Question about KDC Resolution with Samba

As 'hostname -d' is returning 'mycorp.com' it would seem that is the dns
domain your computer is in. 'mycorp.com' != 'wgname.ad.mycorp.com'
(which appears to be the dns domain of your DC) and Samba does not do
subdomains or to put it

Samba wins problem
Hello there,
From digging the archive - it looks as if this was discussed here earlier
however I could not find a decent solution to my problem.
The problem is that I keep seeing the following errors on my nmbd.log:

nmbd/nmbd_browsesync.c:find_domain_master_name_query_fail(358)

dovecot sasl auth (pam) + postfix doesn't work...
hello,
i tried to use the "dovecot sasl" with postfix using pam as backend
(actually pam_krb5) but it doesn't work.
dovecot runs well as pop3 server authenticating with the pam_krb5
module with the config below, but it doesn't even connect with the
kerberos server (a remote AD 2003) when it's called from postfix.
--------dovecot.conf---------
protocols = pop3 pop3s imap

AD integration not working after move/version
Hi!
I am in a bit of trouble, I have moved a samba installation from one virtual host to another keeping the configuration files and filesystems. But during the transition something broke, now windows users are no longer able to access their shares. I think it has to do with the AD integration. I do not know it it because some state is missing on this host related to the AD integration or if

Samba4 - WinXP rpc server unavailable
Hi,
I have a test environment with Samba4 on Ubuntu 11.04 (alpha15 package),
and a little problem around the joining to the domain from my WinXP SP3
machine.
I followed the official Samba4 Howto, then my configuration steps was these:
- Install smb4 from ubuntu package
- setup provisioning, created a testdom.mycorp.local
- setup bind9 with gssapi (everything working fine)
- test

Sso the Linux way?
So I was googling around about this over the last week and here is what I
found:
nis/yp is for some reason bad.
Kerbos is holy, but no how-to's that don't involve windows and active
directory.
What is the recommended sso approach for centos? Where are there examples /
docs to follow?

Sieve > Pigeonhole > external storage with LDAP or other data source available to dovecot
I am looking at porting and generalizing an old in-house patch that I'm
using for the CMU Sieve plugin. It allows sieve script to test & lookup
arguments from LDAP.
Before getting too involved in this, I'd like to discuss my goals here
in the hopes that someone else also thinks this would be useful. Many
heads may make better design?
Goal:

That's not really a step forward to a supported Samba version. :-)

Function failure in tm
HI all:
I have a customized source reader for the package tm (that Milan Bouchet-Vallat has been instrumental in producing).
I can get it to produce a corpus of class:
"VCorpus" "Corpus" "list"
class(mycorp[1]) returns
"VCorpus" "Corpus" "list"
and class(mycorp[[1]] returns
"PlainTextDocument"

CentOS 6, BIND_DLZ and kinit errors (Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)
It seems like the BIND 9.8 that ships with CentOS 6.x (and probably RHEL

oplock not working correctly
I posted a problem with oplock previously, but am guessing it goto lost
in an earlier thread with the same subject line, so here goes another shot:
Using Samba 3.0.22 on a Gentoo box (kernel 2.6.15) I've a situation
where file locking does not seem to be functioning as expected, in that
more than one user can open and write to a file without any
notifications being displayed about the file

make uninstall can delete xen-kernels
Nice time.
# make uninstall
...
rm -rf //boot/*xen*
...
if somebody use "xen" in kernel name (maybe as suffix), so it will be deleted from /boot/ too.
Thanks.
Denis.

(Sorry for not replying directly, I'm not on the list and I can't figure out if
gmane allows me to reply to a mail.)
It's probably best to try and contact the committer first - It's possible few
other people understand or care

Sudo #includedir function ignored CentOS 6
I am unable to get the #includedir function to work with sudo. This works
just fine on all my CentOS 5.6 servers, but on 6 it is being ignored. I
have this line in the file /etc/sudoers.d/zabbix-puppet
zabbix ALL=NOPASSWD: /var/lib/zabbix/bin/start_puppet
However sudo still requires a password. If I put that same line into
/etc/sudoers file , there is no password prompt. At the end of my

It could be, the realm name is usually the DNS domain name, whilst the
windows domain name is just one word and is usually the left hand part
of the realm name. i.e. if the DNS domain name is

Cleanup make system so that all noninstalled headers are put

Checked and both DCs pass all tests:-

host -t SRV _gc._tcp.mydomain.com.
host -t SRV _kerberos._udp.mydomain.com.
