Interactive stereoscopic 3d rendering with RGL plot3d?
Dear R Users,
i' wondering, if there is any possibility to render interactive stereoscopic 3d plots in R and use the
functionality of those new 3d displays (e.g. with poarisation technology) like this one:

Does anyone know if there are developments toward this feature? Or perhaps someone
know how to implement such a

adding 3D arrows to 3D plots
Greetings,
I would like to add 3D arrows (i.e. arrow-headed vectors linking X1Y1Z1 to X2,Y2,Z2) to a 3D plot; ideally the sort of plot that can be rotated interactively. Is this possible using plot3d, or another 3d plotter in R?
While it is easy to draw segments in plot3d (e.g. below), I haven't figured out how to add arrow heads, or to create 3d arrows from scratch.

3D-plotting a 2D-matrix that contains z-values (3rd dimension)
Hello,
say I have a 2D-matrix (indexed by x and y), which contains
z values, which I want to plot over x-y.
Either dotted, or if possible as a landscape.
I tried around with persp and plot3d (from rgl)
and persp3d (from rgl).
I sometimes get something that looks good and a while later, when
trying some new data I need to worry about that again.
Is there something lika a convenience function

rgl: reproduce final state of interactive plot?
After interacting with a 3d plot (eg plot3d, persp3d), is there a way to
capture the final settings of view angles, etc, so that the final plot could
be easily reproduced? The plot functions themselves just return a vector of
'ids'.

3d Scatterplot using rgl
Hi,
I am trying to plot a 3d scatter plot using the rgl package but am having trouble.
I have a matrix containing x, y and z co-ordinates and a fourth element related to a count variable.
I would like to plot the points using plot3d with the sizes of the points related to the fourth element in the matrix. Is this possible with plot3d or do I need to use something else?
I include a small example

3D plot of a bivariate normal distribution
Hi,
I've used the Mathematica to produce 3D graphics, contour plots of a
bivariate normal distribution
Now I want make these graphics in R, but i do not know how.
I would like to:
- Plot a 3D graph for some different variance matrix
- Plot the contour plots
- Find and try to plot (in the 3d graph ou contour plot) the (1-a)%
confidence region based in a chi-square(a) with the degrees of

3D scatter, groups, RdbiPgSQL...
hello,
I wish to create some 3d scatter diagrams visualising different grouped
data set by a given field in the database. I tried the scatterplot3d
package, as well as the plot3d and scatter3d functions (both within the
rgl resp. Rcmdr package). My first question is, whether is it possibe to
group data in the scatterplot3d and plot3d, because I did not succeed to
use the groups = ...

Writing my 3D plot function
Please look at what I see in your code below (run-on code mush) to understand part of why it is important for you to send your email as plain text as the Posting Guide indicates. You might find [1] helpful.

New package for interactive brushing/cropping/deleting points from RGL : sculpt3d v 0.2
sculpt3d is a GTK+ toolbar that allows for more interactive control of a
dataset inside the RGL plot window.
Controls for simple brushing, highlighting, labeling, and mouseMode changes
are provided by point-and-click rather than through the R terminal
interface.

Custom ticks on x axis when dates are involved
Hi,
I have a set of irregular time series and i want to produce a simple plot, with dates on x axis and attribute value of y axis. This is simple enough but my x axis is divided automatically by ticks every 5 years. I would like to have a tick every year at January 1st. I am not sure how i can do that - i end up with something very close to what i want, but it is clunky and not very correct. I

Writing my 3D plot function
Hi all,I had a question last week on asking for a function that will help me draw three different circles on x,y,z axis based on polar coordinates (Each X,Y,Z circle are coming from three independent measurements of 1-360 polar coordinates). It turned out that there ?is no such function in R and thus I am trying to write my own piece of code that hopefully I will be able to share. I have spent

interactive rotatable 3d scatterplot
I would like to create a 3d scatterplot that is interactive in the sense
that I can spin it on its axes to better visualize some PCA results I have.
What are the options in R? I've looked at RGL and perhaps it will suffice
but it wasn't apparent from the documentation I found.
Any demo scripts available for a package that will work?

plot3d labels
Hello R users,
I am a newby using R 2.5.0 on a Apple Power Book G4 with Mac OS X
10.4.10.
Sorry that I ask again such stupid questions, but I haven´t found how
to label the points created with plot3d (rgl).
Hope somebody can help me.
Thanks in advance.

Correct NAMESPACE approach when writing an S3 method for a generic in another package
Dear List,
In one of my packages I have an S3 method for the plot3d generic
function from package rgl. I am trying to streamline my Depends
entries but don't know how to have
plot3d(foo)
in the examples section for the plot3d method in my package, without
rgl being in Depends.
Note that I importFrom(rgl, plotd3d) and register my S3 method via
S3Method() in the NAMESPACE.
If rgl is not in

Creating 3D plot
Hi to all,
i have a data set of international airports with latitude, longitude and
altitude. I was thinking of creating a 3D plot out of them, but haven't
succeeded yet.
With

all i get is http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/225/70758244.png/. What i

customizing color key with plot3D
Karline,
Thank you for your help. I discovered that in addition to including clim, I needed to omit breaks. This code uses one of your other examples as a starting point and works as intended:

colkey = list(length = 0.2, width = 0.4, shift = 0.15,
cex.axis = 0.8, cex.clab = 0.85), lighting = TRUE, lphi = 90,
clab =

3D plots
Hi,
Which package is your favorite one to create 3D bar plots?
Which package is the easiest and fastest to use to your mind?
I tried to download the R.basic package that has plot3d integrated.
Unfortunately the installation from Henrik's webpage doesn't work.
Do you know where else to get it from? Is there an update? Or maybe an even
better package for plotting in 3D?
Thank you!
