Samba shares freezing
All, Looking for some help here. Not finding anything on the net that looks the same as what I'm seeing. Running Solaris 10 Sparc, on a Sunfire 5220, 16Gb of RAM. Samba version 3.4.5 and using ZFS file systems with user quotas. All cifs clients shares to this server freeze after about 10 to 15 minutes of connectivity. Only fix is to restart samba. Samba-4.3 FreeBSD-10.3 Roaming Profiles and User Home Drive Shares
We have set up a Samba-4.3 AD-DC on a FreeBSD-10.3 BHyve guest configured with UFS stoarge. The samba_server is provisioned and we can join the Domain and configure the server remotely using MMC snap-ins running on a MS Win-v7Pro workstation. We are at the point where we are implementing roaming profiles. We have followed the instructions found at:

Setting up Profiles share... 777?!
In a fresh samba AD domain i'm setting up the 'Profiles' share for roaming profiles, following the wiki: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs leading to: [profiles] comment = Network Profiles Share csc policy = disable map acl inherit = Yes path = /srv/samba/profiles read only =

Domain Administrator and shares problems
Im not saying anything but having a GID on "domain admins" works fine. For me then since 2014.. getent group "domain admins" domain admins:x:10001:admin,administrator Can you post the output of ls -ald /data/samba What happens when you do this. chmod 1777 /data/samba/profiles or 3777, but that opens access for "domain users" to the users profiles folders. Roaming Profiles with Windows ACLs
I've set up a profiles share according to the wiki article: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Implementing_roaming_profiles Users are able to create new roaming profiles and they cannot browse each others' profiles, so all that is working. The only issue is that the group "domain admins" does not have privileges to read or delete user profiles. The acls on the profiles directory

Unix Attributes in Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) tool
I am using a Samba 4.1.16 as an Active Directory domain controller. After a lot of time complaining to myself that my users' properties sheet in ADUC did not contain the Unix Attributes tab, it finally occurred to me that I should look again into Windows 7 >> Control Panel >> Programs and Features >> Turn Windows Features on and off. Lo and behold, there it is: under

Help on setting up a samba domain controller
My current samba domain controller is running ClearOS. But I am migrating to ARM servers (cubieboards) and using RedSleeve for now, and Centos7arm when that gets rolling. The driver is power savings; my ROI just on power is ~15months. So I only run an NT style Domain Controller with XP clients and roaming user profiles. It works, as there are only a few systems here are really just my

Samba shares with Windows ACL's
I'm having trouble with my new fileserver, I can't make the shares viewable by windows clients. I had the same problems with the first file server I built and cannot remember what I did to "fix" it. I have gone through the page "Setting up a share using Windows ACL's" on the Samba Wiki ( https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs) but

Roaming Profiles acls after upgrade
We recently upgraded our samba 3.6 network to samba 4.2.3. It is still a NT-style domain. The underlying OS was upgraded from CentOS 5 to CentOS 7. The profiles share is set up like this: [profiles] comment = Roaming Profiles path = /mnt/share2/ntprofiles browseable = no writable = yes csc policy = disable create mask = 0600 directory mask
