Automount from Windows w/o logging in first?
I am trying to do something which should seem very straightforward,
not to mention, not unusual for load-balanced web servers, namely:
providing a faceless/login-less mounting of SMB shares from NT4 and
Win2K servers.
Yes, I accept that I will need to stash a plaintext login key in some
script or registry key. The security impacts are acceptable.
I have the latest Samba 2.2.x server, and a

build options for R
Hello Everyone,
Recently I was given a Java servlet based web calculator that will
call R (libR.so to be exact) but I am having trouble trying to disable R
from requiring --save, --no-save or --vanilla... Is there any way to
build R on linux and disable R from asking --save, --no-save or --vanilla??
Thanks!

We have recently purchased a server which has 64GB of memory running
a 64bit OS and I have compiled R from source with the following config

--enable-BLAS-shlib --enable-shared --with-readline --with-iconv
--with-x --with-tcktk --with-aqua --with-libpng --with-jpeglib

Custom PAM module not working correctly
Hello,
I've developed a custom PAM module which only allows a user to
authenticate to the server only if another user of the same machine
also authenticates succesfully. It's currently a simple module which
also works as a PAM aware application since it authenticates each user
with PAM itself. Both the pamtester utility and su can use this module
correctly. However, when I try to use

Problems with conversation functions PAM + OpenSSH
Hello
sorry, for bothering you with this problem, but I ca't find solutions.
I write small PAM module, and I've got the problem with conversation
function with OpenSSH 3.5p1.
When the message style is PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_ON, or PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_OFF
everything is allright. But when I use PAM_TEXT_INFO, or PAM_ERROR_MSG,
ssh prints nothing on the client side. Does anyone know the reason of

[RFC PATCH 0/4] PAM module for ssh-agent user authentication
Hi,
The main (and probably the only) use case of this PAM module is to let
sudo authenticate users via their ssh-agent, therefore without having
to type any password and without being tempted to use the NOPASSWD sudo
option for such convenience.
The principle is originally implemented by an existing module [0][1]
and many pages that explain how to use it for such purpose can be
found online.

sshd and pam , conversation
I have setup openssh with hostbased
authentication on linux (redhat).
I want to allow/deny users based on a
listfile, so i have a PAM module that
does that, and it runs in the "account"
section (oposed to pam_listfile.so,
that uses the "auth" section - it wouldt
work because with hostbased authentication
openssh ignores the "auth" section).
It's working

"na.action" parameter in princomp() (PR#3481)
Full_Name: Jerome Asselin
Version: 1.7.1
OS: Red Hat Linux 7.2
Submission from: (NULL) (24.77.125.119)
Setting the parameter na.action=na.omit should remove
incomplete records in princomp. However this does not
seem to work as expected. See example below.
Sincerely,

PAM sessions and conversation functions
In OpenSSH 3.6.1p2, pam_open_session() ran with a conversation function,
do_pam_conversation(), that fed text to the client. In OpenSSH 3.7.1p2,
this is no longer the case: session modules run with a conversation
function that just returns PAM_CONV_ERR. This means that simple session
modules whose job involves printing text on the user's terminal no
longer work: pam_lastlog, pam_mail, and
