."
Which I have seen in the past email trails as working
The app works from mongrel_rails start and from mongrel_service console -N
servicename -p 3000 -c c:\rails_apps\appname -e production

Win32 gems for mongrel (0.3.18) and mongrel_service (0.3.1)
Hello Users!,
Since the pre-release 0.3.18 (last week) Lot of things happen in
ruby-land (check the DoS security bulletin, please).
Anyway, the win32 folks being left on the side of the road, and cannot
provide feedback of stability due lack of binaries for the latest
releases.
So, I managed to upload the pre-built gem to my host:

mongrel_rails service on windows incompatible with recent ruby builds?
i was suffering from a massive memory leak in my application. after
searching and testing for quite a while i finally found that it wasn''t
my app that had a leak but the win32ole support that was used by the
ADO driver in sqlserver adapter.
the solution to fix the leak was to install ruby 1.8.5p52 or 1.8.6p36
but sadly as soon i install one of the fixed releases mongrel won''t

Best practice Ruby on Rails on Windows configuration
Hi,
I have read many articles on the net today about configuring Ruby on Rails
on a Windows server. But there doesn''t seem to a one solution for all on how
to configure a new Ruby on Rails server. So I can use some advise with this.
I am using a Windows 2003 server and don''t get many request a day. But most
of the request are quite heavy. The main focus is on optimizing the

mongrel install on win32 XP problems
I can''t get mongrel installed on a Win XP. I keep getting some unknown
error with this "win32-service-0.5.2". While it states results are
logged, the file is empty - not much help. I even tried complete
uninstall of ruby and reinstalled ruby 1.8.5-21. But no luck.
Oddly, I had no problem installing earlier on a Win 2K machine. Is
there something special about XP?

Custom Matcher and NAME NOT GENERATED annoyance
Hello RSpec users,
Have been using RSpec since 0.8.2 (not too long ago, I must say). and
been creating my custom matchers since was defined as "good practice".
Also, auto-generated names for the examples is very helpful, I''m
trying to take advantage of it.
Since I often prior code/define all the "examples", I have created a
few matchers to fulfill associations and
