Laptop recommendation
Hello,
I am looking for a laptop with the following specs:
Built-in GSM module
Trusted platform module
Support for these modules, as for the network (Ethernet + WiFi) for
RHEL/Centos6.
I tested Lenovo W540, and the WiFi is not detected. lspci shows:

modestly priced laptop for C7
I'm looking to replace my (old, creaky) netbook (Acer Aspire One D255e,
a screaming dual core 1.6 GHz Atom, and a whole 2 gigs of RAM) with
something faster but not too large. Sometimes (usually) the netbook is
painfully slow.
Something like a hi-res 14 (or 15) inch screen (full HD), minimum of 4 gigs
RAM, HD of a half terabyte or bigger.
I'd like to not have to go over 600-700 dollars,

Can't start Wine after suspend on Laptop
Currently running Wine 1.2-rc2 on Ubuntu 10.04 x64 on a Lenovo ThinkPad x61. After doing a suspend, I can't run Wine. The app I normally run with Wine is Lotus Notes. But I've tried something as simple as going in to the wine config. I tried doing a wineserver -k but that doesn't help either. Only thing I found to work is a full reboot.
This has actually been happening since Ubuntu

OT: laptop recommendations for CentOS6
Hi all,
First of all, sorry for the OT. I need to buy a new laptop for my
work. My prerequisites are:
- RAM: 6/8 GiB (preferably 8 GiB)
- Processor: Core i7
- Disk: up to 500 GiB for SATA, 128 GiB for SSD.
- Graphics card: Intel HD (I really hate to use Nvidia or ATI Radeon
graphics cards).
The most important tasks will be:
- Surf the web :)
- Read email
- And the Most important

Create ThinkPad R61i laptop page
Hi,
I just purchased a new ThinkPad R61i since my R40 died. I previously ran
CentOS 4 on my old one, but have loaded CentOS 5 on the new one. I'd
like to add whatever I can regarding my hardware.
I followed the directions for adding a laptop page, but I was never
promoted to enter any information after choosing the laptop template. I
did login with my username first as well.
The page would

C6: Suspend on laptop close doesn't work
Hello,
I've been running Fedora on my Lenovo X61s laptop for many
(Fedora) generations.
Fedora 15, however, was not my cup of tea, so I've decided to wipe
out Fedora, and do a clean install of CentOS 6 (x86_64).
Everything works OK, except that the laptop does not suspend when
I close the lid.
I've checked the settings in "Power Management", and it is set
to suspend when

[PATCH] RFC: ACPI / OSI: remove workarounds for hybrid graphics laptops
It's hard to figure out what systems are actually affected and right now I
don't see a good way of removing those...
But I'd like to see thos getting removed and drivers fixed instead (which
happened at least for nouveau).
And as mentioned before, I prefer people working on fixing issues instead
of spending time to add firmware level workarounds which are hard to know
to which

rubygems fail - require hpricot!
Hi guys,
I wanted to fetch some info from webpage and use it in my db. I read
hpricot is one way to do it. But the problem is I''m unable to use it
with my app. For some reason after successfully installing hpricot it
fails when I try to use it in the rails console.
I''ve been trying to fix this for the last four-five days. I''m stumped !
I tried re-installing everything

Apps moving to laptop display when switching KVM
So I installed CentOS Stream 9 on a new Lenovo T14 Gen 4 Intel.
I have a 4x1 HDMI KVM with external monitor.
When switching the KVM, apps move between displays / workspaces in erratic ways.
More specifically, when switching out, apps on the external display
usually move to the laptop display.
This sorta makes sense for a laptop with an external display.
When the external display is

Virt-Lightning: a cloud-like CLI for libvirt
Hi all,
Tl;dr: Virt-Lightning uses libvirt, cloud-init and libguestfs to allow
anyone to quickly start new VM. Very much like a container CLI interface,
but locally.
-> https://github.com/virt-lightning/virt-lightning
To validate my Ansible roles, I was looking for a way to quickly start
and stop my test environments. I was looking for an experience similar

I have configured a routed network on my laptop with a ipv6 subnet and
dnsmasq is handing out ipv6 addresses to my vms and it works really wel,
but finding out which ips have been used is not as easy as with ipv4.

Create qcow2 v3 volumes via libvirt
Hi all,
on a fully patched CentOS 7.4 x86-64, I see the following behavior:
- when creating a new volumes using vol-create-as, the resulting file is
a qcow2 version 2 (compat=0.10) file. Example:
[root@gdanti-lenovo vmimages]# virsh vol-create-as default zzz.qcow2
