(no subject)
Hello all, I have a very large file (280k lines) containing three comma separated variables. The first variable is a 0 or 1 depicting a pass or fail. The other two are X and Y coordinates. Is there a good way I can represent this data in a chart/plot form other than using a 3d histogram? If I need to use the histogram, should I base my chart off the example contained in the RGL package? Thanks a

ADS Join on Windows 2008 domain not working in 3.0.25b?
Hi, Using samba 3.0.25b, testing to join to a Windows 2008 domain using ADS security with kerberos and it doesn't seem to work. Anybody else tried this combination? Same configuration worked joining to a Windows 2003 R2 domain. I'm not a samba expert but looking at the log it looks like the not_defined_in_RFC4178@please_ignore have something to do with it? VPN Single Daemon For LAN/WAN
Gus: I guess my primary point of confusion is that the non-vpn LAN ip addresses are duplicated in each cluster. So within a cluster, the LAN addresses are unique. But when you look at 2 clusters, 2 different servers share the 10.99.0.11 address. So that is why I created a VPN for inside the cluster on the LAN interfaces using the private 10.0.1.xx range. THen, I created a separate VPN on the

Is anyone using Isilon OneFS in combination with Samba with AD authentication ?
Hi, We are in the process of testing a migration of our current setup which contains Samba 4 as Classic DC with LDAP backend, Isilon OneFS bulk storage serving NFS/SMB shares and Windows/Mac/Linux clients to a more modern Samba 4 AD. We need to migrate to Samba AD because of Windows 10 and macos 10.13.x (and for several other reasons). But we run into an issue with authenticating the clients

[sorta offtopic] Removing bad bytes from filenames
I'm moving my Ogg Vorbis collection off of my Linux server and onto my laptop. I plan on using iTunes to play my collection, but, that's a whole 'nother can of worms. I'm having trouble moving my complete collection over because dbPowerAmp (an application I used to love) made some dumb decisions about naming my files. For example, in track/album/artist names that contained a

Difference between 1.4.x and 1.6.x?
Forgive me if this is a FAQ question but I didnt see anything on the website of forum spelling out the difference between 1.4.x and 1.6.x Obviously 1.6.x is in development. Is it stable enough for production use? What are the new features being implemented in 1.6.x? Will Cepstral work with 1.6.x? Another sharing tehnique, is this possible ?
hi, (assume HTB) I was thinking will it be possible to do some sort of UNFAIR-SHARING :"), what I have in mind : Say I have a internet link with 100kbits bandwith, then I want to share it between many clients (which will increase over time). Let''s i start with 5 clients with rate = 30kbits... See the total bandwith of users is 120kbits but I have only 100kbits.... So where is the

Usiing SID's in Linux? Is it possible?
I would like to be able to use SID's in linux so as to have ACL's identical to windows. Example usage why: Say I have an ntfs partitioned disk that I share with a co-worker that uses windows. Currently I am connected to the domain using rfc2307 and that allows me to authenticate using AD and on the nfs through the Isilon the windows users see files correctly permissioned but when I share

Samba AD and adding a Windows 2008R2 DC
Hi, we now have an old Windows NT4.0 domain served by Samba 4.2.x (using Samba and LDAP) and want to move to Windows AD. The reason we need to do that is because of the clients (Windows 10 and MacOS) and because of a third party device which does not want to talk to Samba AD (Isilon OneFS). I did a 'classicupgrade' to Samba AD from our Samba/LDAP config and then I use this guide :

Samba locking with NFS backend.
Hello, I'm in a bit of a loss at the moment. We have the following situation, we are running Samba for a lot of small companies that need fileservices for there Windows Terminal Servers that they use through a thin client on a Fiber / Lan extention to our datacentre. We have this samba running on 2 linux hosts (Fedora Core 5 and Fedora 7) with a ldap backend for all the domains. This works

nfsvers and nfs-utils-1.3.0-0.48.el7
We encountered a weird problem today, and I thought some of you might like to hear the solution. The underlying change was listed in the 7.4 changelog, so it's not a bug, but it may drive you buggy. The majority of our HPC cluster nodes run CentOS 7, though the exact patch levels vary from node to node. None is older than 7.3, but a few newer nodes were kickstarted right to 7.4. The

[somewhat OT] Apache config for Rails + ColdFusion + PHP
Our group has several web apps developed in ColdFusion, PHP, and Rails. The ColdFusion and PHP apps are on an older server, and the Rails apps on a new server. Ideally, we''d like them all to share the same server. Our current setup for the Rails server is Apache2.2 with mod_proxy_balancer and mongrel_cluster. We''d like to have specific directories be processed and served by

Problem with too many small files
I am not sure how it works on Gluster but to mitigate the problem with listing a lot of small files wouldn't it be suitable to keep on every node a copy of the directory tree. I think Isilon does that and there is probably a lot to be learned from them which seems quiet mature technology. Could also have another interesting thing added in the future, local SSD to keep the file system metadata

"mount error(112): Host is down" on Ubuntu 17.10
Hello, I am a long time Samba user but new to this list. Now I need some help on a CIFS mount issue I just encountered.
