VPN Server Recomendations
Hi Guys, I'm looking for a VPN solution that will run on CentOS. I've used PopTop with success but some clients have problems at hotels and other firewalled locations. If anyone can suggest something that works well with MS 2000/XP, doesn't require too much tweaking on the client side and is fairly resiliant to various firewall blocking, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Using Samba over VPN - shares disconnect on Windows clients
I am running Poptop 1.1.4 VPN server, Samba 3.0.6, RH 9 (2.4.20-8 patched for mppe-mppc). When the end user connects via VPN, they can create a share to the samba shared folder that was created. When they clost the explorer window, then reopen the shared drive from the "My Computer" view, the share can not be re-opened with the error that the mapped drive is alreay in use. I have

It mostly works, however, if I try to connect using

VPN server and logon to Samba PDC
My goal is to make VPN access to our Samba PDC (FreeBSD 7.0) so that users can access there home shares from Windows clients. I have read the instructions at http://samba.org/ftp/unpacked/lorikeet/pppd/final-report.pdf, but I can't make it work. Don't know if is due to my lack of skills or has something to do with the Popop functionality in FreeBSD. Following the instructions, i made a

Problem with mail_location and INDEX location
HI, I'm pulling my hair out a little trying to get dovecot to save it's index locally rather than in the NFS mount. No matter what I do it seems to save the indices in the Maildir on the NFS. I'm using dovecot 2.0.18 on CentOS 6.3. The relevant config I'm using: mmap_disable = no dotlock_use_excl = no # only needed with NFSv2, NFSv3+ supports O_EXCL and it's faster

Request permission to edit/create new entries for FreeNX and YUMEX
Hi people I will like to ask for the permission to rewrite the current FreeNX article. The current article is lacking in the information on how to add accounts to the nxserver on centos. I think it will be very difficult for linux newbies to understand how to read that article. I am a newbie too so I can understand the frustration when you can't find an appropriate HowTo article. samba 3.2 breaks ppp winbind plugin
We have a system running fedora 8 using pptpd from the poptop yum repository. See http://www.poptop.org/ pptpd/pppd use the winbind plugin from the ppp package to authenticate to Active Directory. This works just fine. Then I found the same setup would not work on a fedora 9 setup. In order to exclude any possible configuration errors I built a virtual machine and simulated an upgrade. This

Folks I would like to have my windows 7 laptop communicate with my home server via a VPN, in such a way that it appears to be "inside" my home network. It should not only let me appear to be at home for any external query, but also let me access my computers inside my home. I already have this working using M$'s PPTP using my home Centos 6 gateway/router as the PoPToP server.
