SolrCore 'dovecot' is not available due to init failure: fieldType 'text_general' not found in the schema

If the config was actually designed for 7.7, then it will work in 8.0. If it was designed for 5.x or 6.x, there's a chance it won't work. It sounds like you have a solrconfig.xml file and a schema file that are

removing 'use_libfts' from dovecot fts_solr config; docs/examples of solr-backend-only tokenizer config for dovecot?
given existing problems with fts_solr = ... use_libfts ... i've rm'd it from dovecot config, and am moving all tokenization to solr config. iiuc, in dovecot + solr context, that's correctly config'd in solr/data/dovecot/conf/schema.xml dovecot release ships with 'starter configs', cp -af /usr/share/doc/dovecot/solr-config-7.7.0.xml

Do we really need Solr commit as cronjob?
I am testing Solr FTS on dovecot. Read online that some suggested to run cronjob commit every minute, and optimize once a day. I am using Solr 7.1.0 and I see some configurations: In /etc/default/solr.in.sh: #SOLR_OPTS="$SOLR_OPTS -Dsolr.autoSoftCommit.maxTime=3000" #SOLR_OPTS="$SOLR_OPTS -Dsolr.autoCommit.maxTime=60000" Also in solrconfig.xml: ??? <autoCommit>

Solr
After some testsing, I managed to get proper functionning - The schema.xml is attached below (quite different from the one provided on teh wiki) (in bold the core differences) (NGramFilterFactory is the class that replace the fts_squat "partial=3 full=15", everything else is just a big hammer to smash a tiny fly) - One need to remove the "managed-schema" file in the

dovecot, fts, solr5 patch, fuzzy search
Hi! I have a patch and several thoughts about FTS in dovecot. I. SOLR v5.1 and above doesn't allow GET /select queries with Content-Type header set, so, I just removed it from the code: --- dovecot-2.2.18/src/plugins/fts-solr/solr-connection.c 2015-05-13 17:14:45.000000000 +0300 +++ dovecot-2.2.18.patch/src/plugins/fts-solr/solr-connection.c 2015-09-27 19:47:40.363843359 +0300 @@ -432,7

SOLR 5
Hello, I just wanted to give SOLR 5 a try, however there probably have changed quite some bits in the config files, did not even manage to create a core with various solrconfig.xml and schema.xml files, but I am absolutely no expert in solr. Has anybody given it a try or are there some tips on how to get it running? regards, Robert

Dovecot and Solr 6
Hi! Dovecot 2.2.24 Had set up solr and new schema collection. Copied dovecot provided schema. There was an error with booleans (while getting schema via http), which I "solved" by removing "add-unknown-fields-to-the-schema" from solrconfig.xml. It is correct way to solve this? Anyway, I run tcpdump to see network activity between dovecot and solr: #tcpdump -i lo port 8983

"Header is huge" in fts-solr
Hi, Timo and all! I am trying to index mail in a test mailbox using fts_solr plugin for full-text search. On most mailboxes, it works fine, but on some big messages I get warnings like the following, and then I get an Out of memory error from Solr, then the indexer-worker process (or doveadm) crashes with "assertion failed" error and the backtrace:
