Problems with Internal DNS Samba 4
Hi, I'm folowing the tutorial: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End But, the follows file there isn't in my DC, so can I to create it manually? /usr/local/samba/bind-dns/named.conf file and uncomment the module for your BIND version. Problems with Internal DNS Samba 4
Hi, I have updated my DC's to Samba 4.10.7, but I still can't add a new DC to the domain. I believe the problem is with Samba Internal DNS. So I would like to convert my DNS from Internal DNS to Bind9_DLZ of the production DC's. Then I will join a new DC to the domain to see if it works. I checked the tutorials: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server

How to backup data from an installation in order to restore them in a new one?
Hello. I appreciate the advice and maybe "revoked" is not an appropriate word, so I will use another one: Machine (A) is going to be "shut down forever". Do my questions deserve another answer given that clarification? And, by the way, I have two DCs (a "provisioned" one and a "joined" one). The two DCs will be "shut down forever" and replaced

Samba and DNS backend question
I had configured Samba AD's with Bind9_DLZ in all DC. But for some reason (i couldn't determine) three (sambadc02,03,04) AD's responded very slowly . So change to Samba_Internal backend into the servers with problem and works fine. sambadc01 -> with FSMO roles - Bind9_DLZ sambadc02 -> Samba_Internal sambadc03 -> Samba_Internal sambadc04 -> Samba_Internal My question is:

Segmentation fault in samba_upgradedns - Samba 4.4.5
Hi, I'm having the following issue when trying to switch from samba_internal to bind9_dlz. I have been following the procedure here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Changing_the_DNS_backend# Changing_from_Samba_Internal_DNS_to_BIND_DLZ I get the following: [root at dc2 ~]# /usr/local/sbin/samba_upgradedns --dns-backend=BIND9_DLZ Reading domain information Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Samba Migration and AD integration
Hi Rowland, Thank you. Yes to the first point. We are using Bind9 but to continue using it is not necessarily set in stone. If using Samba Internal DNS makes more sense then we can do that too. The question is do we need to do dns-upgrade and use Internal DNS, pre-migration? Then use internal dns during the classic migration? Also, I assume the bind9 service will have to stopped if infact we

DNS backend
Hello. which are the main differences between Samba_Internal and BIND9_DLZ ? I refer to the differences about functionality such as zone transfers and automatic updates. Which others functionalities offers BIND9, that Samba_Internal doesn't support ? Is it possible to use a DNS Server (Bind9) separate of the DC Samba4? I mean, in other server. Thanks for reply, FelipeGS6 .

Migrating samba AD DC from 4.1.0 to 4.7.0 and dns backend change
Hi, We are in the process of migrating our samba AD (4.1.0pre1-GIT-6be458d) to the latest 4.7.0 release. In the process we want to switch from the BIND_DLZ to the internal dns server. I have done some experiments in our test environment and everything seems to work ok, but I'm not sure how to handle the dns backend change. Is it just the case of running samba_upgradedns

Setup a Samba AD DC as an additional DC
I've installed these packages: apt-get install samba winbind libnss-winbind libpam-winbind libpam-krb5 krb5-config Installing on fresh Ubuntu 18.04 server Nothing is configured yet as following the wikis you come to the DNS configuration before you get to configuring Samba stuff. Wiki states: If you are planning to set up a Samba Active Directory (AD) domain controller (DC) using the

Bind_DLZ and two AD DC
My first Active Directory setup had two DC's and shortly after getting things going the second DC created a hardware failure issue and I just continued life with one DC. Now, while upgrading I am returning to two DC's. In a normal Bind9 "master and slave" setup the master always "feeds" the slave. With Bind9_DLZ setup (recommended to be used with Samba4) there is

Bind9_DLZ DNS updating
Still pursuing my strange problem with windows clients randomly (2 or 3 a day on a network of about 200 pc's) ?not allowing logins until reboot. Nailing down some best practises in an attempt to fix. My best guess is that it's a Kerberos issue --sensitive to time sync and DNS. -- Installed chrony instead of ntpsec (seems to perform as advertised) -- (Today) moved to BIND9_DLZ instead of
