default backend = rid not showing full group information for users
Hello everybody,
I am trying to use the backend = rid but it is not showing me group
information of the users after adding the user to the domain groups...
What should I do to have the full group info for the users available?

There is no apparent reason why the groups do not work with chgrp, the
only reason I can think of is that the group was created and when you
tried to 'chgrp' the file, winbind read from its cache and it wasn't in
the cache. Try running 'net cache flush' and then try

Am I wrong to expect that id user and getent group should list me the
groups the user is part of.
For example wbinfo --group-info=office shows me that user jdoe and lgaga
are part of the group, but then when doing id jdoe or id lgaga the
office group is not shown, neither in getent group.
What should I change in my config to have full group information working?

idmap backend ad well-known-sids 512 & 513
Hi,
we are in the process of testing a migration from our NT Classic Domain
with OpenLdap to Samba AD.
In our test setup migration of all accounts, groups and computer
accounts went well using the classicupgrade path.
Next step now is testing how to add a member server for file server
services.
We were able to get the server to join the domain and also idmapping
works mostly as expected.

question about winbind rid idmaping
Hello,
I have just realized that winbind rid idmapping create the following
idmapping for user, below an example:
# id HYPERFILE\\simone
*uid=11663*(HYPERFILE\simone) gid=10513(HYPERFILE\domain users)
groups=10513(HYPERFILE\domain
users),*11663*(HYPERFILE\simone),3011(BUILTIN\users)
I'm confused about group mapping 11663(HYPERFILE\simone), winbind
created a mapping for a group that has

Share authentication problem
Hi @ll !
I am trying to set up a samba fileserver in SuSe 42.3 as domain member
in a debian based Samba4 AD. The join seems to be ok, as I can get
/wbinfo -u/ and /-g/, and /getent group/ and /passwd/.
I can also list all browsable shares with /smbclient -L \\SambaFS
-Uusername/, but when i add -k, I get following errors :
/SPNEGO(gse_krb5) creating NEG_TOKEN_INIT for cifs/Samba1 failed

samba idmap mystery
Hi:
I have a samba dc and a samba member file server.
I use rfc2307 id mapping and posix acl share for windows/linux
client for many years. they are simple and work fine. however in older
versions of samba (maybe 5 years ago). sometimes after I create a user
account at samba dc, the member file server can not recognize it (eg:
"getent passwd xxxx" or "id xxxx" return

If you do not want to add anything to AD, then you use the 'rid'

map gidNumber
hello,
is there a way to map usergroups via winbind?
I need 'getent passwd':
testuser:x:7072:513::/home/users/testuser:/bin/bash
but I get:
testuser:x:7072:30000::/home/users/testuser:/bin/bash
gidNumber is set to 513 in samba-ldap.
cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
passwd: compat winbind
group: compat winbind
cat /etc/samba/smb.conf

OK, the only computer I have that runs systemd, is my Rpi4 running
Raspbian, which is basically Buster compiled for ARM.
I have in /etc/nsswitch.conf:

Which Debian version do you use? Because in either version (0 oer 10) in
nsswitch.conf is wirtten "files winbind" in Debian 9 it's "compat
winbind" and in 10 it's "files systemd winbind" so you removed (I think)
systemd maybe you should put it back in
