SSH contribution?
List,
Whilst I'm in the mood for contributing stuff, here's another little
howto I wrote on securing SSH that has proved popular in the past:
http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=433216
If you feel it is suitable and you would like me to contribute it to the
CentOS wiki, just set up a page in the appropriate area and I'll be
happy to add it.
Regards,
Ned

Short postgrey guide?
Hi Guys,
Are you interested in a brief guide on how to set up postgrey (anti-spam
greylisting) with postfix? I set it up today and it took me a while to
get it working as the config is slightly different from that on many of
the googled guides (many are debian/ubuntu based). The darn config file
lives in /etc/sysconfig on RH/CentOS rather than /etc/default as
mentioned in all the guides I

Problems with building an rpm
I followed the setup instructions from
http://www.owlriver.com/tips/non-root/ (link from the Centos wiki). All
this is done on another 'clean' system, so I have to read the terminal
screen there and tell what went wrong here.
I then followed my colleague's instructions to get the tar, untar,
autogen, configure, and finally make rpm.
Well it was that make rpm command that finally

iptables article for Wiki
Hi List,
I have been asked in this thread if I would contribute an article on
iptables to the Wiki:
http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=10240&forum=37
The article would be based on a tutorial I have previously written here:
http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=432469
I'm not sure where the article should best go so leave that to your
discretion. If you

VNC Questions
Fresh install of CentOS 5.4 (and my first experience with CentOS).
Following install, the first thing I did was enable desktop sharing
so that I can control this new 1U box from my Mac workstation.
The VNC client sees this as "Warren's remote desktop" but I'd like it
to be more meaningful, as I have other remote desktops. Where in the
user settings/prefs do I change the way

Markup for commands
Hi,
I just edited http://wiki.centos.org/de/TipsAndTricks/BecomingRoot and
formatted all the commands in section 1.1 as `monospace`. Since the main
font and the monospace font look quite similar, it is sometimes
difficult to see where one ends and the other starts.
Therefore I propose to add the following CSS rule to the whole CentOS wiki:
#page tt.backtick {
background-color: #eee;

CentOS 5.4 64-bit: Java web browser plugin for 64-bit FireFox?
Does there exist *anywhere* a Java web browser plugin for 64-bit
FireFox? The SUN 1.6<mumble> JDK (jdk-6u18-linux-amd64.rpm) does NOT
include the Java web browser plugin library.
java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-1.2.b09.el5.x86_64.rpm does not have one
either. Should I install the *32-bit* SUN 1.6<mumble> JDK and use the
32-64 bit wrapper? I've searched the web and read the wiki

SELinux
Hi list,
I've knocked up a contribution on SELinux here:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/SELinux
I've tried to pitch it as an introduction for those not already familiar
with SELinux but also hopefully a useful reference.
I'm relatively new to SELinux and have covered pretty much everything I
know to the limits of my limited knowledge. If folks think other
material needs to be

"Securing OpenSSH" link it to "Banner Files"
Hi,
I would like to add a small section about "Banners" to "Securing
OpenSSH" and then link it to the "Banner Files".
Any objections ? or is this a task for the author ?
Kind regards
Mats

SOHO colour laser printer recommendations
Hi List,
I'd really appreciate some recommendations for colour laser printers for
use with CentOS. It's for light home use with CentOS 5 and CentOS 6 systems.
Must have:
1. Colour. Quality not that important as mainly for kids school project
type of stuff.
2. Ethernet connectivity - want something I can plug into the network
3. Cheap running costs - don't want to be spending a

amavisd-new, spamassassin and clamav
Hi List,
I've been working on documenting an amavisd-new, spamassassin and clamav
installation for postfix on CentOS5 with regards to writing this up for
the Wiki (with invaluable help from forum member WhatsHisName - thanks!).
I hope to make a start on a Wiki page in the next week or so, so if
anyone has any experience with this combo and would like to offer

Is it possible to build a 32-bit version of Wine on 64-bit CentOS 7 ? A
curt "yes" or "no" will do. Eventually I'll RTFM for the details.
Cheers,

el7: Thunderbird?
Hi Folks,
Just wondering what Thunderbird users are doing on el7 now it's been
removed from the distro?
I note EPEL has a thunderbird package but it seems very out of date at
version 24.5.0. Version 24.6.0 was released 10 June, nearly 6 weeks ago,
and fixed 3 critical security issues. Is this normal for EPEL to be so
far behind on security updates?
The other alternative seems to be running
