[EXTERNAL] Could not access a share as a guest
Hi Ashok, That solved this issue and moved ahead of that IPC$ share access issue. Thanks for that. Now, I am seeing the below error. Please note I am new to samba world. Pardon me if I am asking for more. Meanwhile I too will check smb.conf online doc and my smb.conf for any conflicting configurations. Windows Clients are given access to parent directories of the path configured as a Share path
Hi Group, Mentioned below is the share configuration added to smb.conf. Windows clients are given access to all directories along the path "/containers/rda-nas/BackupRoot/Cores/XXX" from "/" instead of directory XXX alone as the share's root directory. In NFS if we export a path, clients will never be known of parent directories along the export path. Why in samba,

[EXTERNAL] Could not access a share as a guest
Appreciate your help. Yes that is true. Those files are created by some other Application(which are shared through samba). Ran wireshark, captured the packets and filtered for SMB2. Attached SMB2 filtered packets in a plain text format. I don't know what is happening from the packet tracing. SMB did create request, create response and immediately close request & close response.

Latest samaba updates
When I let yum install the latest samba updates, it ate my smb users file and smb.conf. Once I restored those, it gave me several selinux avc denials, one of which I can't clear up. See http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2965 for details. Anyone else having problems like this? Dave

Redhat 8.0 and Samaba 2.2.5
First, let me apologize if this is a simple question, I am trying to get away from Microsoft and learn Linux. In the past, on my Linux test server I have installed samba 2.2.3a and a seperate install of winbind for that same version. I followed the directions I've seen posted and it all works well. I tried to upgrade to 2.2.5 but winbind wouldnt work. So I went back down to 2.2.3a This was

Combining NFS and Samaba - file locking
I have a network where we have a main site with a PDC, and two remote sites with BDCs. The backend is LDAP which is slaved to the remote sites, Samba is 2.2.8a, the main server is part of the Suse Linux OpeneXchange Server, the other two servers are Suse Standard Server 8. What I wanted to do was to have users at the various sites map one drive from their 'local' server. Behind the

Authentication delays in Samaba 3.0.10
Hello, We have recently upgraded to samba 3.0.10 (RedHat 7.3) and are now having authentication delays with some of our shares. We are using unencrypted passwords so we can use the pam system-auth...we have the plaintext registry patch on all windows machines that are connecting. The problem is that if you manually connect or browse to a share from a windows box (2k or XP), the client sends your

Can't get password policies (bad lockout attempt) to work on Samaba 3 + OpenLDAP
Hi, I have a Debian stable (woody aka 3.0) machine. I am moving my existing samba 2.x installation (that has users stored in smbpasswd) to samba 3.0.4 with LDAP as the backend. I am able to move the users to LDAP just fine. However, the password policy of bad lockout attempt does not seem to work. I installed the samba deb file from the samab.org site. I also have OpenLDAP slapd

Samaba 2.2.7 and windows printer driver woes
Greetings, all, I have a fresh install of Samba 2.2.7 on a Solaris 9 machine. Stand alone, not part of a domain. Testing with a stand alone Windows 2000 professional client with service pack 3 installed. I am having problems setting defaults for the installed printer drivers and I have been unable to load Win98 drivers to go along with the W2k drivers. Printers being tested are an HP LJ

debuginfo and debuginfo-common for PAE with systemtap
I want to use systemtap on a 5.3 system but cannot find supporting kernel-PAE-debuginfo or kernel-debuginfo-common packages. Am I being a noob, or do these not exist for the PAE kernel? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Where's the debuginfo?
Hello all, According to [CentOS-announce] Release for CentOS Linux 7 (1503 ) on x86_64: "Debuginfo packages are also being signed and pushed. Yum configs shipped in the new release file will have all the context required for debuginfo to be available on every CentOS Linux install." Specifically, I'm looking for kernel-debuginfo-3.10.0-229.1.2.el7.x86_64, but the latest debuginfo

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Moving DebugInfo module to VMCore
Hi all, This patch, though large, simply moves lib/Analysis/DebugInfo.cpp to lib/VMCore/DebugInfo.cpp and include/llvm/Analysis/DebugInfo.h to include/llvm/DebugInfo.h. Why? Because this module has nothing to do with analysis. It simply defines an interface to the debug info MDNodes. In fact, the lib/VMCore/AsmWriter.cpp file performs a layering violation, because it calculates the DWARF tag

DebugInfo repo broken on purpose
This line in /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Debuginfo.repo baseurl=http://debuginfo.centos.org/$releasever/$basearch/ ?causes commands like ?yum search --enablerepo=* foo? to fail with the obscure error Error: Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'base-debuginfo' Apparently this is because the debug info RPMs aren?t hosted there any more, per the page at the top of the site.

no kernel-debuginfo or source RPM for kernel 3.18.21-17
I'm trying to debug what I believe to be a kernel bug (https://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-devel/2016-March/014463.html) and I'm trying to set up systemtap for that. I'm trying to set up systemtap on kernel 3.18.21-17.el6.x86_64 (Xen 4.4.3-10.el6) and it requires the kernel-debuginfo package, however I cannot find anywhere package kernel-debuginfo-3.18.21-17.el6.x86_64.rpm.
