Anti-virus for use in para-virtualized Xen
I''ve been looking at anti-virus software for Xen use on Linux systems, on both Dom0 and DomU, in industrial environments. Reviewing documentation on various packages seems to show that all the commercial ones insist on sticking kernel modules into a limited set of standard known kernels. This of course creates some serious risks until the anti-virus packages are developed in and

Cannot find DVD/CD drive...
The transition from Windows to Linux has been more or less painless for me, except for one thing; a game called Space Colony. The WineDB lists it as Platiunum, Cedega lists it as something that can work, I had high hopes to get it working on at least one of these systems. After I installed the program through WINE, it popped up the autorun menu and I clicked 'play' where I then got the

How to Connect a new CD via virt-manager
Hi, I have virt-manager 0.9 connecting to a libvirtd 0.9.3 on Debian unstable. Hypervisor being used is KVM. In a VM, I can select the "IDE CDROM 1" and click on "disonnect" which makes the virtual disk disappear from the virtual drive and the former disconnect button now reads "connect". Hence, when I click there, nothing happens. Currently, the only way I am

Creating KVM-based VM with virt-manager and virt-install on C7
Hi folks, for learning purposes I create KVM-based VM with the virt-manager. Later I get rid of the VM and repeat the "process" again. When recreating the VM I always enter the same values into the wizard in virt-manager (i.e. I want to speicfy a given MAC). I'd like to "automate" this procedure, all of what I do in virt-manager for creating the new VM, I' d like

Problem using virt-manager to create a VM remotely
Well, not that remote. I'm trying to get it working from my laptop to an ancient workstation behind me I use for testing. I appear to get the connection okay. virt-manager --connect qemu+ssh://root@<host_ip>/system I can click on the entry on the panel that comes up and see facts about the remote machine. I then tried the "Create a new virtual machine" item on the tool

Can't figure out how to restart VM after making config changes in virt-manager
I finally figured out my VNC configuration, so I can now run virt-manager to inspect and manipulate my VM. I initially created the VM with "virt-install", but I haven't been able to see the console or do anything with it. When I ran virt-manager, I tried to configure the vcpus (1->4) and change the boot order (cdrom, then disk, as I created the VM with an ISO). When I made

DVD install via NFS asks for CD #1 ISO
Hi all, I'm installing Centos 5.0 (fresh install) x86_64 via NFS. I've downloaded just the DVD iso via bittorrent, but when it starts the graphical installation phase an error message appears telling me that anaconda can't find the CD iso in the remote server. Seems that's looking for Centos-5.0-x86_64-bin-1of7.iso, I'm downloading it right now to go ahead but... I think

Hello, ? in the release announcement for centos 6.4 on march 9th, the 6.4-live cd/dvd was supposed to be released a few days after the centos 6.4 release. I'd like to test centos 6.4 on several machines (x86_64) without foregoing installation. Thank you in
