Domain problem with NT4 & Samba 3.0.2a
All,
I really need some help. I'm putting samba up on a new windows domain
called SIERRA. I'm using Samba 3.0.2a on Solaris 8. I'm barely
knowledgeable on Windows NetBIOS... but am good with Solaris. The
status is that I've got the daemons running and working normally. I
have 1 desktop with 1 PDC & 1 BDC in the SIERRA domain. On the desktop,
I can see both DC's but

openssh build failure on High Sierra (10.13.2)
Back in January/March of 2017, it was the case that building openssh
with the latest openssl on MacOS 10.12.x (Sierra) was a bit of
a bother.
I could build everything with Xcode, but the resulting sshd segfaulted
upon invocation (see the archives). So I built gcc 6.3 and used that
to build openssh 7.x on Sierra. As long as machines stayed on 10.12.x,
all was fine.
Under High Sierra, the Xcode

Logging into a remote domain???
Hi -
I'll be the first to say I don't completely understand Windows
networking, but I did get the following to work when everybody
(clients-w95/server-solaris) were on the same subnet.
W95 boots up and prompts for username, password, and domain. I log in, and
presto I'm connected and netlogon scripts run and everything is great.
This is when I'm testing it on a completely

File system issue since upgrading macOS to High Sierra
Hi,
Since upgrading macOS High Sierra, R will stop responding, requiring me to
force R to quit, when I am trying to open a script using File -> Open
Document.
I don't have any problems opening files by double-clicking them in Finder.
Sometimes R gives me the message in the attached screenshot:
Any suggestions?

Random behavior of mclapply
Hi,
I wondered about the behavior described in the following stackoverflow
question:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20674538/mclapply-returns-null-randomly
More specifically, I would like to know if you ever considered the
suggestion made in the comments of the first answer, namely to somehow warn
the user if one of the processes has been killed by the out-of-memory
killer ?

sshd 7.8p1 close connection from VMware Fusion NAT Port Forwarding
After upgrading my VMware Fusion (10.1.3) Arch Guest to the latest with
OpenSSH upgraded from 7.7p1 to 7.8p1, found that ssh from macOS Sierra
(10.12.6) host to Arch guest via local NAT port forwarding failed, but via
Arch LAN IP worked, downgraded OpenSSH from 7.8p1 to 7.7p1 fixed the
problem.
Any idea about this bug?

Thanks, tried both, but unsuccessfully. Again, is there any debug
setting that allows me to see what SSL version was requested? Without
this, this is fumbling in the dark.
Cheers,
Johannes

Missing information in source()
Dear R-help,
I am running a Mac under Sierra, with R version 3.4.2 and RStudio 1.1.383. When running head () or tail () on an object in a script using source (<script name>) nothing appears in the output file, but if I use these commands in the normal R window the normal output appears.
What am I doing wrong?

Sip Node w/ 4 wire audio & AT command set call supervision
I have several discontinued Sierra Wireless MP775 mobile GSM/EDGE radio

provide data and voice access along with GPS reporting. They have external

I installed the new version of samba on my Redhat 9.0 server. I have samba running on another Redhat 9.0 server and the version of samba on that box is 3.0.21c-1 and this server has successfully joined a W2K Domain. I am trying to migrate the data from the host that works to the new host.
Here are the steps that I have taken to try and join to the domain.

Samba on A SGI Indy Cyclone IRIX system???
Hi there:
We have recently inherited a circa 1996 SGI Indy Colorbus Cyclone running on
Irix.
Our intention is to use this unit to drive our Canon CLC900 Scanner Copier
and make it accessible to our Windows Network.
At the moment, our Windows Network does not "see" the Cyclone & vice versa.
I have read that installing some kind of Windows Samba client onto our

NT User can't access share
Folks,
A remote admin is trying to add a contractor account to our NT
domain with limited rights. Unfortunately, everytime the contractor
account is removed from the DomainUsers group, the contractor
encounters the following:
\\nt-nfs-md\IPC$
and the infamous invalid password. Once the user is re-added to the
DomainUsers group, they can access the share fine.
My question is what permissions

Distinctive ringing on Cisco 79xx
Greetings, I am trying to implement distinctive ringing on a Cisco 7960.
I have tried setting alert_info to chirp1 or chirp2 before dialing the
phone, but it has no affect. If you have successfully implemented
distinctive ringing on a 7960, I would really appreciate seeing the snipit
of code that works.
Thanks in advance
