Dovecot on CentOS5 - (login) returned error 127
Running CentOS Linux 5 with sendmail-procmail putting email in
/var/spool/mail. I'm running pop3 only with the servers configured to
authenticate with ldap (which is configured and running OK). I do have
this same configuration on an older FC6 box and it works fine. I'm
thinking I just need to upgrade dovecot given all the nss_ldap problems
it has had, but I hate not using RPM

Samba joins win2k domain but can't authenticate
All I got my samba server to join my win2k domain without any problems.
But if I change the config to read security=domain it prompts the user
for a username and password. If I change it to security=server it does
not prompt for user names. I did some searching in the list came up with
a few emails and this website

Enabling capabilities in a container
I'm using libvirt_lxc to create and manage various containers. I need to
enable certain capabilities in a container to support ctdb, and as a
quick solution I decided to just enable them all. I *thought* this would
do the trick, adding the following XML to my container config:
<features>
   <capabilities policy='allow'>
   </capabilities>
</features>

Does CTDB run under LXC containers?
We're transitioning from a VM based environment to one that uses LXC
based containers running under CentOS 7. CTDB runs fine under our CentOS
7 VMs. The same packages running under LXC however seem to have issues:
# systemctl start ctdb.service
Job for ctdb.service failed. See 'systemctl status ctdb.service' and
'journalctl -xn' for details.
# systemctl status ctdb.service

Splunk Module Development Recommendations
Good morning,
We''ve been testing PE and beginning developing modules for our
infrastructure. One of the modules I''m looking to create is an installation
for Splunk, with the primary focus at this time, on the Forwarder. I
already have the splunkforwarder-5.0.1-143156-linux-2.6-amd64.deb package
being fetched from the Master and also performing the installation via
dpkg. I

Does CTDB run under LXC containers?
I'm using libvirt_lxc and that has an XML based configuration. Based on
what I've read, I think I need to add this to the ctdb container's config:
<features>
   <capabilities policy='default'>
     <sys_nice state='on'/>
   </capabilities>
</features>
That didn't do the trick though. I need to figure out how to turn on all
caps to

Question about setting up in a colo environment
Hello all,
We are looking to retire our ancient PIX box at the colo and replace it with
Shorewall, which we''ve been successfully using (along with OpenVPN) at the
headquarters for quite a while.
However, I''m missing something basic in the config. I have the base
configuration set up, but cannot seem to get our routed IPs to be picked up.
Here is the basic config:

OpenLDAP,heimdal kerberos,sasl, wich order?
Hi!
I have been reading for about two weeks (maybe I'm reading on the wrong
places). I have found as many documents as one could expect describind
how to build a LDAPv3 server, or how to build samba with ldap. This
far, I have failed, and have a BIG confution in the order in wich the
things should go:
In one document, they recommend this:
samba -> ldap -> sasl -> kerberos

W2k/SQL Authentication problems 3.0.1, help please
I upgraded from Samba 2.2.8a to Samba 3.0.1, since doing I'm having
problems with my SQL Server and applications running on Windows 2000.
When a users (running a windows 98 client) attempts to query the SQL
Server, either using ODBC (even the Test Sources) or an application that
uses the db. I get a login failed from the sql app, and from the ODBC I
get:

[Bug 285] 3.3p1 on Linux 2.2.x doesn't accept connections
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285
------- Additional Comments From dtucker at zip.com.au  2002-06-23 20:31 -------
Disabling PrivSep (add "UsePrivilegeSeparation no" to sshd_config) should get it
working on 2.2 kernels.
3.3p1 defaults PrivSep to on. Previous releases (that supported it) defaulted to
off.

Newbie using John T's Examples (AD)
I'm following along with John T's examples book and I'm still
befuddled on getting Samba working.
The server is Fedora Core 5, Samba 3.0.23a-1.fc5.1
PDC is W2K SP4 with AD
I basically copied/pasted the example smb.conf and nsswitch.conf to
get a basic working config. The lines "template primary group" gave
problems so I removed that one line.
I run testparm -s and get:

smbd spawns
Stoped and restarted smbd and nmbd.
Logged out of NT user account and logged back in.
Tried to acces the shares on Linux
The message box I get is,
	\\myhost\root is not accessible
	The handle is invalid.
On Linux, now I see 2 processes of smbd running. Why is smbd spawning?

Version 3: %U returns null value in security = share
Dear Samba Gurus
We have been using samba to work a print solution for our University for
quite sometime, where the user doesn't need an account on the domain, nor
does the PC need to be part of our Domain or Workgroup. Users can print to
the machine via \\server\printershare and this has worked perfectly in the
past, because %U is returned as the username their workstation recognises
them
