WxRuby newbie Mac OS 10.4 install questions
Hi. Forgive me if I am asking questions that have already been
answered a million times,
but there doesn''t seem to be an easy way to search the wxruby-users
archives, so...
I tried to install wxruby for the Mac
by downloading the latest Mac package installer from
rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/1985/wxruby-0.6.0-osx-panther.dmg

Problems installing wxRuby on Mac OS X 10.3.9
I tried to install wxRuby on my Mac, but I get the following error.

New inheritance
A good number of the samples I have tested are outright or subtly broken
on Windows now. I''m trying to determine what the cause is. Mostly it
seems related to the initialize function not being created when it
should be.

i tried to compile wxRuby, but there are always errors around "id" ,

DOS box popping up under rubyscript2exe
Hello
My email has been broken for a week and some of it seems to have gone
astray - so if there are other unanswered wxruby queries kicking about,

I have encountered this problem with a DOS box popping up under rubyw /
rubyscript2exe; I don''t think it''s related to wxruby. I found them

Problem detecting keypresses in FXTable
I''m using an RXTable in my application and I would like to be able to
select a row and then press the Delete key to delete the selected row.
This does not seem to work, however, as apparently keypresses are not
initially recognized. In my FXTable derived class I have:

ShapedWindow.rbw
These patches implement wxRegion and the ShapedWindow sample. I stole
the ruby image from ruby-lang.org. Shamelessly. Maybe someone has a
better image we can use for the shaped window. It didn''t seem to make
sense to use the Python image. I''d like something even bigger than what
I stol^h^h^h^hmade, preferably. Image goes in icons.

Building wxruby-swig for Mac
0.0.5 sure gets the Mac build a lot further.
There''s a bug in the wxMac-2.4.2 distribution that I''m running into:
wx-config wants to invoke a program in the source directory at link
time. That''s ugly in itself, but it tries to use a variable
${top_srcdir} to accomplish this, and it''s apparently empty. It tries

MediaCtrl with no parent?
Hiyas, I''m trying to make a mediactrl with no parent or with my
application as the parent, so it can play music in the background (I''m
making a simple alarm app), but I cant seem to get it workin. Any ideas
or does it need to have a frame as a parent?

I spent a good few hours this morning trying to make this work and
came up with the following patch. It's not quite right though.
The exception I've created exists in the libnbdmod module (ie. the
underlying C module that we use for the Python bindings). Ideally
we'd define and throw an exception from the normal nbd module, but I
couldn't work out how to do that.

[PATCH libnbd v2] python: Raise a custom exception containing error string and errno.
This kind of fixes the problems in v1. The exception still primarily
lives in the libnbdmod and you could still refer to it using
libnbdmod.Error (but don't do that). However when the exception is
printed it now appears as nbd.Error, and you can catch it also using
the same name.
Other problems:
- There is no "nice" interface to accessing the exception fields.

Minor update to wxRuby 0.2.1 for Mac
I just uploaded a slightly revised version of the Mac wxRuby 0.2.1,
named 0.2.1b. which is "slightly" smaller than the first copy. It''s
about 88% smaller, but has the same contents, so it seemed worth updating.
Thanks to Nick for figuring out the setting to shrink it, and for
building a new version for us. The statistics no longer show how many
people downloaded the

Is wxRuby-SWIG version usable enough to package for download?
If wxRuby-SWIG is as usable as wxRuby 0.6.0, maybe it should be given a
version number and packaged up for download.
Given the nature of SWIG, having a lot more people use it would probably
result in more code contributions to this project.
Seems most of the changes are 2+ months old, so I''m guessing wxRuby-SWIG
is fairly stable right now in terms of frequency of changes...

[PATCH libnbd v3] python: Raise a custom exception containing error string and errno.
Following Eric's suggestions from v2, this adds .string, .errno and
.__str__ properties. The .string property returns the error string.
The .errno property returns the errno (from the errno module), or
None. The __str__ property makes the exception nicely printable.
