zpool export consumes whole CPU and takes more than 30 minutes to complete
Hi. T2000 1.2GHz 8-core, 32GB RAM, S10U3, zil_disable=1. Command ''zpool export f3-2'' is hung for 30 minutes now and still is going. Nothing else is running on the server. I can see one CPU being 100% in SYS like: bash-3.00# mpstat 1 [...] CPU minf mjf xcal intr ithr csw icsw migr smtx srw syscl usr sys wt idl 0 0 0 67 220 110 20 0 0 0 0

NFS/ZFS performance problems - txg_wait_open() deadlocks?
Hi. System is snv_56 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440, zil_disable=1 We see many operation on nfs clients to that server really slow (like 90 seconds for unlink()). It''s not a problem with network, there''s also plenty oc CPU available. Storage isn''t saturated either. First strange thing - normally on that server nfsd has about 1500-2500 number of threads. I did

ZFS pool fragmentation
I have a huge problem with ZFS pool fragmentation. I started investigating problem about 2 weeks ago http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=34423&tstart=0 I found workaround for now - changing recordsize - but I want better solution. The best solution would be a defragmentator tool, but I can see that it is not easy. When ZFS pool is fragmented then: 1. spa_sync function is

Forensics related ZFS questions
1. Does variable FSB block sizing extend to files larger than record size, concerning the last FSB allocated? In other words, for files larger than 128KB, that utilize more than one full recordsize FSB, will the LAST FSB allocated be ''right-sized'' to fit the remaining data, or will ZFS allocate a full recordsize FSB for the last ''chunk'' of the file? Any news on ZFS bug 6535172?
We''re running a Cyrus IMAP server on a T2000 under Solaris 10 with about 1 TB of mailboxes on ZFS filesystems. Recently, when under load, we''ve had incidents where IMAP operations became very slow. The general symptoms are that the number of imapd, pop3d, and lmtpd processes increases, the CPU load average increases, but the ZFS I/O bandwidth decreases. At the same time, ZFS

Solaris 10 / ZFS file system major/minor number
Hi, In migrating from **VM to ZFS am I going to have an issue with Major/Minor numbers with NFS mounts? Take the following scenario. 1. NFS clients are connected to an active NFS server that has SAN shared storage between the active and standby nodes in a cluster. 2. The NFS clients are using the major/minor numbers on the active node in the cluster to communicate to the NFS active server. 3.

ZFS Performance Issue
This may not be a ZFS issue, so please bear with me! I have 4 internal drives that I have striped/mirrored with ZFS and have an application server which is reading/writing to hundreds of thousands of files on it, thousands of files @ a time. If 1 client uses the app server, the transaction (reading/writing to ~80 files) takes about 200 ms. If I have about 80 clients attempting it @ once, it can

Self-tuning recordsize
Would it be worthwhile to implement heuristics to auto-tune ''recordsize'', or would that not be worth the effort? -- Regards, Jeremy

zfs list extentions related to pNFS
Hi, I am soliciting input from the ZFS engineers and/or ZFS users on an extension to "zfs list". Thanks in advance for your feedback. Quick Background: The pNFS project (http://opensolaris.org/os/project/nfsv41/) is adding a new DMU object set type which is used on the pNFS data server to store pNFS stripe DMU objects. A pNFS dataset gets created with the "zfs

Is ZFS efficient for large collections of small files?
Is ZFS efficient at handling huge populations of tiny-to-small files - for example, 20 million TIFF images in a collection, each between 5 and 500k in size? I am asking because I could have sworn that I read somewhere that it isn''t, but I can''t find the reference. Thanks, Brian -- - Brian Gupta http://opensolaris.org/os/project/nycosug/

ZFS, XFS, and EXT4 compared
I have a lot of people whispering "zfs" in my virtual ear these days, and at the same time I have an irrational attachment to xfs based entirely on its lack of the 32000 subdirectory limit. I''m not afraid of ext4''s newness, since really a lot of that stuff has been in Lustre for years. So a-benchmarking I went. Results at the bottom:

6Tb Database with ZFS
Hello, Im about to migrate a 6Tb database from Veritas Volume Manager to ZFS, I want to set arc_max parameter so ZFS cant use all my system''s memory, but i dont know how much i should set, do you think 24Gb will be enough for a 6Tb database? obviously the more the better but i cant set too much memory. Have someone implemented succesfully something similar? We ran some test and the

ZFS Dedup question
I created a zfs pool with dedup with the following settings: zpool create data c8t1d0 zfs create data/shared zfs set dedup=on data/shared The thing I was wondering about was it seems like ZFS only dedup at the file level and not the block. When I make multiple copies of a file to the store I see an increase in the deup ratio, but when I copy similar files the ratio stays at 1.00x. -- This

Memory leak scripts
Hola, I am trying to isolate the memory leak I suspect in a mailman installation ? slog devices don''t resilver correctly
This past weekend, but holiday was ruined due to a log device "replacement" gone awry. I posted all about it here: http://jmlittle.blogspot.com/2008/05/problem-with-slogs-how-i-lost.html In a nutshell, an resilver of a single log device with itself, due to the fact one can''t remove a log device from a pool once defined, cause ZFS to fully resilver but then attach the log

100% random writes coming out as 50/50 reads/writes
I''m running on s10s_u4wos_12b and doing the following test. Create a pool, striped across 4 physical disks from a storage array. Write a 100GB file to the filesystem (dd from /dev/zero out to the file). Run I/O against that file, doing 100% random writes with an 8K block size. zpool iostat shows the following... capacity operations bandwidth pool used

zfs send and recordsize
Hi Everyone, I perform a snapshot and a zfs send on a filesystem with a recordsize of 16k, and redirect the output to a plain file. Later, I use cat sentfs | zfs receive otherpool/filesystem. In this case the new filesystem''s recordsize will be the default 128k again. The other filesystem attributes (for example atime) are reverted to defaults too. Okay, I can set these later,

Error while working with png output on linux server
Thanks for your reply. I searched for the error on Google before resorting to the R forum (help group). I tried Sys.env(...) too, but didn't resolve the error I get. Hence I am looking for solution. -- -----Original Message----- From: Thierry Onkelinx [mailto:thierry.onkelinx at inbo.be] Sent: Thursday, February 01, 2018 10:57 AM To: Sariya, Sanjeev <ss5505 at cumc.columbia.edu>

Doubt regarding priority of classes with HTB
Hi, I''m a bit confused with the priority of different classes with HTB. How it will be? Will the class with lowest no: have maximum priority? Any help is most appreciated, Thanks in advance, Sanjeev -- ______________________________________________ Check out the latest SMS services @ http://www.linuxmail.org This allows you to send and receive SMS through your mailbox.
