Missing features in RSAT Group Policy Manager (Debian as Samba PDC)
I have been testing a Debian 11 (i386) server with samba 2:4.13.13+dfsg-1~deb11u5 running as an Active Directory Controller. This is a stand-alone DC, meant for user authentication for a small business network. I use RSAT Features on Windows 11 Pro to manage Users, Groups, Machines etc., which works fine. I would like create a new GPO using the RSAT Group Policy Manager to change Security

Question about silos and Authentication policies
Do you know wich of the RSAT I need to use to manage auth-policies and silos. With samba-tool I can't assign users and hosts to the policies. I can only create, delete, list and view policies and silos Am 19.10.23 um 09:03 schrieb Daniel M?ller via samba: > Hello, > > You cannot use Active Directory Administrativ Center because samba has no ADWS implented. > There where

Question about silos and Authentication policies
I looked around a little bit, but as far as I can see, at the moment it's not possible to use auth-policies and silos with Samba-DCs only. So I need at least one Windows DC :-( Am 19.10.23 um 11:48 schrieb Stefan Kania via samba: > Do you know wich of the RSAT I need to use to manage auth-policies and > silos. Question about silos and Authentication policies
Hello, You cannot use Active Directory Administrativ Center because samba has no ADWS implented. There where efforts and but ADWS did no reach production status. I think Catalyst, Andrew Bartlett tried someting, did not finish it. Yes you need to use the old RSAT. James, I configured the account lockout policies by RSAT, GPEDIT.MSC. By GPEDIT.MSC I set the value = 10 attempts. Through the samba-tool, I used this command: # samba-tool domain passwordsettings set --account-lockout-threshold=11 INFO: Current debug levels: ... pm_process() returned Yes Module 'tombstone_reanimate' is disabled. I am fairly sure Samba will ignore GP password policies, but if you set the policies with the samba tool command, then it should adhere to it, unless you are running across the bug I mentioned. You would see multiple badPwdCount increases for one bad password in the logs if you are experiencing that bug. -James Crouch On Aug 19, 2016 2:26 PM, "Ricardo Pardim Claus" <ricardo.claus at

Unable to create GPO "Allow log on locally"
Well, I've set up a completely new test AD Domain with Samba 4.4.5 and one Windows 10 Client running RSAT tools in an isolated VM net. Creating a new empty GPO using RSAT tools Computer Configuration-> Policies-> Windows Settings-> Security Settings-> Local Policies-> User Rights Assignment-> Allow Logon Locally" does not work.

Default Group Policies and Default Domain Controller Policy are empty
Dear List, again a problem I'm not able to solve. I've been trying to add a test user. Since it is a testuser I'm going to delete quite soon, I've wanted to use a simple password without any complexity. Not knowing it better, I wanted to change the default group policy object of my domain using rsat. First thing I've noticed, that it was completely empty. Not a singe rule or
