Network card problem
Hi all, I''m trying to install Xen on a dell E520 computer. I''ve a network problem while rebooting on kernel vmlinuz-2.6.16.29-xen, all do work well, dom0 (ubuntu 6.06) start but I have no network at all. When booting on ubuntu, the NIC which is a Intel Gigabit Ethernet card drived by the e1000 modules does work correctly, but when the kernel xen is booted, trying to use the

Unusual System State
Our smallest network of systems has only four computers connected via Gigabit Ethernet.? The oldest and most stable platform is an eight year old Dell E520 running CentOS 6.8.? We often try out applications on this Dell/CentOS machine before moving them to other systems on our other networks. Last night, one of our users decided to create a single, 228GB home directory tar archive on an empty,

Noises on Batphones
Hello, The company I work for recently purchased 2 Rhino CB24s and a Rhino PCI-E R4T1. The channel banks are plugged into the R4T1, as well as 2 PRIs from our telco. The CB24s are for all internal analog phones. Most of the phones are setup in "batphone mode", which is "immediate=on" in the DAHDI config. They are set up this way because we are an outgoing call

Unusual System State
I have seen *some* similar activity in different machines through the years and it *always* turns out to be a hardware issue. If this machine is particularly old, I would be suspicious of that. fcitx and switching between keyboards
This is an old issue for me running CentOS 7, latest update. I am using fcitx to switch between keyboards, two western ones and Chinese pinyin keyboard. Ever since I installed CentOS 7 over two years ago, I have been unable to resolve issues where I can maintain keyboard setting within one application, notably chromium, and/or between applications. fcitx has a setting for allowing the keyboard

Switching between keyboards in CentOS 7 using the MATE desktop
I switch between three keyboards, two western ones and Chinese Pinyin entry. I have fcitx installed to switch between Pinyin and standard entry and use the keyboard switching in MATE to switch between keyboards. While I originally believed there was a bug in fcitx since switching between entry fields in firefox, chromium and thunderbird using the non-default keyboard always switched me back to

Using XEN VMs with non-US keyboards?
Is there a way to use Xen VMs with non-US keyboards at the console in a convenient way? I read somewhere in the documentation that only US-English keyboards are supported in the Xen console, but there's more to this. I would imagine that I then can type a character that is on a different key in the US-English layout from my German layout by using the key where it is on the US-English

SYSLINUX 3.70-pre19 and the frozen USB keyboards
I have pushed out SYSLINUX 3.70-pre19. This includes a workaround that I have some early indications might actually resolve the "frozen USB keyboard" problem. If you have a system with this issue, I would *greatly* appreciate: a) if you could test it; b) if it works, if you could verify that 3.70-pre18 *DOESN'T* work. This would be incredibly useful! Thanks, -hpa

Keyboards
On my new Dell system, it's got a cardreader. More to the point, it's got an idiot menu key... *right* next to the right control key, and just where the annoying keyboard design has it cut down from the oversize space bar ASCII art <ctrl><WinDoze> <tall[ ]<tall<tall<tall <ctrl> Alt>[ tall spacebar ] alt> Win>

who broke keyboards again?
I have a client that has several dell machines, when he boots without a keyboard he gets: atkbdc0: <Keyboard controller (i8042)> at port 0x60,0x64 on isa0 but no: atkbd0: <AT Keyboard> flags 0x1 irq 1 on atkbdc0 kbd0 at atkbd0 This used to work, then was broken by someone trying to "do the right thing". We need the keyboards to be hot swappable. I recommend that

Instant Rails 1.0 preview7 -- with Typo!
My apologies to all who downloaded preview6, it did not contain Rails 1.0 as advertised -- I screwed up! Preview7 does, in fact, contain Rails 1.0 and as a bonus, also includes Typo 2.6.0 as a preinstalled sample app. See the Getting Started page for instructions on running Typo in Instant Rails: http://instantrails.rubyforge.org/wiki/wiki.pl?Getting_Started Also, you can thank David Morton

Does R have an equivalent for Matlab's cell array?
Hi I have a time series of measurements: every 10 min. a value was logged. The data look like: 20100914 08:01 3.74 20100914 08:11 3.74 20100914 08:21 3.71 20100914 08:31 4.39 20100914 08:41 3.74 This data spans several months. I would like to group the data per day. In Matlab it is fairly easy to obtain a cell array, of which the first column contains the date of each

OT: Dropbox - Fedora Core 9 RPM will work on CentOS 5.4?
Dropbox has an RPM for Fedora Core 9 (x86). I am running CentOS 5.4 on my Desktop, which I believe is based on Fedora Core 6. Are the libraries Fedora Core 9 uses substantially different than those CentOS 5.4 uses? If Dropbox had an SRPM available, I would Download that and Rebuild, but I'm sure it is Proprietary and they won't release an SRPM to me. TIA! Lanny
