PPPoE/ADSL configuration questions.
I am building a CentOS 5 box to ship to Houston which will be a
gateway system on an SBC DSL connection for a while until the
client gets a T1 installed. I have read up on using adsl-setup
and related software, but never done PPPoE on anything but
LinkSys commodity boxes. I have examined the adsl-setup script,
and I think I understand how this works, but want to be sure I
understand things

tc filter matches ip fileds inside pppoe frames
I have a requirement which I guess it is not too unusually, however I haven''t
quite figured out how to do it and couldn''t find any examples which handle that.
I have made myself a Linux-based bridge, eth0 bridged with
eth1 to form br0.
In this bridge, I run ''tc'' script to handle QoS.
So far nothing unusual.
However, what''s different is that this

Need basic PPPoE startup help
I need basic PPPoE startup help.
adsl-start DID bring up my PPPoE link (ppp0) to my ISP over eth0 via the
DSL modem/bridge. My IPv4 CIDR block is routing and Shorewall is doing
the firewalling.
But shorewall has to be started after ppp0 is up and working. For now
this means running shorewall restart (or start?). Shorewall 4.2 will
have a way to restart shorewall without recompiling, I

help with multiple IP over pppoe
I am having a little trouble getting my head around this so any help would be appreciated.
I have just signed up a new service and have been allocated the following subnet which gives me 30
usable IP addresses.
210.15.xxx.192/27
The connection is made via pppoe which works fine and the connection creates ppp0 and assigns
210.15.xxx.193.
Now I want to use 4 IP''s in a DMZ and the reset

Verizon DSL + rp-pppoe + CentOS 6.5
Greetings,
I've just upgrade a home server to CentOS 6.5 with a new dual-core
processor and mobo.
I see that with the CentOS 6.x release rp-pppoe can be run as a daemon.
I've looked through some online one-page setup notes for rp-pppoe, but
nowhere is there a discussion of running it as a daemon.
Until now, I've cobbled an ifcfg-ppp0 file and placed it in

Shaping per IP in PPPoE
hi all.
i am currently now serving PPPoE in my area.
i had a script generated from tcng that worked perfectly before i
started serving PPPoE.
the issue is not in the script it self BUT in that "tc" code is not
shaping on the ethernet anymore BUT INSTEAD
on the pppX devices. I tested it and talking jargon, what should i do?
The issue is that for each PPPoE login, PPPoE-server

Shaping per IP in PPPoE borrowing or sharing Uplink or Downlink
helo again. I think this question i am asking is worth:
we know that pppoe-server creates a pppX device on each connection done
to it.
So, when i have to shape, i have to shape each pppX connection device on
itself alone.
What i know is that the borrowing method on one device by itself, e.g.
ppp0, alone using HTB or the like. this means that i have to create for
another device, e.g. ppp1,

PPPoE setup
My provider is getting ready to switch my DSL router to bridging mode
and I supply the router (so I can get no only IPv4 addresses but also
IPv6 addresses!).
Here are his 'instructions' to me:
"Basically you start pppoe, I give you the username and password for it,
and then I set the router to passthrough modem mode, and you initiate
the PPPoE session directly with my LNS back

Advice on vlans and pppoe
My telco is moving to feeding me over fiber, breaking out with a media
converter to one Ethernet interface. At present, I am retaining the
static feed over copper on eth0, and taking the two new feeds via vlans
on eth1. I have configured the static IP feed on eth1:790 as vlan 790,
and that seems to be fine, and eth1:780 as the PPPOE feed, and brought
up PPPOE to give me an IP, that is

ADSL ppp0, persist
Hello guys,
I have two ISP's connected to my router. One via eth2, second one via
ADSL modem, with ppoe doing on my Centos 5 .
The problem I have is, that when ADSL fails , interface ppp0 is
removed. This also removes my static routes configured for this
interface. I do not want that, as I have load balancing configured and
default route is removed when ppp0 interface disapears.
This is my

Question concerning iptables and the example at tinc's homepage
Hi all,
hi Guus,
in july 2004 i received an e-mail from you concerning the way a
packet takes across a (tinc)vpn:
> They are forwarded from eth0 to tap0, but the kernel doesn't know that
> tinc is forwarding them from tap0 to ippp0. So, the UDP and TCP
> packets that tinc sends will be seen by the OUTPUT chain instead of
> the FORWARD chain. At the other end, the received UDP

Two ADSL lines with PPPoE in one server.
Hello,
My system is:
Server with Slackware 8.1 LINUX, ADSL Internet with PPPoE connection,
and I masquerade my LAN. I use "Roaring Penguin" PPPoE client for my
ADSL connection.
I would like to connect another ADSL line (also PPPoE) to my server
and have two lines, because I want to make "Simple source policy
routing", as described in LARTC HOWTO.
How should I set up my

PPPoE + Masquedate + Shorewall
Hi,
I have been a shorewall user for a long time now, and it has been
working flawlessly. I have now changed ISP and my new DSL connection is
PPPoE.
My setup is as follows:
internet <--------> 3com812 Officeconnect (bridge mode) <----> eth0
<-------> linux box <----> eth1, eth2, eth3, eth4 <---> other internal
networks
Things are working fine, but the link is

PPPoE and shaping
Hi all,
I have a little problem with my home-made slackware linux server.
Here is the scenario:
1. I have a local wifi network
2. my server do masquerading and exit in internet via a PPPoE connection
Goals:
1. not use SQUID
2. shaping the traffic with classes
3. emule connection must have minimum priority and a band-limit of
10KBytes/s in uplink (server--->internet)
Any idea?
Thx,
Diego

Traffic control of PPPoE users
I need some suggestions, I want to limit the up and down bandwidth of PPPoE
users that are terminated on a Linux router (kernel 2.6).
What are my options, can I apply tbf qdisc on a ppp interface? That
would limit the download, what about the upload?
Any suggestions are welcome.

[Bridge] Bridging a wireless/wired LAN and a PPPoE connection
Hi all,
I'm trying out bridging for my wireless and wired LAN, so that they can
both use my PPPoE connection. Here's the network structure, pretty easy:
darjeeling (192.168.1.7) ringo (192.168.1.3)
(mtu 1500) (mtu 1500)
\ /
\ wlan0 <--br0 (mtu 1500)--> eth1
