How do you scale dovecot for good performance with Roundcube webmailer in front? (hitting limits without exhausting resources)
Good day, I am currently setting up/debugging a webmailer-only setup using Roundcube (latest version) with Dovecot (2.3.20, latest as of now). Generally speaking the setup performs OK, I wrote a JMeter Roundcube script to test the Roundcube. This includes actions like listing mails and fetching them. I am hitting a somehow dubious limit of 600 req/s though. (This includes all kinds of HTTP calls

Director proxy timeout
Timo, Is the director proxy inactivity timeout configurable? I just recently attempted to switch our production webmail's imapproxy system to use a pool of two directors and ran into problems with it apparently disconnecting them unexpectedly. I don't believe that it IDLEs, I think it just UNSELECTs to reset the state and then keeps the connection open until it's used again, or until

Post-migration questions
I just migrated from courier-imap to dovecot and dovecot is a lot faster. My only client is webmail on the same server as dovecot. Max ~10 users. Should I still run imapproxy like I did with courier? Does dovecot periodically empty the trash folder like courier does? I reduced the number of processes courier was running to save RAM and improve performance. Are there any performance tweaks I

422 Error when using JMeter for load testing
I have a Rails 3.1 application that I am trying to use JMeter to load test. Our site is targeted around collecting information so users sign-up and then walk through a question and answer workflow and after answering a few questions, they are rewarded with some useful information. My JMeter test is configured to walk through sign-up and then the full Q&A workflow. Environment details:

advices for a new installation
hello everyone, first of all, please forgive my bad english skill, I live in France. On our "old" Dovecot 1.x architecture, we have NFS shares between the front servers (MTA, IMAP...) and mail storage server. I've read some wiki2 pages that present the new director and imap proxy. But I'm still don't see things clearly, so I post here to have your advices to set-up a new mail

dsync having problems with @-sign in mailbox names
Hi there We are running Cyrus-to-Dovecot migrations using dsync on destination Dovecot server (Debian Stretch / latest Dovecot 2.3.7.2 from community repo) like this: $ doveadm -o mail_fsync=never backup -R -u <username> imapc: For imapc configuration to connect to remote Cyrus server, see below [1]. While this works great for hundreds of mailaccounts, dsync fails with the following

IMAP-proxy or not with sogo webmail and dovecot backend
We've been collecting some stats to see what kind of benefits UP/SquirrelMail's IMAP Proxy in for our SOGo webmail users. weird situation with pop3/imap proxy and postfix authentication
Hello dovecot mailing list, I have a server running postfix and dovecot. I havea configuration on dovecot that allows me to provide imap4/pop3 messages for local hosted users as well as for proxied users on other servers. Basically, i have a simple MySQL table (imapproxy) with two fields, 'domain' and 'host'. My password_query isa 'UNION' query, exactly like:

Proxy to more Servers
Hi list! Finally I got the LDAP-Authentication work (it was a problem of the OU-Path... :( ). Now I can authenticate the user against the AD and forwarding the IMAP-Connection to the Exchange Server. Wow! My next problem: we have TWO ADs and TWO Exchange-Servers. The first AD has the users for the first Exchange, and the second AD for the second Exchange. I defined two files so:

proxy user wildcard
Hi, I'd like to try dovecot as a imapproxy in front of a webmailer. Authentication should be done by the main dovecot-imapserver. It works if I specify the user in passdb passwd-file: user2::0:0::::proxy=yes host=[ip-address] ssl=any-cert starttls=yes nopassword=y Is there some kind of catch-all function to pass all users to the main dovecot-imapserver without knowing the valid users?

ACL ignored for master users

Login as master user works fine though, and I am able to access any mailbox using the auth_master_user_separator "*", tested e.g. via Python's imaplib: import imaplib imap = imaplib.IMAP4_SSL('imap.example.com') imap.login('foo at example.com*admin-acldemo', '**********') ('OK', [b'Logged

Load Testing Rails Apps with Jmeter
I am experimenting with using Jmeter to load test my Rails Application. I am looking to find the session variable name that identifies the session id. This needs to be added to a HTML URL Re-writing modifier, to associate a request with a session. Any assistance would be appreciated. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to
