Essentially you can almost always ignore this error message as being mostly harmless. With regards, Daniel --

virtio-mem with virt-install to share memory between guest and host on-demand
Hi I'm trying to Passthrough a GPU to a VM and have it still share its free memory with the host (just like it would with virtio-balloon). Is this something virtio-mem is capable of? I've tried to run it, but it immediately took over 9GB of memory: virt-install --name test --cpu cell0.cpus=0,cell0.memory=4194304,cell1.cpus=1,cell1.memory=4194304 --memory

[PATCH libnbd v3] lib/errors.c: Fix assert fail in exit path in multi-threaded code
When a highly multi-threaded program such as nbdcopy encounters an error, there is a race condition in the library which can cause an assertion failure and thus a core dump: (1) An error occurs on one of the threads. nbdcopy calls exit(3). (2) In lib/errors.c, the destructor calls pthread_key_delete. (3) Another thread which is still running also encounters an error, and inside libnbd the

certificate pinning
Hello! Does libvirt uses certificate pinning in tls? I want to setup a transparent proxy (mitmproxy) and can't do this even after I added mitmproxy ca certificate to the trusted certificates in ubuntu.

[PATCH nbdkit] python: Drop support for Python 2.
This patch proposes to drop support for Python 2 in nbdkit. Rather than abruptly drop it everywhere, my proposal is that we point people to nbdkit 1.14 (the current stable version) if they want to continue with Python 2 plugins, while gently reminding them of the upcoming Python 2.7 end of life announcement. Libnbd never supported Python 2. Libguestfs in theory supports Python 2 but I dropped

Yeah, AppArmor is enabled, but I put everything (that I could find) into complain mode: $ sudo apparmor_status apparmor module is loaded. 12 profiles are loaded. 3 profiles are in enforce mode. lxc-container-default lxc-container-default-with-mounting lxc-container-default-with-nesting 9 profiles are in complain mode. /sbin/dhclient /usr/bin/lxc-start

[libvirt-1.3.2]'Disconnected from qemu:///session due to I/O error'
Hi. Since the update to libvirt-1.3.2, virsh keeps disconnecting from qemu:///session. Weirdly enough, qemu:///session works fine for root, and qemu:///system works for both the user and the root. With the same configuration(tarball with files from /etc/libvirt attached), libvirt-1.3.1 works without problems. From the virsh debug log(attached): --- grep error virsh.log.1.3.2 2016-03-03

Re: Libvirt access control drivers
Ok, excuse me for misunderstanding, how it is possible then to set up access control when I use remote connection to KVM ( not in UNIX domain)? Is there any way within libvirt, maybe based on authentication or certificates? 2018-05-09 11:14 GMT+03:00 Daniel P. Possible to edit/apply nwfilter at runtime?
I'm trying to determine if it's possible to edit/attach/apply nwfilter rules at runtime? I.e., after a VM is already running, can I apply a nwfilter to the VM and have it work without rebooting the machine? Thus far, I've not come across a way to do so, but I thought I'd ask here before I chase my tail around Google. Thanks! -- Andre Goree -=-=-=-=-=- Email - andre at

Re: Libvirt access control drivers
Here https://libvirt.org/acl.html is stated that you designed this access control system as pluggable. Are there any options ( even with modifying libvirt code) to plug in any custom driver? I just need to take a try and design something that will support remote access control. I am not sure if sVirt is the right thing I should look at. 2018-05-09 11:27 GMT+03:00 Daniel P. Berrangé
