Big problems after update to 9.6
Hi David,
It seems like a network issue to me, As it's unable to connect the other node and getting timeout.
Few things you can check-
* Check the /etc/hosts file on both the servers and make sure it has the correct IP of the other node.
* Are you binding gluster on any specific IP, which is changed after your update.
* Check if you can access port 24007 from the other host.

Hi David,
It seems that I have misread your quorum options, so just ignore that from my previous e-mail.

gluster volume status under FreeBSD 11.1
Hello,
I guess this has nothing to do with GlusterFS per se however any tips
would be greatly appreciated.
The issue is that executing 'gluster volume status' under FreeBSD 11.1
results in no data although functionality wise everything is working
fine:
# gluster volume status
Status of volume: gvol0
Gluster process TCP Port RDMA Port Online Pid

GFS performance under heavy traffic
Hi David,
Also consider using the mount option to specify backup server via 'backupvolfile-server=server2:server3' (you can define more but I don't thing replica volumes greater that 3 are usefull (maybe in some special cases).
In such way, when the primary is lost, your client can reach a backup one without disruption.
P.S.: Client may 'hang' - if the primary server got

It makes sense, as no data is being generated towards

Can't pass parameters to Ziya controller using url_for
Hi All,
I''m stuck yet again. I have an action on a controller that produces a
Ziya graph, which I call using the gen_chart() helper. However, I can''t
seem to pass more than one parameter through to the action.
<%= gen_chart( "overview_graph",
url_for( :controller => ''graph'', :action => ''graph'', :graph_id =>

GFS performance under heavy traffic
Hi David,
Gluster supports live rolling upgrade, so there is no need to redeploy at all - but the migration notes should be checked as some features must be disabled first.
Also, the gluster client should remount in order to bump the gluster op-version.
What kind of workload do you have ?
I'm asking as there are predefined (and recommended) settings located at /var/lib/gluster/groups .

rsync/jscript/cygwin problem
I'm using a javascript program to execute rsync 2.5.6
compiled with cygwin on Windows XP Pro machines.
These backup the user's "My Documents" folder to a
Linux server running rsync 2.5.6 in daemon mode
when the user logs in to XP and certain conditions are
met (e.g. user hasn't backed up for a few days, user
on the network etc).
This works great except every now and then

Change machine name without a reboot?
Systemd service files are generally coming with packages. This means these
files can be overwritten by some system update if this updates also your
Samba packages (note: I never had nor tested that behaviour with Samba
packages, but it happens for other packages).

Change machine name without a reboot?
I'm having trouble changing the machine name programmatically on Samba 4
(running under systemd). There's no "netbios name" option in smb.conf, so
I'm relying on it using the hostname. Here's what I'm doing:
1) Call sethostname() with the new name.
2) Write the same name into /etc/hostname, to make it nonvolatile.
3) Read a decimal number from /var/run/smbd.pid.

Samba 4 join AD by samba
Hi,
I have a task which requires AD + windows roaming profiles + automatic
backups.
I want to use samba 4 AD server (debian jessie) + samba 4 file server for
user's home profiles (opensuse 13.1) + zfs for storage backend.
The reason why I need 2 servers (actually a server with hosted lxc
container) is because opensuse has kerberos mit by default (
samba at lists.samba.org.)
I've

ShowMessage (second attempt)
Surely someone out there knows how to notify their
Windows users that access to their samba server is
going to be terminated....
Any help will be *greatly* appreciated.

I would like to shut down samba before I begin my

R nls results different from those of Excel ??
Hi all
I have a set of data whose scatter plot shows a very nice power
relationship. My problem is when I fit a Power Trend Line in an Excel
spreadsheet, I get the model y= 44.23x^2.06 with an R square value of 0.72.
Now, if I input the same data into R and use
model< -nls(y~ a*x^b , trace=TRUE, data= my_data, start = c(a=40, b=2)) I
get a solution with a = 246.29 and b = 1.51. I have tried

Hi,
Does anyone have experience of using ldbedit or similar, to remove the

perhaps query something using ldbsearch, to find the duplicates,
before using ldbedit?

Replication Failure Issue
Thanks Carlos,
The thing is, that I did not upgrade the version of Samba - that is the next step, so the ports used would not have changed. I only updated the OS.
