winbindd with LDAPS
Thank you,
I've seen that commit. But even that seemed to be a STARTTLS inside a
plain ldap connection (389).

Using separate packages for a DC
After realizing that people don't realize (heh) samba DC is
not a regular fileserver, an idea come to me.
How about building two different samba packages (on a distribution
such as debian), one being a regular file server and another is
just for an AD DC, and make them *co-installable*, so each has
its own set of config/library/cache/runtime files?
When installed together, it will be two

Your xen stable upload
Hi,
I noticed that there's a xen upload in the stable-new queue, which
claims to have been uploaded by you.
I'm afraid that we can't accept it currently, because it is a newer
version than is currently in unstable and testing:

Bug#988477: xen-hypervisor-4.14-amd64: xen dmesg shows (XEN) AMD-Vi: IO_PAGE_FAULT on sata pci device
found 988477 4.17.3+10-g091466ba55-1~deb12u1

Justification is same as original, data loss. I'm unsure about of the
border between "data loss" and "serious data loss" is, but the original
reportter declared it so and I don't disagree.

Synology shares not accessible...
Hi,
to all of you which are using Synology NAS systems.
With SMB-Service 4.15.9-0631 no longer shares are accessible via domain
group rights from a Samba 4.17.7 domain.
It seems the same error described in the following mail trails:
"No longer access to shares after upgrade to 4.17.3"
"File server joined to a samba domain accessed by windows 10-11 clients,

Synology shares not accessible...
The only way I have found to fix that is to enable the beta updates in
plugins and install the beta version of samba on the Synology.

Synology shares not accessible...
Hi Travis,
I know, but this is now the released version (4.15.9-0919 beta >
4.15.9-0631), see the history page for SMB-Service:
https://www.synology.com/en-us/releaseNote/SMBService?model=DS918%2B#7_x_series
With the beta version it still works. But we can't stay on the beta
forever I think.
