Status app for mobile
Is there an app in existence that can view status of an samba server (and
it's shares)? I am running my samba servers as vm's inside proxmox pve, and
the official PVE app is great, but it only shows the vm's itself, not the
more important information as the running services inside the vm.
Android or iPhone.

I?ll second that Zabbix motion. With Zabbix you can monitor both Proxmox, and Samba shares.
The problem I?m fighting now, is after trying to upgrade Samba on AIX I can?t get it to join the domain.

Decent Performance
Hi all,
I am trying to get some decent speed out of a vanilla Debian (Proxmox) box and
am running out of ideas. Basically I can exchange data at 110MB/sec (raw, nfs,
ftp) but not with Samba shares.
I tried almost every samba tuning tip I could find to no avail. The only
optimisation left to smb.conf at the moment is debug level = 0. As one can see
the robocopy throughput is merely half of what

Web proxy/content filter w/ AD integration
I need to setup a proxy that does transparent auth to AD, does anyone
have experience or suggestions for a setup that will run in CentOS? I came
across an article on integrating Squid with Windows AD for auth but it
doesn't auth transparently (is that even possible?).
Thanks!

Sorry for the OT.
Does anyone can share to how to reset an IBM Bladecenter Advance

Recently, I've got an IBM Bladecenter chassis E 8677. There's no one in

Thank you,

I agree. I think either would work. A cluster with striping and
mirroring of volumes should fit all the requirements.

Web Filter
I have a location using a CentOS 5 server that's multihomed running Asterisk and iptables for internal web access.
Recently some sales people got busted surfing some explicit content so the owner wants something in there to block this.
I had heard of Dans Guardian and am reading about what's involved here but just wanted an opinion on what's the best solution for this. NTLM silent

Hello everyone,
I am using samba4 as my Primary Domain Controller in my company. But I am concerned if my DC goes down due to some reason then is there any way I can create a Backup Domain Controller or Secondary Domain Controller which can be used at that moment of time so that all my users can login to their respected machines with all the policies. I don't want my organization's work

Virtio-disk with driver from Microsoft from 2006 ?
Hi,
i wanted to benchmark a windows guest, compare standard driver and virtio driver.
I installed the domain first with an IDE disk.
I followed https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Paravirtualized_Block_Drivers_for_Windows to install the virtIO driver.
In the device manager my VirtIO disk is recognized as a VirtIO SCSI disk from RedHat which seems ok for me.
But the driver is, following the device

does anyone have experience with clusters?
Hi all,
I want to start experimenting with clusters, and I would like to use
normal desktop grade hardware for this. I have some extra PC
components lying around, enough to build 3 - 4 moderate desktops with
a PIV / C2D CPU & 512MB - 1GB RAM each. All the machines should have
at least a 100MB NIC, but I can add a gigabit NIC to the machines that
doesn't have it if need be.
I have used

XEN control panel
Hi,
I''m looking for an XEN control panel. It is for a single machine. I have
been testing OpenQRM and Enimalism. Both are for networks bigger than 1

It needs to be installed on an CentOS or an Debian system.
Does anyone have an idea?

Speed up rsync with many of excluded files
Hello,
I have a problem while rsyncing a directory with perhaps 1.000.000
files. Before this I generate some files locally and add them to temp
files. So this files should be excluded from syncing.
My rsync call looks like this:
rsync --exclude='tmp/' \
--exclude-from=/tmp/tmp.GF7SsFPnS3 \
--exclude-from=/tmp/tmp.8SjJNCHyaI \
--exclude-from=/tmp/tmp.CxZXEoPjgV \

NUT 2.8.0-7 Can't claim USB device [2341:8036]@2/0: Invalid parameter using usbhid-ups
Hi, you need a newer version of NUT. I was doing a similar project with
that library and NUT needed some PRs to get it work. IIRC, v2.8.2 has
everything needed.
