kernel panic caused by zfs/sa.c
Hello, I'm experiencing a kernel panic that appears to be caused by zfs. No errors are making it into /var/log/messages, but here is the error message that appears on my screen after panic (transcribed): panic solaris assert BSWAP_32(sa_hdr_phys->sa_magic) == SA_MAGIC, file: /src/sys/modules/zfs/../../cddl/contrib/opensolaris/uts/common/fs/zfs/sa.c, line 1262 I can reproduce this by

Tracing znode_t from dnode_t
Hi, To get my understanding of zfs data structures correct, I need to trace znode_t from given dnode_t. I came up with following trace, is this correct? dnote_t->dn_bonus->db_user_ptr points to corresponding znode_t Is there any other(better) way to trace znode_t from dnode_t? Cheers, -Atul

Wierd ZFS interaction with sudo?
I''ve just installed express b28 on my system. After installing, I decided to move /opt to a zfs pool home/opt. After installing Blastwave''s latest sudo, I did my usual edits of sudoers. When I attempted to execute sudo ls to test things I got this: rtfm:/opt/csw/etc:>sudo ls sudo: /opt/csw/etc/sudoers is owned by gid 1, should be 0 But /opt/csw/etc/sudoers permissions

zfs znode changes getting lost
In place of padding in zfs znode i added a new field. stored an integer value and am able to see saved information. but after reboot it is not there. If i was able to access before reboot so it must be in memory. I think i need to save it to disk. how does one force zfs znode to disk. right now i dont do anything special for it. Just made an ioctl, accessed znode and made changes. example in

Tester wanted for multipath failover iSCSI target software
Hello, I'm looking for test users for new iSCSI target software designed for multipath failover cluster nodes. I'm very interested in the virtual machine such as Hyper-V. So I'm also tuning the target for using VMs. I need an environmental report in particular other than FreeBSD 7.1 RELEASE p3 i386/PAE kernel w/ZFS. I welcome the report with other initiators below. If you are

ZIL FOID
I need some clarification on the FOID handed to zil_commit. I wrote a dscript to watch entry and return of zil_commit_writer. Here is an example output: <pre> 2009 Jan 23 23:34:36: ZIL Commit : Seq 183211310 : FOID 129644 Completed in 0 ms 2009 Jan 23 23:34:36: ZIL Commit : Seq 183211324 : FOID 129644 Completed in 0 ms 2009 Jan 23 23:34:36: ZIL Commit : Seq 183211386

Looking for confirmation.
Hi. I''ve almost all file system functions working. I started to run some heavy file system regression tests. They work. fsx wasn''t able to break my port, but the test you can find here: http://people.freebsd.org/~kan/fsstress.tar.gz broke it. My kernel panics on this assertion (zfs_dir.c): 749: mutex_exit(&dzp->z_lock); 750: 751: error =

Round four: Re: code review req: 6750659 drti.o crashes app due to corrupt environment
I believe that I have incorporated all of the feedback given (thanks!). Changes since the 2008-11-16 version include: - ksh style & coding standards compliance in test script (Roland) - "dof_init_debug == B_FALSE" vs. "!dof_init_debug" (Adam) The updated webrev is at: http://cr.opensolaris.org/~mgerdts/6750659-2008-12-03/ -- Mike Gerdts http://mgerdts.blogspot.com/

storing output data from a loop that has varying row numbers
Hi All, I am trying to run a loop that will have varying numbers of rows with each output. Previously I have had the same number of rows so I would use (and I appreciate that this will no doubt achieve some gasps as being thoroughly inefficient!): xdfrow<-(0) xdfrow1<-(1:32) xdfrow2<-(33:64) xdfrow3<-(65:96) xdfrow4<-(97:128) xdfrow5<-(129:160) xdfrow6<-(161:192)

IDMAP cache creating tons of mulex spins
Good morning, We have been noticing troubles browsing on a ZFS share, especially in the afternoon, and found our 8 cores going at 100% with over 100000 smtx running on each core on mpstat. We are running Solaris 5.11 with Samba 3.5.10, 48 GB of RAM and two 4 core Xeons. The fileserver is attached by domain mode to Windows 2003 R2 SP2 with Services for Unix installed and we only have around 80

HELP! zpool corrupted data
Hello, Due to a power outage our file server running FreeBSD 8.0p2 will no longer come up due to zpool corruption. I get the following output when trying to import the ZFS pool using either a FreeBSD 8.0p2 cd or the latest OpenSolaris snv_143 cd: FreeBSD mfsbsd 8.0-RELEASE-p2.vx.sk:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 mfsbsd# zpool import pool: tank id: 1998957762692994918 state: FAULTED

zpool fails with panic in zio_ddt_free()
Hello all, I am not sure my original mail got through to the list (I haven''t received it back), so I attach it below. Anyhow, now I have a saved kernel crash dump of the system panicking when it tries to - I believe - deferred-release the corrupted deduped blocks which are no longer referenced by the userdata/blockpointer tree. As I previously wrote in my thread on unfixeable

ZFS vs. Apple XRaid
Hello all, After setting up a Solaris 10 machine with ZFS as the new NFS server, I''m stumped by some serious performance problems. Here are the (admittedly long) details (also noted at http://www.netmeister.org/blog/): The machine in question is a dual-amd64 box with 2GB RAM and two broadcom gigabit NICs. The OS is Solaris 10 6/06 and the filesystem consists of a single zpool stripe

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
