Faster union of polygons?
Dear R-helpers,
thanks for yesterday's speeding-up tip. Here is my next query:
I have lots of polygons (not necessarily convex ones, and they never
have holes) given by x,y coordinates.
I want to get the polygon that is the union of these polygons. This is
my current method, but I am hoping there is a faster method (up to
thousands of polygons, each with ca. 40 xy points).
Example:

directory permission problems
I have shares such as the one below. Users in the group (in this
example, the group grants) can access the root directory of the share
(\\roark\grants) just fine, and it and all files and subfolder
permissions are 770 and owned by the group grants, but users have
problems going into subfolders, getting access denied errors. Or, in
the root directory they can create files, but not delete or

[PATCH] xen-blk: persistent-grants fixes
This patch contains fixes for persistent grants implementation v2:
* handle == 0 is a valid handle, so initialize grants in blkback
setting the handle to BLKBACK_INVALID_HANDLE instead of 0. Reported
by Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk.
* new_map is a boolean, use "true" or "false" instead of 1 and 0.

Test the result of a hiera_hash() lookup
Hi folks,
Is there a way to test the result of a hiera_hash() lookup in a manifest? I
am trying to use hiera to do most of my configuration, like this for
example:
mysql::grants:
''user1@localhost'':
privileges:
- select_priv
''user2@localhost'':
privileges:
- select_priv
- insert_priv
- lock_tables_priv
I have a wrapper

Only running database_grant the first time.
I''m using puppet through Vagrant to manage my dev VM, and as part of that I
have a few database grants that I run after creating users, but when I
subsequently run vagrant up or provision these grants fail (because of some
changes I make to the mysql config after they have been created.)
I''m using database_grant to execute the grants, but there doesn''t seem to
be a

ZFS core contributor nominations
The time has come to review the current Contributor and Core contributor
grants for ZFS. Since all of the ZFS core contributors grants are set
to expire on 02-24-2009 we need to renew the members that are still
contributing at core contributor levels. We should also add some new
members to both Contributor and Core contributor levels.
First the current list of Core contributors:

ERROR 1045 (28000) when trying to login into the mysql through user test1
hey friends,
I am running Mysql server version: 4.1.20 on Centos 4.0. The problem I
am facing is that I am not able to access the databases if I login
through anyother user for example test1
mysql -u test1 -p
Enter password:

Eager Loading + Confusion
So I''m trying to do a find with an order by specific column values
thing, but some of the columns are attributes through associations.
So I did some eager loading with the :include option to try and access
the attributes of the object I''m doing the find on. Stuff has been
blowing up on me so far.
Here''s the code in the controller right now:

[PATCH] Persistent grant maps for xen blk drivers
This patch implements persistent grants for the xen-blk{front,back}
mechanism. The effect of this change is to reduce the number of unmap
operations performed, since they cause a (costly) TLB shootdown. This
allows the I/O performance to scale better when a large number of VMs
are performing I/O.
Previously, the blkfront driver was supplied a bvec[] from the request
queue. This was granted to

Native MySQL Type
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi all!
Just a few minutes ago I checked in the final parts of a rough draft of mysql
database, user and grants handling native types. Currently they can only
create and drop databases and users, set and change passwords and modify
global and per-db grants.
Known bugs:
* no documentation
* mysql_grant doesn''t correctly canonicalize

Access to R from a remote location
Currently, our organization grants some employees remote access to SAS
and other software through a secure Citrix-based network server. We
would like to install R on a dedicated network server and enable remote
access through Citrix. Is this possible? If so, what additional
software would we need? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

[OT] DHCP auth&auth software
Does anyone know about some free (as in beer, and maybe as in speech) software
which would implement authentication and authorization of a user prior to
issuing a valid dhcp lease?
I imagine the following scenario: someone walks into my office building with a
laptop (a colleague, a visitor, a guest, whoever), and hooks up onto the local
net (wired or wireless). The server detects an unknown

HTB problem
Hello,
I''m having some problems using HTB to prioritize traffic on my linux router.
The main problem is as follows:
I have a 6Mbits channel on the metropolitan network and a 64kbps link
for the sites outside my country.
These 64kbps are dynamically allocated by my ISP so I usually get
something like 128kbps , sometimes 512kbps and even 1 Mbit; it varies
all the time.
Because of this

Enhanced authentication and authorization in rsyncd
Hi,
I added a few things to allow the rsync daemon?more refined
authorization and authentication than the current implementation.
The attached patch file is against the 3.0.6 version.
Additions:
1. allow the uid and gid used to access a certain module to be
determined by the authenticated user -
??? uid = __auth__ will use the auth_user's uid
??? gid = __auth__ will use the auth user's
