CentOS Wiki
Hi there, my name is Sebastian Dziallas and I would like to contribute to the CentOS Wiki. I thought a bit about what I could do and I think I would like to help translating the wiki in other languages. I speak English, German and also French. My UserName is - what a surprise - SebastianDziallas. On the HowToContribute-Page you said that I should know where to put the articles. As you

centos wiki strangeness.
In preparing to answer a question about some yum undesired behavior, I wanted to reference fastest mirror info, but when I went to https://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/FastestMirror I find all the text has been squished to the right hand side of the page and made 1 word wide all the way down. The https://wiki.centos.org/FrontPage looks similar but perhaps it is a little better? Or is

typo on a Wiki page
I don't know the correct way to get this into the system, so I'm posting here. On this page: http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities a line begins: Some packages specify obsoletes in their metadata. This property of a packages that should be "This property of a package" not packages, singular. An incredibly minor error, on an extremely helpful Wiki page. Lanny

wiki contribution
Hi, I wanted to add a few notes in the wiki on the fastestmirror plugin on how you can add exclude info in the fastestmirror.conf file. This became important because amazingly ucalgary.ca shows up as a fastestmirror for servers I have in both Nevada and New York. However, the mirror is horribly slow for actual downloads and frequently times out. So, I just want to add info on how to add the

Wiki page versioning
Hi all, Marking Wiki pages/howtos by CentOS version was discussed a while ago. How about using something like the attached MoinMoin (plugin) macro? It adds a macro named 'CentOSVersion' that could mark the page at the beginning of an howto in a uniform manner: [[CentOSVersion(4,5)]] This will draw a little table of the following form: --------------------------- | CentOS version: | 4 |

Contribute to wiki
Good afternoon, My username is GrahamWilliamson I would like to have access to the CentOS wiki. I want to create and add some initial content to the VoIP SIG. http://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup has a link to http://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/Voip however I feel the VoIP SIG page should actually be http://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/VoIP. Spacewalk howto for CentOS 5
Hi, I would like to contribute a howto page about the configuration of Spacewalk for package management under CentOS 5. Spacewalk is the upstream project for the source of RedHat Network Satellite. It provides a management interface for software updates across registered servers and desktops. Here is were I would like to put this page: <http://www.redhat.com/red_hat_network/>

Clarification in HowTos/MigrationGuide page
Hi, A little more of clarification :) ... In some wiki pages say that the protectbase and priorities yum plugins can not be used together. It seems that the next paragraph must be updated: ====> Always beware when using/mixing 3rd-party repos. The yum protectbase and/or priorities plugins are your friends. Although both can be used together, using protectbase is probably unnecessary if

Using CentOS repos in a RHEL machine
Hi I have 2 machines with RHEL 5.2 and I would like to use CentOS repos. I would like to know if the document "Using CentOS Repositories on RHEL Machines"[1] can be used in CentOS 5.2 without too much modifications. Thanks Marcelo [1] http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/PackageManagement/YumOnRHEL

CentOS-5.3 yum-priorites
I visited http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities which tells me to install the package yum-priorities available from extras. I try this and it fails. # yum install yum-priorities Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * addons: mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca * base: mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca * extras: mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca * updates:

Revert Spacewalk document
Dear all, HugoDoria's last two edits on the Spacewalk page (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/PackageManagement/Spacewalk) have removed line feeds from all preformatted text, as well as pointed to some RHEL6 packages on a page written for CentOS 5. I propose that the page be reverted backed to revision 82. Regards, Timothy

Suggested yum priorities settings for 3rd party repos
In the yum priorities page on the wiki Akemi Yagi suggests http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities [base], [addons], [updates], [extras] ... priority=1 [centosplus],[contrib] ... priority=2 Third Party Repos ... priority=N (where N is > 10 and based on your preference) If you have rpmforge, kbs, epel all set up at 10 then wouldn't those also potentially overwrite
