Packages build for Solaris ? As CSW packages ?
Well imitation is the highest form of flattery they say. So I''m surprised to see these packages neatly built to install into /opt/csw correctly and yet they exist somewhere else and have nothing to do with us here at Blastwave. fascinating. I guess we can always send an email to the person doing this and just ask if they want those packages in testing and then into the catalog for

How to discern when like dir names exist in 2 places
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I was actually in the include/exclude section of the man page not the filter section. However, your syntax does work. The +/- syntax absolutely works in an --exclude-from or --include-from file I use it all the time. However, apparently the -/ syntax does not work there. So, I am not sure if the man page is wrong or if this feature just isn't

dovecot 2.0.2 compile issues on Solaris 10u8 Sparc
I am having compile problems with Dovecot v2.0.2 on a well patched Solaris 10u8 Sparc system using the included gcc compiler. Version 2.0.0 compiled with out any issues using the same configure syntax. My ./configure syntax looks like this: ./configure --with-ssl=openssl --with-shadow Yahoo and Google searches turned up nothing for me. Reviewing the file mountpoint.c between version 2.0.0

ssh-rand-helper probs
Hi all Am i doing this right? Is this the right list to post to? If not, a quick lesson in ettiquette for me would not hurt. As I am both just starting to use newsgroups and SSH, I am not entirely familiar with the processes. I have a question about ssh-rand-helper. First an outline: I am currently using the SSH packages for Solaris 2.8 available at sunfreeware.com. The environment is

children of objects are not instantiated?
Hello, I''m a Java developer and I''m looking at Rails as a very interesting thing. I read the article http://theserverside.com/articles/article.tss?l=RailsHibernate and saw a couple of things that I didn''t like too much: 1) The N+1 problem This has been discussed in the thread (or should I say "flame"?) "Java people want to beat us". It seems

Computer accounts belonging to groups, using winbind on file server
Thank you Rowland, I like your thinking - made sense to me. I had already allocated a GID to Domain Computers: [root at fileserver ~]# getent group Domain\ Computers domain computers:x:12345: however I just now tried adding a uidNumber attribute to one of my computer objects using ADSIEdit and hey presto, that computer now appears in 'getent passwd'! I wonder if there is some fix that

packages and Solaris
Hi folks, I''m about to propose to my current company that we use puppet to manage releases of home grown software. The environment is a mix of Solaris 8/9/10 and RHEL 5&6. I''ve got a handle on how to create recipes to release software into the RHEL environment. The unknown for me is how to manipulate the pkgadd provider to load the locally grown package stream. Can

SAS Enterprise Miner -- OT
Sorry for the OT query, but does anyone know if there is open-source software that can read data saved as SAS enterprise miner? We have recently received data in this format for a project and the SAS add-on is $35,000. I've searched around a bit using my friends google and r-site, but haven't found anything. So, I'm appealing to others on the list. Thanks, Harold [[alternative HTML

Interesting ActiveRecord vs Hibernate article
For those haven''t seen it yet, Patrick Peak has an interesting article at the Server Side (www.theserverside.com) discussing the differences between the Hibernate (www.hibernate.org) peristence framework and ActiveRecord.  The article can be found here: http://www.theserverside.com/articles/article.tss?l=RailsHibernate .  Patrick Peak is the author of _Hibernate Quickly_ (Manning), which

Statistical / data mining methods in R and not in SAS?
Hi, and sorry for asking such an unspecific question. Does anybody know of statistical / data mining methods that are available in R that are not in SAS ? With SAS I mean the SAS System Version 9.4 and SAS Enterprise Miner. I don't expect a complete list, just two or three examples or hints where and what to look for. I found some older comparisons, and the R methods mentioned there
