Build dovecot from source
I am sorry if this is not the correct list for asking this. T try to build dovecot 2.3.20 from source on a QNAP NAS, which is a linux variant. There is an dovecot available, but this does not include a pigeonhole sieve, that?s why I try to build it from source. The configure script works fine, but the make fails as follows: *** Warning: Linking the executable test-http-payload against the

rsync 3.2.7 hangs when --usermap is used and receiver is not a super-user
After upgrading to rsync 3.2.7, the following command hangs forever (using "--usermap" causes the hang; without "--usermap" it doesn't hang): rsync -v -p -e --usermap user:user /etc/services user at remote: It did not hang with rsync 3.2.3. Not sure if it's intended behaviour? The fine manual says that --usermap should be used as a super-user on the receiver, but

Problems getting Diablo2 to run
Hello everyone, I'm trying to run Diablo2 version 1.06 on SuSE Linux 6.4 (kernel 2.4.2) with WINE 20010418. Both the contents of the windoze installation and the game have been copied over the network from another machine where everything works happily. When I run the game nothing really seems to be happening. With tracing enabled I can see that after some initialization the game just spins

Up to date dovecot packages on Ubuntu 22.4LTS
I just found out that Ubuntu Linux 22.04 LTS has a dovecot apt package that is 2.3.16. Debian 11 (stable) is at dovecot 2.3.13 with apt. if I looked correctly. Dovecot itself is at 2.3.20. That surprised me (I am new to the Linux distro and package management world) as Ubuntu 22.04 is a Long-Time Support version, and I was expecting packages to be updated as well (as many users will want updated

How do you scale dovecot for good performance with Roundcube webmailer in front? (hitting limits without exhausting resources)
Good day, I am currently setting up/debugging a webmailer-only setup using Roundcube (latest version) with Dovecot (2.3.20, latest as of now). Generally speaking the setup performs OK, I wrote a JMeter Roundcube script to test the Roundcube. This includes actions like listing mails and fetching them. I am hitting a somehow dubious limit of 600 req/s though. (This includes all kinds of HTTP calls

Here's a recipe for Samba+Active Directory on Solaris 9
Samba 3.0.22 on Solaris 9 with Active Directory =============================================== Dan Shearer Version 1.0 May 2006 Official Samba binaries for Solaris 9 are not enabled for ADS support. Enabling ADS is much harder than it looks, mostly because of the crazy Solaris 9 build environment. Here is the simplest reproducable recipe I could find for ADS-enabled Samba on a default fresh

Problem with Windows 2003 AD and Samba 3.0.21
Hi, We have had Samba version 3.0.21b and c working in Windows 2000 Active Directory environment for a long time until one of the AD servers was upgraded to Windows 2003. If a user is bounded to that Win 2003 AD, the "net view \\sambaserver <file://sambaserver/>" will fail with "System error 64 has occurred." but strangely, if user uses the IP address of sambaserver,

2.4 ballpark release date?
I'm wondering whether there is a ballpark release date for Dovecot 2.4. I know an exact release date is probably not available, but can it at least be narrowed to a specific quarter? Is it likely in 2023? I have seen on previous messages that an Ubuntu repository for 22.04 (jammy) will appear with the 2.4 release. My mail server in AWS is running Ubuntu 20.04 (focal), which I have
