Problem with CentOS 5.1 / Xen / Migration : domU time
Hi all,
I'm having issue with my Centos 5.1 /Xen installation.
I'm having 2 dom0 running 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5xen (x86_64).
These two dom0 are connected to a SAN.
These two dom0 hosts multiple domU like Centos 4.5 (2.6.9-55.0.9.ELxenU)
and Centos 5.1 (2.6.18-53.1.4.el5xen).
These two dom0 run ntpd to synchronize dom0 time.
When i start a virtual machine on the first dom0 all seems good, the

Very high cpu waiting on xen domU
Hi,
I have some xen domU on Centos 5.2 server.
For some weeks i had a problem with "xen domU" performances.
Indeed my xen domU spend a lot of time in cpu waiting.
Reading some informations on the net it seems to come ith I/O heavy load.
Using collectd in my domU to monitor the "traffic" on virtual disk and
virtuel network i don't see heavy I/O rates.
Thinking my dom0

hosting multiple apps
I am considering creating a web interface for system administration, but it
would need a plug-in architecture, adding new UIs as new services are added.
I''m thinking about doing this with multiple Rails applications, and I''m
curious as to whether mongrel can most multiple apps in a single instance, as
opposed to running one for each. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Mike

routing in tunnel mode
Hello,
Looking here
http://www.ipsec-howto.org/x299.html
I''ve set up a vpn in transport mode with two linux boxes. I''m now trying to
set it up in tunnel mode. After using the example keys, trying to ping, it
doesn''t work because the route network isn''t routable.
This mention is in the howto
"If you tunnel is not working, please check your routing.

mongrel becoming unresponsive
Hello,
I''m running mongrel behind apache via proxypass. Every now and then, a spammer
tries to proxy traffic through apache, and for some reason, apache forwards
the request to mongrel, even though it''s not a site being hosted by me.
At times this seems to cause mongrel to become unresponsive, and all requests
to the site then fail with a proxy error until mongrel is

logging to stdout
Hey,
I''m using mongrel supervised via runit. I''d like to capture mongrel logs with
svlogd, which just requires logging to stdout/stderr. But, the Rails app is
logging in its own log directory.
Is there a way to make both mongrel and Rails log to stdout/stderr?
Thanks,
Mike

problems with tc
People,
I''m trying to set up the tc filters for a PRIO queue. I''m basing it off
of marked traffic via iptables. For example, I''ve marked two classes of
traffic with ids "2" and "4", and now I''m filtering those to bands 1 and
2.

File exists?
Hello,
I''m trying to put 3 nodes in a vpn in tunnel mode.
When I run setkey on the following file, I end up with
The result of line 33: File exists.
That error isn''t overly helpful, so I was hoping that someone could explain
the issue.
Here''s the file, with line 33 highlighted.
Help appreciated.

comparison... why mongrel?
Hi,
I''ve recently deployed a rails app and our platform is Apache 2.2 + mongrel
cluster. It seems to be working fine... although no real tests yet. I just
recently found out that it is *quite* possible that the live server will not
be getting an update to apache 2.2, and the current version is 1.3. So...
I''ve installed Apache 1.3 + FastCGI on the dev server and it''s

Samba and system 390 Unix system services
I am new to working with samba. We have used samba for years connecting
our windows systems to Unix systems services on OS390. Starting in and
around November 2002 we can no longer connect. I have gone through the
troubleshooting techniques. Our Samba system is up running, the mount
points are correct and the config file tested out correctly. If any one is
doing this could you please forward

thank you
I recently got into using RoR, and the only issue that concerned me was the
apparently complexity of deployment. Setting up fastcgi can be a bit of a
pain, and I was hoping that the Rails community would come up with something
simpler.
Mongrel was recommended to me from someone on my local Ruby user group. It was
trivial to install as a Gem on my Linux desktop and the FreeBSD server that I

intraclass correlation
Hi,
Can R calculate an intraclass correlation coefficient for clustered data,
when the outcome variable is dichotomous?
By now I calculate it by hand, estimating between- and intracluster variance
by one-way ANOVA - however I don't feel very comfortable about this, since
the distributional assumptions are not really met....
Maybe anyone can help me?
Best regards and many many thanks,

smartd and 3ware on centos5
Hi,
I've CentOS5 box with 3ware RAID controller in it. I can't get the
tw_cli command line tool to work, and smartd also barks on me. The
tw_cli simply doesn't see the controller, no errors logged anywhere.
When starting smartd, it is much more verbose. I'm getting a bunch of
messages like this:

Lots of Centos 5.2 updates already
I just completed my first 5.2 install. For 'completeness' I 'tested
out' yum update.
Guess what? For this minimum install, there were 43Mb of updates to
download.
So I went over to my local repo server and setup a /centos/5.2/updates
directory and started the rsync to get all the updates:
155 files taking up 943Mb. Already. Wow! Perhaps something to do with

heteroscedasticity analysis
Hello,
First, sorry for my poor english, I will try to be understood.
It's the first time I try this "r-help mailing list" and I hope it will be
a success.
I am working on heteroscedasticity analysis. I would like to get the
"Box-Ljung" and the "Lagrange multipliers" test.
I found the first one in the library "ts", but I can't find the second one.

extract numerical variables from a data frame
Hi
I try to create from a data frame a new one which contains only the
numerical variables (or factorial ones).
Is there any function which does this task directly ?
Or, is there any function which return the mode of each columns of a data
frame. ?
Thanks a lot for any help you can offer me,
