BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#?
Hello All. I've just started looking into Xen and have a test environment in place. I'm seeing an annoying problem that I thought worthy of a post. Config: I have 2 x HP DL585 servers each with 4 Dual core Opterons (non-vmx) and 16GB RAM configured as Xen servers. These run CentOS 5.1 with the latest updates applied. These system both attach to an iSCSI target which is an HP DL385

Hung XFS filesystems on Samba server
This is probably a hardware problem but I am posting here in case anyone else has seen it or it is actually software. If you have seen anything like it please let me know. Chuck For the last 1.5 years I have had occasional problems on a large (6.8 TB) Samba server. Two of the mounted filesystems will partially dismount at intervals between 3 days and 3 months. Files will still be open but any

OT: iscsi target bind to two addresses?
Does anyone know off hand how to bind iscsi enterprise target to two distinct addresses. Lets say I have a machine that has a bunch of interfaces on it, with different subnets. Rather than have ietd broadcast itself on all interfaces (the default), I would like to limit it to only two interfaces. I have edited the init.d startup script with --address x.x.x.x which works, but I tried using the

Problems with PXELINUX falling through to localboot on a HP Proliant DL385
I'm having problems with PXELINUX passing through to a "localboot" on a HP Proliant DL385. I'm working with 3.73. If I configure PXELINUX to directly "localboot", everything works. If I configure PXELINUX to use menu.c32 or anything like that, a subsequent localboot fails. I see the expected "PXE ROM exiting" message but the next device doesn't

HP DL585 - CentOS4.5 - kix woes
Hi Well we are now using HP instead of Dell and have hit a major hurdle. We dont seem to be able to kix any of these boxes. I have been most recently trying on a dl585 and the issue appears to be that the kix kernel does not detect any nic. Its strange as the box can be installed using iso's and the nic appears as eth0: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5706 1000Base-T (A2) PCI-X 64-bit 100MHz

checksum offloading causing problems?
Can anyone tell me under what circumstances checksum offloading might cause problems? I have the following configuration: 1. Remote router (OpenWRT) with PC''s on the LAN and a GRE tunnel to the head office 2. Central office with a server running Xen 3.1.2. Dom0 is doing PPPoE and is terminating the GRE tunnels 3. Main corporate application running on a Linux DomU, accessed via ssh. The

Availability of OCFS 1.0.14 for RHAS 2.1 Itanium64
Do you have a timeline when the OCFS 1.0.14-1 will be available on RHAS 2.1 Itanium 64 platform? Or is there going to be one? We notice that OCFS 1.0.14-1 has been available for RHAS 2.1 32 bit for quite a while. Thanks. gigE -> 100Mb problems
I've got a pair of identical CentOS 6.7 servers, with SuperMicro X8DTE-F motherboards, these have 2 each Intel 82574L ethernet ports. The eth0 ports are plugged in with 10' runs of brand new cat 5e cable to a Cisco Nexxus 9000 switch (provided by the data center). These servers keep coming up at 100baseT rather than gigE. I've swapped ports and cables with a different server,

Possible to run iscsi-target and initiator on same server?
I am trying to install Oracle RAC in a two node cluster for testing purposes, so performance is not something that concerns me. I just want to go through the process all the way to creating a database. I have all the prerequisites except the shared storage and thought I'd give this a try. I'm running: - CentOS 5.3 kernel 2.6.18-164.el5 - iscsitarget-1.4.18-1 -

Traffic going to wrong interface?
I have a samba server with 2 ethernet ports, one of which is a gigabit port. When connecting from a windows client that has a crossover to the gigabit port, and a crossover to the 100Meg port: If I connect via \\gige.ethernet.address\foo , and copying a large file, windows reports outbound traffic on the gige port and return traffic on the 100Meg port. Thus, it seems the samba server sees the

I have 28GB but "Only the first 16 GB of the physical memory map can be accessed..."
I''m currently using the xen-3.0-testing.hg version with the XEN_TARGET_X86_PAE=y complied dom0/hypervisor. I have an HP dl585 with 28GB but the hypervisor boots and says "(XEN) WARNING: Only the first 16 GB of the physical memory map can be accessed...". Xentop shows 16GB. When I boot a RHEL4 2.6.9 hugemem kernel, I can see all 28GB. Any suggestions? Toby

HP DL585 G2 -- no nics
Hi folks, I've just spent about six hours messing around with an HP DL585 G2 server trying to get CentOS to go. This box is a dual-CPU with dual cores and 10GB of RAM total. According to the datasheet, the POST screens, and the BIOS, it has the Broadcom embedded NICs in it. The problem boils down to the installed OS (4.4 x86_64) not seeing the NICs. If you do an lspci on the system
